Why are you blaming me?

I didn't do anything with any of your pages. Why are you blaming me? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.145.159.44 (talk) 05:58, 5 May 2007 (UTC).

Blog Potato is a reliable source.

Blog Potato is a reliable source. All of there article are well written and they are a recognized source of blog information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.12.33.136 (talk) 15:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC).

You should actually read WP:RS for an idea of what is meant by "reliable source". Blog Potato is not, and please stop adding it to Wikipedia, as that is considered spamming. -SpuriousQ (talk) 07:47, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Thankyou

Sorry for the late delay, i only just noticed. Thankyou for reverting the vandalism on my userpage! --Chickenfeed9 18:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Please Contact Me

SpuriousQ, please contact me at blogpotato@mail.com. I would like to talk with you. I have a wiki on my page and need some help getting it going. I wish you would help me. You make a tiny difference here, at my page you would make a huge difference. I would like you to run the wiki. Please contact me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.25.151.172 (talk) 01:15, 7 May 2007 (UTC).

You deprodded both of these pages. Are these notable? Am I missing something? Pablo Talk | Contributions 09:21, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I would say so, going from personal knowledge but without digging up references. Rusty Foster was nominated for deletion twice (Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Rusty Foster, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rusty Foster (2nd nomination)) and survived, so by association it would seem kuro5hin would easily survive as well. For future reference, you should search for previous XfDs and/or the article's talk pages before prodding, because 1) article's that have already been discussed on AfD are not candidates for prod, and 2) it gives you an idea of whether the deletion would be controversial, as prods are only to be used for uncontroversials deletions. -SpuriousQ (talk) 07:45, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

oh, thanks SpuriousQ. i didn't think it would actually show up.... but know i know. thanks

Admin request?

Hey, I saw the vandalism on your user page, that's why I came here again. I'm not a stalker or anything. But while I'm here, did you ever accept majorly's request for you to become an administrator? Mattbash 00:42, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Mattbash, good to hear from you again. I decided not to accept the nomination at that time. -SpuriousQ (talk) 06:07, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

How are you doing today? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pendlehaven (talkcontribs) 02:06, 9 May 2007 (UTC).

What to do?

Apparently the pages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_II_of_Russia and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Ford are being targeted by some immature individuals. Is there a way to stop them from adding nonsense?

Thanks again for the help, Pendlehaven

Yeah, follow the guidelines at WP:VAND. Basically, just revert the edits, warn the user, and report to WP:AIV if they continue despite the warnings. Thanks for helping to stop vandalism! -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:17, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

How does one warn a user?

Thanks again, Pendlehaven

It's explained in WP:VAND and WP:WARN. Edit the user's talk page and add, for example: {{subst:uw-test1}} ~~~~. You should also get in the habit of signing your comments on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~), that produces your name and a timestamp. -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! Do you mean sign it like this: Pendlehaven 02:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)?

Yep :-) -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Adhami

The Adhami thing isn't vandalism I don't understand.

It's something completely made up by you or your friends and it should be manifest that it does not belong in a serious encyclopedia. Perhaps you are not actively attempting to damage Wikipedia, in which case you are right to say it is not vandalism, but the article should still be deleted under notability or nonsense guidelines, as it has many times in the past week. With respect to the slightest chance that it actually is a notable topic, please find and add proper citations that establish that notability, as it is the only way the article can remain. -SpuriousQ (talk) 03:19, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert

Thanks for reverting my userpage. --Ann Stouter 04:06, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Terrence Myers

Again with the Terrence Myers article, I will be adding his true significance shortly. He is a starting player for a AAA baseball team in Calgary, AB. He will be playing for a University team next year and it is likely that he may be drafted to the MLB. He was also a member of the Calgary AAA Westwood Hockey team, winning several city and provincial championships. I just need to get my sources together and they will be posted, thanks again.

I again direct you to WP:BIO. You might want to restart the article from scratch, taking all information from only what can be gleaned from reliable sources, because the only relevant part of the current article is the bit about the baseball career. However, even this likely is not enough, as minor league players are generally not considered notable enough for inclusion here. -SpuriousQ (talk) 06:05, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

What is necessary to become a "reliable" source?

What is necessary to become a "reliable" source? How much traffic? What does my site have to have before links can be made to my website. Obiviously, it doesn't matter that the articles are well written and very relevant to the Wikipedia entry. I am guessing you would rather have a Wikipedia entry missing information that is relevant, than a link from a small website. I am just curious what the benchmark is, for my website to be relevant enough for Wikipedia?

This is what is listed on Wikipedia: "Reliable sources are credible published materials with a reliable publication process; their authors are generally regarded as trustworthy, or are authoritative in relation to the subject at hand."

