Badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Fine to say, a separate article you create for Badminton at the Summer Olympics is unnecessary, because the list is still NOT the final confirmation from each NOC, so it is not official, see the talk i place in article talk page, you will more understand. Also, the list will bring to the result section after the draw, so it is too excessive to double the work. Anyway, i hide the list first, as i did in earlier version, before the official list emerge --Aleenf1 13:45, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I hope you see Badzine page, its already claim NOT an official list, at the end, BWF still not yet publish the official list until sometime after June because its need confirmation from each NOC. --Aleenf1 13:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
first, yes, the list will bring to the result section after the draw, but we are still working on Qualification Pages, not only Badminton, see Boxing, Wrestling, Cycling, Judo, Archery, Taekwondo, Shooting, Diving, Water polo and ...
I never read Badzine or another Unofficial websites, we read the qualification Rules and also we have BWF Ranking (1 May). and now we make this unofficial list. after confirmation from each NOC , we will make Official List.--Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:38, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Did you understand? this list is going to build in 5 result articles, each cover single category as did in 2004, try to see that, i did not agree you bring up the unofficial list, it is violate the policy of WP:FUTURE, BWF will publish the official list later, then we only can do it after the confirmation from each NOCs, see the news, Zhang Ning could be not in the position, so don't blurry people. Also you double the work which is unnecessary in the future. Sorry, i redirect back, is still crystal ball that is violate the policy. --Aleenf1 03:47, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Unofficial list is better than nothing, we are making Badminton like other sports. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 08:11, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I can't see BWF publish the unofficial list, please raise the source if you can. Otherwise it is your original research and violate the policy also. --Aleenf1 09:32, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, I've had a look at the article in question, and Aleen's statements are correct. The article violates WP:FUTURE, also the reference that you gave doesn't state the information regarding the lists that you created. Therefore, unless you provide a reference which has that information on it, then you are also violating WP:OR which states no Original Research. Please obtain another reference which shows this list, as the PDF source from the BWF doesn't actually publish and unofficial list. Thanks, The Helpful One (Review) 09:59, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi, i didnt create this list (another user) , but this list is correct. you cant find it on BWF Website directly, but BWF Ranking at 1 May is enough (plus Qualification Rules). this list not change nothing. it just help everybody to know more about olympians!--Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:01, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, those of that are not in the policy, as what you said, i still not satisfy:

  1. How you know the list is correct? The rules is not detail (what in Wikipedia), however, another player can take turn if the qualify player are not take part, conditions like Zhu Lin. That is why BWF still need the confirmation from each NOCs.
  2. So far, BWF are not publish any confirm material about the players to be participate. And until now, i can't see you raise any sources, you just always said you are correct. The WR is pull out to be 50-50 because some of them still very speculative. Thus, it still violate WP:RS, no sources raise.
  3. More importantly, one one site so far, that is Badzine, publish the "dummy list", which is not official, and unverify by BWF itself, thus that still WP:RS problem.

The other, i can't comment, via policy, know more Olympians is not one Wikipedian job, what we want is factual accuracy, thats all. --Aleenf1 14:07, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

A request/suggestion

Mohsen, could you possibly adjust the badminton qualification article to show all those players who are qualified to participate under the May 1 rankings? That is, to show where the NOC has a choice of participants (such as in the women's singles, where China has all 4 of the 1-4 rankings, and thus could enter any three of them; all four are qualified under the BWF rules). This would turn the list into a "who could play" (a mechanical application of the published criteria to the published rankings) rather than a "who will play" list (which is what it seems to claim to be at the moment, and which does require some degree of speculation).

