Heavy Rain Facebook

I don't agree with it either. But at the moment it does count as a valid external link because it gives people an insight into the marketing style that Sony are using for the game. Stop Deleting Everything

Regardless of what you consider to be "notable", review sources and news outlets with history over five years is relevant. Also attempting to delete scores that you don't agree with and have been in place for several months is just plain childish. You want me banned because I posted a review on Wikipedia that you don't agree with and then you went on a cleaning spree removing months worth of contributions? And then you tell me you don't "appreciate" me sending you a message? Well doesn't it make sense to ask why you're deleting so much content?

RPGSite Scores

I would like to know how adding www.rpgsite.net reviews to video game reception tables is spam.

RPGSite receives an average of 600,000 unique hits per month and interviews actors such as Mark Meer (aka the male Commander Shepard in the hit Mass Effect series) and developers such as Motomu Toriyama and Yoshinori Kitase, the director and producer of Final Fantasy XIII.

On what grounds are we not allowed to add nothing more than a review score to Wikipedia articles?

Edited to add that 1) we're a GameRankings site, 2) we're being accepted to Metacritic, and 3) for two months running we have in fact received over a million unique hits.

Well, it is consider spamming because:

1) your only article edits were adding review scores by a single website, which makes it a possible conflict of interest (and the fact that you are referring www.rpgsite.net as 'we' doesn't help either...)

2) I'm not familiar with www.rpgsite.net, but if I have to guess, it mainly revolves around role-playing games. Well-established websites such as IGN, GameSpot, 1UP.com, or Eurogamer are websites that scope a whole range of video games, not only RPGs. On Wikipedia, we prefer a more 'neutral' source before a 'specialised' source (just as a mainstream source like The New York Times is preferred before a video game source).

3) Just adding a score doesn't add anything to an article.

Capitalization

Thanks for taking the time to talk. I used looked at your previous edit and saw the SFX Magazine was not an article. In the headings, I capitalized Screenplay and Origional story because of this: "Use sentence-style capitalization, not title-style capitalization: Capitalize the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns in headings, but leave the rest lower case. Thus "Rules and regulations", not "Rules and Regulations"." Those both fall under that catagory becuse you are initially saying the origional story is by so and so. Why remove the references etc ?

When you made your edit you appear to have removed references to interviews, Flags and Fences etc. which were very handy. Perhaps you could re-instate these items - I'm sure other people were interested in them too. There is little enough information available about the Blue Nile .... possibly the most reclusive band ever! I check Wikipedia every now and then just in case ... now I'm in the realms of fairy tales! .... there might be a fifth CD in the offing or even a live concert! I need something to keep my dreams alive as I am sadly coming to the conclusion that The Blue Nile are no more! Pollyleeevans (talk) 09:12, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Regarding ELNO

This revision specifically, and the reason for it being ELNO... Anyway, the only reason in the ELNO link that I thought was applicable was #12. One reason we even have fan specific wikis is to keep Wikipedia free of cluttered articles pertaining to every minor detail of a series. With few exceptions, Wikipedia is the first searched site for information on a game series. I was planning to add external links to more Kirby related game articles and the WiKirby site. The standards on the wiki's "substantial-ness" seem vague and open to interpretation. WiKirby isn't going to be obsolete any time in the near future. We're being built by members of long standing wikis such as Bulbapedia, MarioWiki.com, and Zelda Wiki.org. Judging from so many talk pages, it seems Wikipedia's interests would be to provide an outlet for fans of a specific series wanting to get more in-depth with the articles. There are several other game pages with external links to fandom wikis, and it wasn't used to source anything in the article. Do tell me if there are further details to measure an independent wiki's status on the "substantial" requirement. Axiomist (talk) 14:53, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for answering my question. The conflict of interest part is true, I won't deny nor conceal that. I didn't fully investigate the policy here. There are another set of external links that I think should be reviewed by Wikipedia staff. The Legend of Zelda franchise has 2 major wikis and in my opinion, the lesser wiki has its links here by default. Compare:

• Zelda Wiki.org
  • Mentioned in the Official Nintendo Magazine last spring.
  • Mentioned in The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy in 2008.
  • Affiliated with 26 sites, the bulk of the fan community, 9 of which actually assist in its management.
  • Just months older than Zeldapedia.
  • Led in article count for 4 years before taking an approach to merge articles of similar natures. (Scents vs Individual scent articles)
  • Preferred by even users of sites that are not affiliated Gamefaqs thread.

• Zeldapedia
  • Fills their wiki with Junk "articles"
  • Part of the Wikia network which conceals member statistics by combining all of Wikia's member statistics.
  • Couldn't put together an About page, because there was no one to copy from.

Obviously, I'm biased again, but the mentions in printed media and support of the fan community seem reason enough to present the issue to the staff of Wikipedia for a review. Being substantial seems to be subjective, but I would think those points outweigh a site merely being linked to because of it being on wikia. Both wikis could quickly fill in a discussion with its members so a staff decision would be fair to all parties. Axiomist (talk) 12:15, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Take a look at the intro of these pages: Smashing Pumpkins, Bruce Willis, and Star Wars. The word "American" specifically refers to the United States and its citizens; prior to the last couple of days this week, "North" wasn't even in the intro to Kings of Leon. I'm not sure if you still desire a response, but the reason was that stealth game alone is sufficient. A stealth game is considered a subgenre of the action-adventure game genre and as such there is no need for mentioning two very similar genres. Please don't be a Genre Warrior without any sources to back up your claim.