How is it not credible material? How is the my publication process not reliable? How am I not an authority in Technology? (I have 2 computer-related degrees.) You have not told me which of these requirements, I have not qualified for. You just delete my links. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Blog Potato70.12.99.194 (talk) 14:04, 12 May 2007 (UTC).

Self-published blogs generally don't count as reliable sources. Reliable sources are things like published books, magazines, or the web content of known and trusted authors. There is no benchmark in terms of amount of traffic or college degrees, and the fact that you're trying to put links to your blog on Wikipedia suggests a conflict of interest. -SpuriousQ (talk) 18:24, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Self published blogs GENERALLY dont count as reliable sources. Was my article cleary written? Yes. Was the article helpful? Yes. Did the article provide information that helped the Wikipedia entry? Yes. Just because it is self-published doesn't mean that isn't helpful to Wikipedia. I think that anything that is helpful to Wikipedia, regardless if it is self-published should be included. I agree that if an article was linked to that was a piece of crap, it should be deleted, but my was article was helpful and informative.

It is not a conflict of interest, because I was adding the link to help out Wikipedia. I am going to include my Blog as the reference if the information came from my blog, though. I added it to help Wikipedia. Blog Potato 11:36, 13 May, 2007

A self-published blog is considered reliable only there is strong evidence in independent, mainstream media that it is respected and reliable. I highly doubt this is the case for Blogpotato, but feel free to provide citations if you disagree. Per Wikipedia's verifiability policy, we need to only cite trustworthy sources and not user-generated content. -SpuriousQ (talk) 16:47, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Where is this posted: "A self-published blog is considered reliable only there is strong evidence in independent, mainstream media that it is respected and reliable." I am not saying it isn't, but I cannot find it. Blog Potato 14:57, 13 May, 2007

WP:V#Self-published_sources_.28online_and_paper.29 is the relevant policy. -SpuriousQ (talk) 20:11, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Please also sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~); it produces your IP and automatic timestamp. -SpuriousQ (talk) 20:13, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

So which of this disqualifies my blog?

Self-published material may be acceptable when produced by a well-known, professional researcher (scholarly or non-scholarly) in a relevant field. These may be acceptable so long as their work has been previously published by reliable third-party publications. However, exercise caution: if the information in question is really worth reporting, someone else is likely to have done so.

Material from self-published sources and sources of questionable reliability may be used in articles about themselves, so long as:

   * it is relevant to their notability;
   * it is not contentious;
   * it is not unduly self-serving;
   * it does not involve claims about third parties, or about events not directly related to the subject;
   * there is no reasonable doubt as to who wrote it.

None of this says : delete a reference in an entry, if it comes from a blog.

BlogPotato is not produced by a well-known professional researcher, and if any of the information that I deleted or was attributed to Blogspot was in fact relevant or accurate, it would be covered by a clearly reliable source that is not self-published. Again, Wikipedia itself is user-generated so we require NON-user-generated sources to back our assertions. Sorry. -SpuriousQ (talk) 22:55, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
And the list you copied above is for self-published sources used in articles about themselves, e.g., if BlogPotato were used as source for a BlogPotato article. -SpuriousQ (talk) 22:57, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

No, and it's pretty likely from your other contributions that it was not intended to be a serious page. If you actually do want an article to remain, ensure that is clearly asserts the notability of the topic and is backed by reliable sources. Thanks. -SpuriousQ (talk) 12:14, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I was taking a look in the Deep Space Nine page and it's a shame that the article about the "plagiarism" or co-option of Babylon 5's picth was deleted.

I think that though the subject is controversial the Wikipedia must at least give some references about it. Hopefully the links in the discussion page will be useful.

Maybe I'll post them in the Deep Space Nine discussion page.

No problem, just saw you making edits and thought I'd give you a welcome. Can't say I'm familiar with Babylon 5, but sounds like bringing it up on the discussion page would be the way to go. LIS

I agree it may not be relevant to put an external link on sections such as Histology. However regarding the LIS section, it is worth indicating some Laboratory Information Systems external links : someone who consult this LIS page and want to get information on what it is, how it works, may probably also need to find a LIS system, and can get the needed information from the same page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Technidata (talkcontribs).

Hi Technidata, thanks for writing. Wikipedia really isn't meant to have link directories as were in the Laboratory information system article, in which each link is merely to an example of an LIS. Have a look at the external link guidelines and Wikipedia is not a repository of links. I'd also direct you to WP:COI, since given your username and the links you were adding, it is probably appropriate for you to be familiar with it. -SpuriousQ (talk) 10:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