I think this would address Aleen's verifiability issues. It would also increase the information available in the article, by showing where NOCs have options and what those options are. I think it's a win for everyone. Let me know what you think. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 23:00, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

hi, you are right, It is really good idea.--Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Though you response is very good good idea, but you still fail to response and just click rollback to address YOU ARE RIGHT. All the way, i link to May 1 ranking, and NOT use the list that not confirm by BWF until at some point BWF publish the complete list, so support Jonel suggestion, but you just simply response and ignore "a in for everyone suggestion". So, rollback will not solve the problem, i hope you can discuss first before hitting the rollback button --Aleenf1 17:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I wrote my response, many times. you can write in the page about rules and NOC confirmation and possible changes (it is really good) , but you cant hide or delete the list ! i hope it is my last response --Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:Nicaragua at the Beijing Olympics

Hi. No offence intended, but you don't seem to understand how Wikipedia works. The information you have removed and/or altered was properly sourced. All information included in the article comes explicitly from Xinhua. Please do not remove or alter it without providing sources that dispute or contradict it. Xinhua says explicitly that the Nicaraguan men's volleyball team will compete in Beijing, even specifying that it will face Italy. Xinhua also says that Martinez is an archer. Xinhua is a reputable source. That doesn't mean it can't be wrong, but if you know it's wrong, you need to provide sources saying so. Thank you, and if you have further questions about Wikipedia editing policy, please let me know. (I'll also thank you in advance for staying cool and polite.) Before replying, please read this. Aridd (talk) 21:57, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

it is very easy to understand, Xinhua is wrong ! list of qualified archers --Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:58, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for providing that. That's what I wanted you to do. You need to understand that this is not a personal argument: We both want the information included in Wikipedia to be correct, and we both need to respect policy. Now... Your source is the International Archery Federation, which is obviously a trustworthy source. So it does appear that Xinhua has made a mistake on that point. Thank you for drawing it to my attention. Can you now please provide a source proving that Martinez is a shooter? Also, we still need a source proving that Nicaragua is not competing in the men's volleyball. Xinhua says: "In the men's volleyball tournament at the Olympic Games, Nicaragua will first face Italy." Aridd (talk) 22:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
are you check qualification pages ? If You Did , you could find all references about qualified athletes. Volleyball schedule is available in here but if it is not enough, check FIVB website !
and your friend Martinez , is a shooter , check it --Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:27, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Correct, Martinez is indeed a shooter. Xinhua is obviously wrong. I'll fix it. Regarding the volleball... We have contradictory sources, and I'm honestly not sure what to do. On the one hand, the International Volleyball Federation does not mention Nicaragua. On the other hand, the official website of the 2008 Beijing Olympics says that Nicaragua is competing. If you have a suggestion on what to do, please say so. If not, I'll probably edit the article to note that there are contradictory sources. Thank you in any cases for bringing these matters up - although I hope you now know not to remove sourced information without providing a source in return. Please do not do that again. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Aridd (talk) 22:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello again. I've edited the article to include this: Nicaragua's participation in volleyball is unclear. The official website of the 2008 Beijing Olympics states that the Nicaraguan men's volleyball team will compete at the Olympics, and will face Italy in its first match.[5] However, the website of the International Volleyball Federation makes no mention of Nicaragua in its list of qualified teams.[6] This contradiction remains to be explained. Regards, Aridd (talk) 22:53, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
you really disappoint me !, If you did not believe it yet, check it (official schedule from The official website of the 2008 Beijing Olympics) ! i am repeating again, ''you can find all references about qualified athletes in qualification pages'' Please do not add information before checking qualification pages, Please revert your changes before me --Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to say this just once: Don't be personal. You're here in Wikipedia to contribute in a constructive manner. Insulting behaviour will get you nowhere. I'll remain polite with you if you start being polite with me. Now... Having looked at that page, it does seem to confirm Nicaragua's non-participation. (I couldn't have checked it, because I didn't know about it! I've been asking you to provide sources, so next time, instead of being snide, kindly provide such links right from the start!) I'll edit the article to remove the reference to volleyball. Thank you (as I said) for your contributions. Thank you also for not reverting it yourself; you've behaved responsibly in that regard. And thank you (finally) for your minor edits to other articles I've created. Now if you can just learn to not make personal attacks, I'm sure we can both contribute together to improve Wikipedia in future. :) Good night to you! Aridd (talk) 23:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
sorry if i made you angry, but you made me angry. because right from the start, i said that check Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but you did not. my reference link about Archery is availabe at Archery at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Qualification, you did not check it too.
but i was always polite with you And i was not personal. anyway, be cool --Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:07, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi

I wonder what's the source for your latest edit. ICF doesn't specify qualification by single events, only by groups of events (K-men, K-women, C-Men).

