Gemini

Gemini

Hi, I see you have nominated Gemini (2002 Tamil film) for becoming a GA. But do you feel the article is as good as it can be? Some statements like "...Saran named his production house as "Gemini Productions" under which he produced films like Aaru, Vattaram and Muni." then "The music was scored by Bharathwaj, who has composed music for three of four Saran's previous films." and Gemini Ganesan's cameo role appear unsourced. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:51, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm just stating the facts. WP:OBVIOUS That Saran produced film under "Gemini Productions" can be seen from the footer "Filmography of Saran". That Bharathwaj has been a composer for most movies directed by Saran is a fact. Except for Alli Arjunu which had ARR and Modhi Vilaiyadu which had Colonial Cousins. We can't find citations to prove for every member of the cast, can we? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 13:44, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Btw, I don't know if the article is as good to become a good article. Its currently rated as a stub. I tried requesting an assessment, but the wikimedia servers were down. Although I tried almost a dozen times but with no luck. So nominated it for GA. If not GA, it deserves atleast B class. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 13:52, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Never mind, I've fixed it now. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:43, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
@Kailash29792 Have added a citation for that Gemini Productions. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 14:47, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Gemini (2002 Tamil film)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Gemini (2002 Tamil film) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Gemini GA review

I doubt if he even remembers he has to review the article. I have already contacted the man who will review the article Gemini (2002 Tamil film), but he has not responded yet. Guess you can try contacting him. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:33, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Please go ahead, and if QatarStarsLeague (the reviewer) does not respond within the next two days (maybe u can decide the time limit), u can ask for someone else to take over the review. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:54, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Vensatry Is there a problem here? [1] Is it against MOS are anything? -- Sriram speak up 16:15, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Though it's a level three header, it's good to avoid similar titles to avoid confusion, better to go with different terms. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:21, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Vensatry, You got any alternatives that would suit? -- Sriram speak up 16:23, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
It's better to leave it as such since that's a small section. If you want to split that further, rename it as something like "Response" or whichever suits you. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:37, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Vensatry, I prefer 'Reception'. Its not gonna be a problem. Reception is the term that suits the best. -- Sriram speak up 16:41, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Peer Review

@ Vensatry, Kailash29792 Hey guys! Since the completion of the GA review, I have made significant improvements to Gemini (2002 Tamil film). Do you guys think it is good enough for FA? Can I request for a peer review? I believe the content is pretty good. The only thing I'm not sure about is the style, the separation of paras etc. Can you guys leave some suggestions in the article's talk page for further improvement?

Thanks in advance. If you guys are busy with something else, please carry on with that. -- Sriram speak up 12:41, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Neither of us have significantly contributed to any featured articles on wiki, although Vensatry has written many featured lists. But if u can read the FA criteria and if the article meets all of them, then u can go for a FA review. But I do promise to help. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 12:46, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Kailash29792! If you guys haven't, then how me? I'm just a new kid on the block. As I said, the contents may be sufficient, but I'm not so confident about it meeting the criteria. A little guidance would help. -- Sriram speak up 12:57, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
As I am busy today, here are some suggestions by me that can help improve the article further:
  • None of the references have an "accessdate". Pls fill in that value with the date the reference was added to the article.
  • Make a thorough analysis to see that the article does not use any form of English other British or Indian (eg: Indian articles should not use American English)
  • MDY format is used mainly by Americans, and we Indians follow the DMY format.
  • The "Inspiration" section can come just after production. (Never mind, I fixed this one)
  • "One of the songs was shot at Jungfraujoch in Switzerland" - which song? Even if it is not mentioned in the source, you must mention the song name on Wiki.
  • "The music received mixed reviews from critics" - Sify and Rediff have been positive of it, only Vijay Vanniarajan has been critical of it.
That's all I can find to say. Until then, happy editing! ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 13:59, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll look into it and do the needful. -- Sriram speak up 14:06, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Taking this article to FA is not an easy task. I'd advise you to open a separate PR, and invite as many editors as possible in order to get a detailed view. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:14, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Vensatry I'll do that. But personally, if you have any suggestions for improvements, pls let me know. -- Sriram speak up 16:22, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
I'll do that. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:27, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 16:44, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Vensatry, Kailash29792 I have opened the peer review for the article. Feel free to leave your suggestions there. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 16:44, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Do feel free to list Gemini at Wiki's Guild of Copy Editors, so that it can achieve perfect formality. I am telling u Sriram to list it, so that the Guild will notify u whenever they make edits. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 04:52, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Kailash29792 Done. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 05:18, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

@Sriram, good work changing all the dates in Gemini to DMY format, must have been hard. But what about the accessdates? Well anyway, there's only this one source [2] which I am having trouble adding content from to Chandralekha. Do pls help if u have time. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 16:26, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Kailash29792 Are the access dates really that important? If I have to add access dates for the almost 70 references, I have to checkout each of my previous edits. I can't remember when I added them. But I'm sure all of them are still online now. -- Sriram speak up 16:31, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
That's just why I said "Never mind", meaning they may not matter. As for the content extraction abt that 100 years Indian cinema, thank u very much. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 17:23, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Kailash29792 Anytime bro! You are welcome. -- Sriram speak up 18:01, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Gemini (2002 Tamil film)

