Did you realise that your last edit to the 2010 FIFA World Cup squads completely reverted the edit that I made immediately before you? – PeeJay 10:44, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:MOSHEAD for the reason why I have removed the links from the section titles. The page states, "to avoid accessibility problems, headings should not normally contain links". Furthermore, the section titles should not contain flags either as it stops the sections from being properly linked to in article histories. – PeeJay 06:41, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Bub"? Seriously? Who do you think you are: Wolverine? – PeeJay 20:59, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well to be fair, you were the one who started the edit war. Strange that you later claimed you weren't going to get into an edit war with me, but it's funny how one's memory starts to fail when you find yourself in the wrong, isn't it? – PeeJay 01:07, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2006 AFC Challenge Cup squads - Philippines[edit]

In the Philippines the surname "de la Cruz" has been "Philippinized". Therefore there are people whose last name is "dela Cruz". Although there are others with "de la Cruz". In the case of the Filipino player Wilson in the Challenge Cup squad, he's "Wilson dela Cruz" not "Wilson de la cruz." As for Andres Gonzalez, although there is no article for him, there's Andrés González with a page. Banana Fingers (talk) 20:44, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Some fixes, article is still pretty poor"[edit]

You visited one of the articles I am working on said the article is still pretty poor? I don't mean to be a jerk or combative about this but why would you even say that? Are you grading the article or just taking pot shots at contributors? I could just edit other people's work if I wanted but I am choosing to try to add something to the articles. I think you should maybe consider other people's time and work before flippantly degraded it. Morry32 (talk) 06:01, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What suggestions would you make to improve the article? Thank you for the apology. Morry32 (talk) 15:22, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lausanne-Sports[edit]

No problem. I've been trying to improve the coverage of Russian football and they just knocked one Russian team out and play another Russian team in the Europa League group. Geregen2 (talk) 19:53, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Philippines national football team[edit]

Your "clarification" is not constructive. For the current squad, nothing changed and you named it as the squad for the qualifiers even though the final squad hasn't even been announced yet! You also removed the "goals" column, and there are still a few players who's caps are wrong, when at this moment in time their caps are unknown. For the recent call-ups, you've completely changed it. As mentioned, it is a section for players that have been part of the FINAL SQUAD for a match or tournament within the last 12 months. Not for players that are part of a provisional squad. The template should also be "nat fs r player" and not "nat fs g player". Therefore, there should be no squad numbers and a column "latest call-up" would be there. Again, you also removed the "goals" column when it should also be retained. On top of all that, you also removed a completely different section I added called "Team image". Banana Fingers (talk) 18:39, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proper protocol?? Show me the relevant discussion or the proper manual of style for the use of that template where this protocol is stated. The pages for the national teams where there are specific wiki football projects don't seem to be following this supposed protocol. Also, you changed the style and yet you didn't even maintain the correct number of caps for each player. It's not the 19th anymore! Banana Fingers (talk) 20:03, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Those are for squad pages. This isn't a squad specific page but a national team page. Other national team articles also list the squad by position which includes the caps AND goals count. And for the recent call-ups section, like I've said before, that section is for players who have made it to the final squad for a match or tournament. No players that have only been in the provisional squad should be listed. Banana Fingers (talk) 20:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

What is it with you? So you don't list the attendance on 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup qualification because there is no consistency? Is this another one of your made up "protocols"?? Just as you have done for the squad for the Philippines national football team page? So what if the other match reports do not mention the attendance? If it's mentioned in the match report it should be listed. Unless you show me an actual ruling within wp:football that this new protocol of yours must be followed, it should be listed. Banana Fingers (talk) 17:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So now you're labeling me as the know-it-all??? Funny! Because I was thinking the exact same with you and you're also getting on my nerves. You're the one trying to enforce self-made protocols that aren't even protocol at all! By you doing that, that's also your way of saying that the standards/protocols that are in place aren't good enough, so you've taken the liberty and created and enforced your own. That's a slap in the face to Wikpedia and a slap in the face to other editors/contributors such as myself. So who's the know-it-all now?? Banana Fingers (talk) 18:55, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So much for "letting each other be" huh?? This time it's the 2006 Challenge Cup. Have you actually had a proper look at the match reports?? Because in those match reports, beside each player's name is the name they go by in brackets which most likely would've been on the back of their jersey as well. And when listing the scorers, that's usually the name that is listed, right?? Eg. Palestine: Fahed Attall as a scorer would be "Attal" but the reports list him as "F. Attal", India: Vimal Pariyar would be "Pariyar" but they usually go with their first names and that's what the reports list him as, simply "Vimal". So tell me what I've done wrong now?? I also fixed pen takers for Sri Lanaka vs Nepal but you undid my revision. So....... Banana Fingers (talk) 18:08, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oooohhhhhhh..... I'm so sorry your highness, it will never happen again. pfff. You and your "I really like cleaning up other people's messes". So you you're better than everybody else... whatever!! Piss off!! Oh and "messes"?!? lol!! Banana Fingers (talk) 16:51, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualification[edit]