You wrote that Israel got a quota in K-1 1000m, but that's definitely wrong - they got a quota in 500m. Otherwise another Canoer would qualify instead of Michael Kolganov, who competed only in 500m at the qualifying event.--Nitsansh (talk) 00:43, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, i made this page by qualification tournaments , according to ICF list, Belgium decided not to take place (K1 1000) and normally replaced by next rank (Israel). Israel didnot qualify in K1 500 but I added Israel in K1 500, they can participate in this event because they will use same athlete (Qualification is attributed to the NOC, not athlete).--Mohsen1248 (talk) 07:20, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
This is strange... Israel NOC was informed by ICF that they have a quota in 500m... that's why Kolganov, who competed in that event, goes to Beijing, and not Roey Yellin who competed in 1000m... Do you have a reliable source that says Israel got a quota in 1000m?--Nitsansh (talk) 21:23, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
no, i havent, but i think it doesn't change anything. Isreal is qualified in both events (by same athlete). --Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:59, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
It makes no difference for the rest of the world, but it does for Israel... if the quota was in 1000m, Michael Kolganov wouldn't go to his 3rd Olympics, and would not have been the flag bearer...--Nitsansh (talk) 16:15, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I understand you , but i still think It doesn't change qualification page. Belgium decided not to take place and it made a new quota in Men's Kayak (500m or 1000m). highest non-qualified rank in both events is Israel. and Israel NOC has decided to send Kolganov --Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Israel NOC decided to send Kolganov because the quota made available for Israel was in 500m. It wouldn't be the case if they got a quota in 100m, because Roey Yellin is the top canoer in that event.--Nitsansh (talk) 14:39, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Weightlifting in Beijing

Hey, I wonder how to deal with the new IWF documents here. It's clearly incomplete, so I don't think any individual entries should be removed yet. But what to do with the extra entries? Azerbaijan has a total of 9(!) men in the competition. Do you have any clue if the IWF would include reserve athletes in the list, or if these are redistributed spots? I've written it like that for now, but I'm getting my doubts, with Azerbaijan getting four extra spots.

MrYIndeed (talk) 17:26, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

no, i am sure, they didnt recieve any extra spot. IWF rules is clear (they cant send more than 6 weightlifters) i think they sent this names to IWF to get ID Card (maybe for possible changes), they will select 6 weightlifters between these names. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:37, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay. I'll rewrite it like that then. MrYIndeed (talk) 17:44, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Hojjatolah Vaezi

Hi, I just saw you changed his name and I was wondering why? Well, I see you are Iranian, so I do believe what you did, but when you check it here you can see that they at Beijing say that his name is Vaezi Hojjatolah. Can you give a clarification for this? Thanks AmandaT/C 10:28, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, it is a mistake by beijing.com and Archery.org. i am iranian and no doubt his given name is Hojjatollah and his surname is Vaezi. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 10:41, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Futsal world cup tie break

Can you explain the tie break rule that put Italy into the next round at the expense of Portugal? Is it the results of matches between the three tied teams?--Nitsansh (talk) 17:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

YES, it is a tiebreak between ITA, POR and PAR
Paraguay 1 W - 1 L - Goals: 6-5
Italy 1 W - 1 L - Goals: 5-5
Portugal 1 W - 1 L - Goals: 3-4

