Richard Youngs[edit]

Thanks for your contribution to this article, excellent to have some more Omming For Woks info! Ac@osr 17:05, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for a further excellent contribution to this article. Ac@osr 21:42, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Even the bit about the motorway bridge? Totnesmartin 22:57, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tape Scene[edit]

Howdy. Interesting idea for an article but you would need to show that it was a notable subject for inclusion. Best way of doing this would be to show that a number of known notable artists arose from it. Good thought, let me know how you get on with it. Ac@osr 20:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose there's also a link with the Nurse With Wound / Current 93 post-Industrial axis as well, all of whom issued a significant number of cassette releases. Throbbing Gristle's live series too. I'll have a think about this; there's certainly something in it. Ac@osr 20:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Found Cassette culture, seems fairly good.

Hi! I saw you've been actively making a lot of good edits in an article covered by our project, so I wanted to invite you to join us! The project is undergoing a large expansion right now, and we need quality editors! We are a WikiProject with the goal of improving the quality of articles having to do with Ufology, Cryptozoology, the Supernatural, and other topics. We provide a centralized forum for concerns that effect multiple articles within our scope, as well as methods to rate and categorize articles by quality, get input on how to improve an article from our other members, and a collaborative project once a month where the whole project pitches in to make an article great. You won't be required to do anything special once you join; all that we ask of members is that they sign our participants page, though if you do join you may also find it useful to add some of our pages (especially our main talk page to your watchlist to keep yourself apprised of what we're up to. If you have questions about any of this, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you for your time, and happy editing! --InShaneee 15:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asteroidz[edit]

Hi just writing to say previously I had vandalised wikipedia (but don't worry I won't do it again) and I was completely new and had no idea that what I did would actually be put on the internet. I was promptly autoblocked by someone called can't sleep, clown will eat me. I didn't realise that I was actually vandalising the internet. I think new vandals deserve a second chance, or at least a bigger warning.Asteroidz R not planetz 16:53, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That seems a bit quick, I've seen vandals get several warnings before being blocked. Perhaps he was in a grump that day. Totnesmartin 17:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

land squid[edit]

I think I'm missing the point of something here. Of course the land squid doesn't exist. I'm not pretending that it does. I'm not pretending that that picture is anything other than a flower. However, the person who took the picture has labeled it as a "land squid" and the hypothetical creature has been discussed for many years, as you can see if you google "land squid" -"future is wild". I thought the point of the cryptids page is that this is something that people (like that photographer) are claiming the possible existence of. It's substantially no different than photos of the Loch Ness monster, and we have other other "hypotheticals" there like the Humanzee. — coelacan talk — 19:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the photo is of a flower, as are other of his photos (click "next" on that one and you'll see. The fact that he's given it a fanciful title is irrelevant to cryptozoology.

"The Future is wild" was a TV show about what life forms might develop in five million years' time. The land squid has no place in cryptozoology as a)nobody has reported one and b)nobody is looking for it. This is why it's out of the list.

The google search is revealing: someone here actually caught one [1]!

You didn't see the minus sign. Here's the search I asked you to make: [2] I know full well what The Future is Wild is. It's irrelevant. The land squid goes back to 1998 at least. I just told you I know the picture is a flower. The point is it's being pushed as a cryptid. Probably nothing on the cryptid list is real. What's the difference in me adding the land squid then? — coelacan talk — 20:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I looked. I found the humourous emails from 98, the flower photo, a squid washed up on the Galapagos islands, and loads of fisheries sites and gaming sites. No real discussion. if it's not being considered as real by someone credible, then it's out. Totnesmartin 20:27, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Laura Jury, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Laura Jury. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. --Jemiller226 23:56, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

72.154.142.164[edit]

Hey, thanks for the anti-vandal work. I'd ask that you hold off reporting 72.154.142.164 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) until and unless they vandalize again, since they've stated that they're not going to vandalize again. Of course, if they do go back to it, they should be reported immediately. I can keep an eye on them. Thanks again! Peace, delldot | talk 16:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

edit conflicts on new-pages patrol[edit]