  • The note in Group B is redundant. Malaysia being the host for that group is stated at the top of the Group stage section. The same reference is also used. I was also the one who did that revision.
  • I'm guessing you're not familiar how the fixtures were drawn. MD1: 1v4, 2v3; MD2: 4v2, 3v1; MD3: 1v2, 3v4. This would also be inline with the original draw of the groups as shown here. Therefore I rearranged the teams in the groups to be inline with what I've just stated.
  • The times for Group A, it would look much neater if it was stated that all times were UTC+6:30 rather than actually putting UTC+6:30 after every kickoff time.

So what do you mean "why"? Banana Fingers (talk) 18:47, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there SPARTAN, VASCO from Portugal here,

please stop reverting me here. Let's go bit by bit:

1 - the word "season" goes inside the wikilink, not outside; 2 - i added one link for Copa del Rey and another for the Copa season (the case being 2007-08), it's supposed to be that way, not just one link OK?; 3 - the birthplace is to be relocated from intro to the body of article, not REMOVED summarily; 4 - box compression please, LAUSANNE only in box my man, fullname appears in storyline; 5 - in links, the name of site followed by "profile" in ALL cases makes for a much more coherent approach; 6 - some corrections seemed a bit strange, for example in PERSONDATA - the last stuff below, before the categories - i had written "Swiss footballer", you "corrected" it to "footballerr".

Attentively, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:50, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think it's better to have only LAUSANNE, but if you must, go ahead and change it to LAUSANNE-SPORT, i won't "hold a grudge" :) However, i have to tell you that your source for the Santander stats is wrong, the BDFUTBOL.com link is in the right (Spanish website, as the Racing de Santander ballclub), he played 23+7+6+0 in his four seasons (36, not 39 as you insert); if you see closely, you'll see that NFT.com also gives him 36. Another thing to wrap it up: in the introductions, let's keep it simple: "...is a footballer who plays for X club in Y country (if the player plays abroad)...", no need to write "club" or "team", it's implied.

Cheers (and by the way, is it me or is User:Banana Fingers a bit on the aggressive?) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:46, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Abdelouahed Chakhsi has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. 2012 Football match officials[edit]

Hello. With regards to the English match officials listed on Football at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament I lean towards putting the British flag next to their names, perhaps with the English flag in parenthesis after their names as a compromise. I believe that when LOCOG provides accommodations for them during the Olympics they will be with the British delegation, and if they are allowed to march in the Opening Ceremony it will be behind the British flag.--MorrisIV (talk) 20:26, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Overlink and ref[edit]

Please read the MoS of overlink Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#Overlinking and underlinking. It save you from expelling from wikipedia by avoiding unnecessary edit war. WP:Footy constantly updated their MoS, and as i creator of about 1,000 articles, i would say may early MoS back to 2007 on some footballers were ugly. and for the citation, every fact should be cited for biographical article, thus a index for match reports is some what importance as a "source", as I READ ALL THE MATCH REPORT AND ADD IT UP. (it because the stats isn't "created" but collected, which i found transfermarkt stats were more likely created than well sourced. transfermarkt itself, a COMMUNITY PROJECT, did not had a system to cite their stats and match report by newspaper nor football club website not broadcasting media, and i found they OFTEN wrong). Any unsourced material, could be challenged and removed. Certainly if without source, User:GiantSnowman would ask where the stats of Mattia Desole came from, and his usual answer is, removed them despite it may be true. Matthew_hk tc 21:25, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for the cat, the MoS stated that there is no specific rule but generally least importance came LAST, especially year of birth and living people cat. Matthew_hk tc 21:41, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