Regulation Book, Page 24 --Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:50, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I hate big PDF files...
Do you have an idea if the "head-to-head first" is the general rule for all international futsal tournaments? I don't like this rule because it enables 2 teams that play in the final round of group stage to fix a result that is good for both teams. In this case, Italy could lose by 2 goals and still qualify, and there was nothing Portugal could do. Meanwhile, Paraguay knew that a win by any margin would get them through. The difference between 1 goal and 2 goals margin was place 1 or 2. I don't think there was something fishy here, but with this tie-break system this possibility exist and it won't be if goals difference were the first tie break. In the latter case, Portugal would advance if they had won by 2 goals, no matter the result of Paraguay vs Italy.--Nitsansh (talk) 23:16, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I completely hate head-to-head rule ! and your reason is correct, I watched this match today Italy lost on purpose by 2 goals with no doubt because they think Group E (Brazil, Ukraine, Iran or Czech) is easier than Group F (Spain, Russia, Argentina) ! Paraguay's 4th Goal was a joke !
but FIFA chose this rule because some of teams are very weak and Goal difference is not completely fair. in second round, competition format is same as Football World Cup format (page 26)! head-to-head is not important ! --Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Let's see if I got it right... in the second round, the first tie break will be goals difference? If that's the case, it's the strangest tournamrent rules I ever heard of...
I think a possible solution to the problem of "head-to-head" tie-break in the first round could be a different set-up of the second round groups, so that teams that qualify from one group will go into the same group in the 2nd round, and the result between them will be carried over to the 2nd round, so even in a situation that a team allready qualifies before the last group matches, they would have an incentive to get a good result if they know it would count in the next stage. This will also make the tournament a few days shorter, as there will be one less match for each team in the second round, and no necessity of a rest day between the end of first round and start of the second. Besides that... I don't think a group format beyond the first stage is a good idea in general... I'm old enough to recall a similar system in the world cups of 1974, 1978 & 1982, and it didn't work well...
back to the group B scenario... I watched the ITA-PAR match again this morning, and it didn't look like Italy has lost by 2 goals intentionally... If they were aware of the result in the other game, than until a few seconds from the end POR-THA was level, and if the match ended that way, a win for Paraguay by any margin would have put them ahead of Italy... and also at that time, they could be certain only that the group winner will be playing against Russia, while the runner-up will face Brazil. Do you think Brazil is the weaker team?--Nitsansh (talk) 15:55, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
yes, in next round the first tie break will be goals difference, every format has its advantages and disadvantages ! but current format is very strange !
back to Italy-Paraguay, this match finished 5 minutes before the POR-THA match, Italy lost to solve every possible problems. i watched this match in an italian TV and my source is an italian TV Commentator. Brazil is the world strongest team , but Italy can beat two other teams of Group E (Iran and Ukraine) ,they didn't want to face Spain and Russia (and also Argenrina) in second round. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for File:BeemLogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:BeemLogo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AMAG2009.gif)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:AMAG2009.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Page titles

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Sabaye Qom F.C. a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Saba Qom F.C.. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Duplicate articles about "Chess at the Asian Games"

Hi Mohsen1248 ! Voorlandt and myself wanted to transform Chess at the Asian Games into a redirect to Chess at the 2006 Asian Games, as both articles deal with the same subject and the latter is more filled. I see you have reverted our changes (see your revert here and your revert there). Could you please explain to me why you have done that and what your opinion is on the matter ? SyG (talk) 13:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, because these are two different pages, Chess tournament will be held at the 2010 Asian Games. also I think "Chess at the Asian Games" should move to "Board games at the Asian Games", see sports list at the 2010 Asian Games.--Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
All right, I have moved the page as you suggested. SyG (talk) 10:16, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding AYG 2009 presentation formats

Hi, instead of constant reversions or even screaming in edit summaries [3], would you pray tell just why should the presentation be different?--Huaiwei (talk) 14:17, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