Sorry you're running into edit conflicts. I'd be surprised if you and I were the only people watching new pages at the moment, really. In any case, I'm going off to do something else, so don't let me get in the way of your good work! Regards, FreplySpang 18:35, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well if it's more than us 2, I'll pop off and have my dinner.Totnesmartin 18:36, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes thank you for spotting that one out, would you by any chance know how 2 change it? --Gocartsforelephants 20:19, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article's title is spelt fine, it's just here. I've just corrected this one. Totnesmartin 20:21, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletions[edit]

Hi there; while I have absolutely no argument in principle about your {{speedy}} tag of "Circumfrence" (sic), the reason that you give is not one which is contained within the list of acceptable reasons for speedy deletion contained within wikipedia policy. The complete list of speedy tags is to be found at WP:SPEEDY. There is normally at least one in here which is appropriate, and using one results in a much faster result. Happy wikying.--Anthony.bradbury 21:59, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Augusto Pinochet Talk Page[edit]

I feel that your contribution to the Augusto Pinochet talk page was highly offensive. The talk pages are there to make constructive comments about the article and NOT for derogatory remarks centred around your own personal opinion about someone who has just died. If I was you I'd reflect on where best to put these opinions in the future i.e. a blog and not wikipedia discussion pages RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or lets have banter 21:11, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

for the record, I'd said "I hope the bastard rots in hell" on the talk page.
I find overthrowing democracy and killing 3000 people highly offensive. Delete the comment if you wish. Totnesmartin 21:14, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As i said a blog is the best place for those comments - not wikipedia. I'm not gong to deleate your comments because thats for you to do - your comment, your descision whether it gets deleated or not. I just want you to reflect on the appropriateness of it and whether anyone reading the talk page would view it as mildly constructive RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or lets have banter 23:45, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In the end someone else deleted my comment, and other similar ones by other people, some of whom I believe were Chileans.

Devon[edit]

Sod all use on the technical stuff at I am Devonian! I've looked on the Cornwall portal with some envy for a while!!! At present I'm more active here b:user talk:Herbythyme but I check in here from time to time --Herby talk thyme 08:36, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So that's two of us crap at tchie stuff. Babbage would have been proud :) Totnesmartin 11:51, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Steve - Not sure I can be any help either, but am Devonian, and favourable to Devon stuff. Limit of my impact on Wikipedia so far is altering French, Occitan, and Polish wikipedias to say that Plymouth is twinned with Novorossisk, not Novosibirsk as they seemed to think. Complete beginner. If I do get involved with anything, Devon might be good practice. Interesting to read the battles on Plymouth page on disambiguation. Stevebritgimp 23:11, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, Wikiproject:Devon looks like it'll be here dreckly... Totnesmartin 23:37, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sooner the better, when are we taking the plunge? I've been looking at the Devon page again, and also the History of Devon page. Having to reconcile that with the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. Big prob with early Devon is that it is British, and so either a) English view gets put forward in all books, or b) British view only gets put forward by crackpots who lack the discipline to stick to facts or reasonable assumptions. Also like to mention the Plymouth page again. A lot of Americans seem to think Plymouth is a car. So these two issues are going to be motivation in getting Devon discussion going, but best practice will be consensus - different viewpoints will have to be accommodated. Stevebritgimp 22:25, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must say that I wholeheartedly support this venture to bring more of Devon into Wikipedia. As I live in Torbay and very interested in Brixham history in particular I think that this new project is right up my street! I could also get the help of the local museum curator, as you'd expect he is a very knowledgeable man in the field of our local history. Birddrz 00:27, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blimey is that the time? too busy wikiing... the museum curator sounds like an excellent idea, he must have a ton of archived stuff. Hmm, might annoy mine as well... Totnesmartin 00:32, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation[edit]

A mediation case has been opened in which your name is mentioned. I just signed up as a mediator, pending approval by the involved parties. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/User:Lucky 6.9 reverting his own Talk page. If you would like to be listed as a party, please write your name in the blue box. If you feel you are not involved, please remove your name from the list under "Who's involved?". (In this case, your name will only be allowed to be reinserted if a reason is given.) — Sebastian 22:37, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update: The original case has been deleted by an involved party. I reported this incidend on administrators' noticeboard (now archived). Since I have not been asked by anyone to investigate this case, I will not pursue it any further. I'm not watching your user page anymore, so please let me know on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns. — Sebastian 20:13, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