that was Olympics and this is Asian Youth Games. this is not a single event page , see this page, this format is good with the details. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:47, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
You are not answering the question. Obviously the events involved are different, but kindly explain in intellectual detail why the presentation of facts should be different. And in case you are oblivious, the format presented here is exactly the same as that in the page you cite above (and which happened to be mainly authored by me too anyway). If you are going to insist on introducing an entirely new format just for the AYG, I would expect an attempt to gather concensus from involved editors or the relevant Wikiproject.--Huaiwei (talk) 14:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
for Olympics, We have a page for each event, but for Asian Youth Games, we have a page for each sport. this is a BIG difference. so the page must be as short as possible. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:54, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
And why must it be as short as possible? You set the standards alone? Did you consult anyone else prior to removing perfectly encyclopedic information?--Huaiwei (talk) 11:44, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
I have noticed that you have persisted to revert the above said article almost on a daily basis, despite no contributions to this discussion. I am now inviting opinions from third-parties to break this impasse, and I hope you may respect the outcome of that discussion. If you decide to ignore concensus and persist with disruptive editing, I will have no choice and initiate disciplinary action against you. So kindly communicate your intentions and work together in a mature, responsible manner. Thank you.--Huaiwei (talk) 08:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Just my little input on this issue. For notability reason I think, we restrict ourselves to one page per event. But because we have only one page, we need to provide the details while being concise, which be tricky. Maybe we should try to follow the Olympic format as close as possible, like the date during group stage like in this page [4]. And I think we need to sort this out, because our work now could well becomes the template for the future AYG as well as the YOG the year.Frankie goh (talk) 08:45, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I got your points but this format has many problems. in this format you never use the right side of the page and this make the page unnecessary big. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 02:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I fail to see the problem you cite. In fact, your format attempts to squeeze information into two columns, while the original format flows from top to bottom, so if there is an issue of things spilling into the right of the screen, it has to be your preferred presentation format. Either way, I have never seen an issue with this whether it is on my widescreen lcd or my tiny laptop screen.--Huaiwei (talk) 00:59, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

About 2009 FIBA Asia Champs

I think it's better to show initials of East Asian player's Given name, that includes KOR, JPN, CHN and TPE. --阿pp (talk) 16:01, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Maybe you are right but I think the current format is better because this is similar to other basketball pages. anyhow remove Japan from this list ! --Mohsen1248 (talk) 16:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Too many similar family names in these countries. For example, the Yi. Americans see it will know that's Yi Jianlian, however, Chinese people may ask: Yi who? or Which Yi?. Same situation happens in KOR, JPN and TPE too. --阿pp (talk) 16:10, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
I know, but in the current China NT, they have only one Yi. (Japanese names are similar to western names) --Mohsen1248 (talk) 16:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
But not everybody know the fact that "they have only one Yi" , and BTW, while wrting initials, pay attention on KOR, CHN and TPE names, some given name has two characters, it's better to list two instead of one. e.g. Yi J.L. not Yi J. and Kim J.S. not Kim J. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 阿pp (talkcontribs) 16:15, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
And for JPN names, I don't know clearly if an initial would be ok. --阿pp (talk) 16:18, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Look at this page. everyone can get the foul name by clicking on the surename ! but about two characters names I am agre with you. I didn't attend that. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 16:22, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
But not all people know to put a mouse on a name, a newcomer of wikipedia maybe confused. I think edits are made for better understanding. Every time East Asian people see only a family name will definitely not be happy. :( --阿pp (talk) 16:27, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
OK ! I am still not agree with you but this is not realy important. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 16:37, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

why undo?

A "hide" option maybe helpful to readers, wikipedia should be easy to read. This article is too long. Readers may want to hide some trivial stuff. --阿pp (talk) 12:21, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I am strongly not agree, this article is not that long, please don't change the usual format of basketball articles in Wikipedia. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 12:24, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Alright. Another thing, I want to know why you insist use United Arab Emirates instead of UAE, using the full name will not fit some table in just one line, looks ugly. Or can we widen some table?--阿pp (talk) 12:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
which table ???!!! these tables are wide enough in my browser !! --Mohsen1248 (talk) 12:31, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Group D, Group F, and 9-12 chart. And in stat area, SRI v JPN: SRI rebs players take 2 lines, JPN v TPE: TPE Asts players take 2 lines. Change the table width from 170 to 180 can solve the UAE problem in my browser.--阿pp (talk) 12:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, I did it ! --Mohsen1248 (talk) 12:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Reduce athletics results?

Hi there Mohsen. I saw that you've got started on the Indoor athletics at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games article. Can I make a recommendation?

Normally, complete results coverage is reserved for only the major events (i.e. World Championships in Athletics and Athletics at the Summer Olympics). At lesser athletics competitions – such as the European Athletics Indoor Championships, Athletics at the Pan American Games, and the Asian Indoor Games – it is normally better to just list the medallists of each event. The reason for this is two-fold: firstly, it is our job as Wikipedians to focus on the most important information. An article with all the results of an athletics competition on one page can overwhelm the reader. Secondly, smaller competitions feature athletes of a lower standard than major events, thus most of the non-medalling athletes tend to have achieved little success outside their own national championships. It is quite unlikely that the red-linked athletes will have their own articles at any point.

On this basis, I suggest going for a style more like the 2009 South American Championships in Athletics article. Alternately, you could try using the style I did for 2009 IAAF World Athletics Final and its results sub page. However, I did this on the grounds that all the listed athletes were inherently notable; they were among the world's best athletes that season. Just be wary that listing of excessive statistics is frowned upon per WP:NOT#STATS (there is little commentary on the importance/value of the listed results). Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 12:23, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi , I got your points but I am not agree, Pages with more information are often Better , also this page won't overwhelm anyone because this won't be a long list. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:02, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough then. The official website link (here) isn't working for me. Is there a better link to an official athletics page? I'll try to get some sources and information for a brief commentary on the athletics events. Take care! Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 22:35, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Cue sports at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games

What is your source for all of the name changes you are making at articles like Cue sports at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games? Please cite sources in the articles, and use the edit summary feature to let others know what you are changing and why, or myself and other editors are very likely to simply revert your edits as unexplained weirdness. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 22:36, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

I am comparing the names of athletes at these two events, Cue sports at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games and Cue sports at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games. Arabic names are too long and I am correcting their names from the official arabic sites. e.g. for Iraqi athletes and for Qatari athletes and etc. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. It would probably be good if you mentioned these sources at least on the talk page of the affected articles. The issue is that an enormous number of twits make strange changes to names and nicknames and other small but extremely significant bits of data in player articles, especially snooker players for some reason, so any edit that changes a player's name is automatically highly suspect. It would be reassuring if you used the edit summary feature, as well. It's very unusual for experienced editors to ignore that function, and a disproportionately high percentage of problem edits (usually by noob) do not use edit summaries, again making such edits automatically suspect. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 08:48, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

The article Uzbekistan at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable, info already included in Asian Indoor Games.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. asian indoor games

hello mohsen1248. you edit a new indoor record of leila rajabi of 17.32 m shot put. unfortunately your ref is in arabic. on the official result page of asianathletic.org (http://www.asianathletics.org/AIC2010/AIC2010-R1-W-D1.htm) the mark is 16.32 m. what is correct? Thanks for answer. Montell 74 (talk) 12:02, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, my source is in persian (not arabic), unfortunately the official result page of asianathletic.org has many mistakes and this is one of them. all of the Iranian sources and the official website of the tournament says 17.32 is correct. and since Iran is the host of the tournament, the Iranian sources are more reliable. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:26, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanx for your information. Sorry, that i confuse the language. Maybe it would be better if you edit your refs based on the english version on the official web site. Montell 74 (talk) 21:02, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
ok, I did it, actually I didn't know they have an english version ! also if you check this page (http://www.asianathletics.org/AIC2010/AIC2010-R1-W-D1.htm) once again, they already fixed this error. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:16, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi, this is my pleasure, I planned to do it long time ago but I forgot !!! --Mohsen1248 (talk) 06:00, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Good work on finding that out! Everything I read wasn't very clear on what happened. You're right about the Asian names, that's why they can be difficult sometimes. I try to use the IAAF biography names when possible. That way, if their names have been linked before on different articles you can check with the "what links here" button in the toolbox. Thanks for undoing the name and medal changes but not reverting the whole edit. Take care! Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 01:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

FIFA is not an absolute source for the Iranian names. Zadeh is a pasvand and his names is Mozaffarizadeh. In this case, you should move Mohammad Ahmadzadeh to Ahmad Zadeh, Ahmad Reza Abedzadeh to Abad Zadeh, Bakhtiarizadeh to Bakhtiari Zadeh and etc. is there any rule in wikipedia that says FIFA Website is god and unchangable ? --Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:11, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

I absolutely understand where your coming from and you have a very good point but I just think that FIFA registers their referees based on ID and passport and not based on what Mehrnews , Isna, Ipna or any other Iranian news agency. My last name is Ghafari Far and in my passport, my licence and even university id it says Ghafari Far. and about the other names as I said you make a really good point. Sohrab 0611 (talk) 04:38, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, but Iranian passports are not something unchangeable Since we are not using Rasmolkhatte Englisi ! what is the difference of Khosro Heydari and Alireza Heidari ? the difference is they didn't get their passport in the same day ! this may confuse non-iranian users. many people in the world know Hossein Rezazadeh as simply Reza ! because he won the Athens Gold medal with the name Reza Zadeh or Hamed Haddadi is still more known as Ehadadi, just because someone in Edarae Gozarname was careless ! both FIFA and Iranian passports are not absolute source. see this link. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:38, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, where can one find a source for the death date of Shamseddin Seyed-Abbasi? There are two external links in that article: one that doesn't work and one that mentions 2003 as death year. Appreciating your input. --155.56.68.214 (talk) 10:01, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I added a source in persian, It happens because Iran has a different calendar and transferring the dates sometimes causes mistakes. he died in the last month of 1382 year (2003/2004). --Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:40, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. 2010 Asian Indoors

Hi Mohsen! The results of the Indoor Championships are looking a bit problematic now aren't they? Do you have any information that the medals have been re-assigned, or do you just have reports of the failed tests? I'm not sure whether it's right to change the medallists, unless an official decision has been made (similar things happen with tainted Olympic medals). Unless the source says the medals have been redistributed, then it's probably better to use highlighting and footnotes to explain the situation for the moment. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 13:36, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I already knew these positive tests (since 4 months ago) but wait for english sources. according to Iranian Athletics Federation (tournament organizer) the medals are redistributed except the relay medal but I know AAA and IAAF are more reliable, I think the current edit is better unless IAAF or ACC say another thing, what do you think ? personally I have doubt about 3000metres bronze medalist, cuz she didn't win any medal in this championship (and as the result no doping test) --Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:55, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
I think that sounds very reasonable. As far as the 3000m medallist goes, I suppose we will never know. I think Iranian sources are fine – with the exception of Japan, Asian athletics is not very well recorded in English. I even had lots of trouble trying to find out why Azerbaijani Ramil Guliyev missed much of this season. Outside of the very major events (Asian Games/Outdoor Champs, Chinese Games, East Asian Games), I've come to the conclusion that only a couple of internet sources can be found on these topics! Thanks fir updating the medals. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 22:21, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

2010 SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPICS MEDAL TALLY

Hi Mohsen, this is kuyacomeback.. I just keep wondering why you are deleting the medal tally containing the distributed mixed NOC medals. Bro, take this true example into account... right now, there is a doubles competition in men's table tennis... Bro, I am going to ask you a query,,, how are you going to tally the medal of the tennis competition-boys' doubles when the first team, which is eventually two Russians, defeats the second team which is composed of Great Britain and Czech Republic? Are you going to put the gold medal of Russia, if in case the two Russians won, in the mixed team? Of course not bro!!! Its not for continental, its for their own country... When you put the gold medal earned to mixed tally instead of Russia, it will be unfair to Russia. Of course, the silver medal earned also by the second placer should be placed in their respective countries then to be consistent with the tallying of the gold medal.

RE: 2010 SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPICS MEDAL TALLY

bro, reply to the discussion, we need to make a consensus right now,,, pls —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuyacomeback (talkcontribs) 13:37, 20 August 2010 (UTC) bro,, are you still there?hey, dont be angry,we just really need to make a consensus...the ne you are talking about the early olympics,,there is really a mixed team there butunlike here, there are athletes competing for their own country who was just joined in the mixed events because of the lack of athletes.. i really think medals should be distributed to each country joined in the mixed team but we have to clarify to the readers and viewers that this mixed team is just really composed of one gold, silver and bronze. we can show that by putting footnotes and an Official total at the end of the medal table bro..Kuyacomeback (talk) 13:58, 20 August 2010 (UTC) bro, if you arent replying, that means you agree with us,,, silence means yes bro..Kuyacomeback (talk) 14:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

no, it means I am busy right now --Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

France counts

Hi there! Thanks again for the correction on the count - that mixed swimming medal was my misunderstand. When I was reviewing the official PDF results page, I ran through it by listed order, missing the fact that the result was tied. I have corrected this on the France at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics page. Thanks also for the two missing Taekwondo results - this is very hard to see on the official results page. The official organisers need to put a 'Bronze' medal icon on these matches to help me I think!.GreenB.live (talk) 22:39, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

No problem it happens. I'm creating my own version of medal winners and medal table in my PC. then it isn't that hard to me to check the medals and as of tonight the medal table is correct. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:31, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Cycling youth olympics

Hey, check the site you posted yourself once more: http://gis.singapore2010.sg/RINF-app/generator/cat/sch/lan/ENG/dis/CY/sch-dis-dat-rep.xml It does show also BMX, Cross Country and Time Trial Finals. But it does not show the Medal Image somehow... Kante4 (talk) 07:34, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

I checked it many times, yes it does not show the Medal Image (because Cycling has only 1 event) so what is the problem ? --Mohsen1248 (talk) 08:10, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

2010 Summer Youth Olympics medal table – tally

Hi Mohsen1248, thanks for all the updates to the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics medal table. Phew – all the medals have been awarded. I just want to point out that the total number of gold, silver and bronze medals don't match. Right now, it states 202 gold, 200 silver and 221 bronze medals. I understand more bronze medals were awarded as some events did not distinguish between a third-place or a fourth-place finish and gave out two bronze medals each consequentually. But the gold and silver medals? And is the number of bronze medals listed accurate? Wanted to check. Regards, ANGCHENRUI Talk 08:29, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

I think it's correct based on my counts
201 events, we had a shared gold medal in Swimming ==> 202 Gold and 200 Silver
extra bronze medals : 9 Judo, 1 Swimming (shared bronze), 10 Taekwondo. 201+20=221 --Mohsen1248 (talk) 09:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Hmm... okay. Are there any sources to prove that? I think we should explain, with references of course, in the medal table article this "discrepancy" so that others will understand what is going on. Just for the benefit of others. Cheers, ANGCHENRUI Talk 10:20, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes of course, is this ok ? and this one for the shared bronze medal in swmimming. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:07, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay great. Do you mind explaining this in the medal table article? I guess a few sentences will do. ANGCHENRUI Talk 10:54, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
I think it's better to write it. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:58, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I mean are you going to write? Or have you written already? I'm referring to the medal table article. Cheers, ANGCHENRUI Talk 07:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
If I may plug it, how about taking the line (plus citations) from the medal winners article lead? It's all there. Strange Passerby (talk) 09:07, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Sure, that line's certainly fine. Just add it first, we can always talk about phrasing later. Better done earlier than later. ANGCHENRUI Talk 10:45, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
thanks Strange Passerby, to me the current edit is fine. --Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:58, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Copyright problem in reverted article

Hi. I appreciate your interest in helping cleanup the ongoing contributor copyright investigation, but I have to ask you to please be careful to follow the process. In this edit, you restored copyrighted content to publication. This one wasn't particularly hard to find, as the content was copied from the source that Darius had cited. It is better to be slow and thorough than to inadvertently restore a copyright violation to publication, since your removal of the template makes you responsible for it and since under those circumstances other contributors may not know to check for it. The continued presence of infringing material on Wikipedia can cause legal problems for the project and its reusers. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:46, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