  • Scrub that; another editor is now working on the article; it's my fault because i forgot to mark the request. I've reverted the cast section as you asked. Good luck, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 20:47, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Kailash29792 Oh man! I'm starting to regret asking for a copyedit. The article looks bland now. Or, is it just me? -- Sriram speak up 02:34, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
I do not see anything so bad in the article. I find it well written. Any further changes can only be suggested by the FA reviewer. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 04:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Of course. I wrote it! :) But the plot section seems devoid of an emotional connect. Like a newsreader reading news; no emotion in the voice, just in words. -- Sriram speak up 04:23, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
That may be so because Wiki seeks to maintain formality and neutrality, even though it is not a newspaper. But since u have already nominated the article for FA, I wish u all the best for success. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 08:24, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
For newspaper refs. add "access dates". Vensatry (Ping me) 09:03, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

@ Vensatry, Kailash29792 Guys! I need a clarification. If I were to add a small description for a few casting choices, would it be appropriate to add it in the 'Cast' section or in the 'casting and filming' third-level heading as there is a specific prose regarding the same? -- Sriram speak up 16:25, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

I think it would be appropriate to add it to the "casting and filming" section, because Mughal-e-Azam (currently a FA candidate) had to remove descriptions of casting from the "Cast" section. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 16:38, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry. Is it the character description or the casting choices? Coz, the guy who copyedited let the description stay when I explained him. -- Sriram speak up 16:42, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
@Kailash29792 For Mullum Malarum, I'll take a look and let you know. Btw, can you tell me how to add the exchange rate (INR to $) in 2002? Or, can you do me a favour and add a note for the same in Gemini? -- Sriram speak up 14:39, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
One thing I know is that using the INR Convert template will only display Indian currency with its value in US dollars at today's rate. Was the exchange rate different in 2002? In that case u can use this site to clarify ur doubts. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 14:51, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
It is best to go with what the majority of sources say about Vikram's place of birth. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 17:43, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
@Sriram, this is to tell u that User:ColonelHenry has begun reviewing the article for FA status. I wish u all the best for success. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 17:02, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Kailash29792 Oh! I didn't know that. I'm still doing a few tweaks here and there. Thanks for informing me. -- Sriram speak up 17:11, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Btw, if I were to add a section called 'Themes', should its contents be verifiable. As per MOS/Film, they don't allow original research in these sections. Just wondering coz I don't have any sources. -- Sriram speak up 17:13, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh man. Thanks for fixing the cover image license. That was quick. -- Sriram speak up 17:18, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm afraid almost no section other than the plot can be left unsourced. Any further comments on improving the article should be placed here ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 17:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
@Kailash29792 Do you mind being a nominator so that you can help me through the review process? -- Sriram speak up 17:24, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes I agree. Now let us end the discussion here to stop the section from expanding and continue it on the FA review page. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 17:27, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

What language to use

I have opened a consensus here. Please post ur thoughts. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 08:30, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Kailash29792 In Gemini, I have replaced the refs you had added for Attagasam and Aasal, coz I think the reviews of those films in unnecessary in this context. Hope you don't mind. -- Sriram speak up 02:51, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
If they provide more detailed info, then that is fine. However, in case the refs are not accepted, then re-add the Rediff and Hindu refs. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 02:55, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Re:Gemini FA review

Yes you can definitely upload it with a fair-use rationale but the question is whether it would be suitable for the article, I mean has impact on the article? Plus the WP:NFCC stresses on minimal use of Non-free files in an article. That is the article already has a non-free file, the DVD Cover. If the file is important, then only upload it. Use this rationale - Template:Non-free use rationale and this license - {{Non-free promotional|image has rationale=yes}}. If you need any other help contact me. Soham 07:35, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

I on the other hand from the start used this - Special:Upload, File Upload Wizard in my opinion is the worst obstacle for a new-comer. Soham 08:11, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
@Kailash29792 Dude! Can you upload that pic for me? Follow the link. The image is of 1023x682 resolution. If possible, reduce it to less than 50%. Else, just upload the image and I'll reduce it and replace it. -- Sriram speak up 08:28, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

The Red Pen of Doom

Because he follows Wiki's policies too strictly, I kind of hate him. In Gemini (2002 Tamil film), he has removed this link, claiming that it is a "violation of WP:ELNEVER copyright violation". Can you please find an alternative? Or you can cite the source without that URL. Just do you know the magazine in which the article comes? As for the audience response to Gemini, you can state that the film was well received by the audience with a RS only. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:29, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

@Kailash29792: Woah guys! I took a couple days off and you guys have been edit warring!!
1. Btw, Kailash. When we have been working on an article for a long time and someone come around finding mistakes and removing contents, it does hurt. But, I wouldn't blame TRPoD. This isn't just some stub or a start class article. Its a GA firmly marching towards a FA. So, there's nothing wrong in insisting the rules. Frankly, yeah, I was a little mad at him myself. But, wikipedia is a community. There needs to be consensus. So, chill.
2. I have been working on this article since last May. And I have elevated it from a stub to what it is today. While I don't mean to say I own the article, but don't I owe an explanation? I mean, I confronted TRPoD about his edits, asking him to explain them since I wasn't convinced by his judgement. But, he didn't reply. I do not mean to say that every time he removes contents added by others or reverts other's edits that he should explain his actions to them in person. But, when I demand, I think I deserve an answer. What am I supposed to do when he choses not to reply, yet keeps removing contents from the article?
3. Now coming to the content removal. May I know who gets to decide which sources are RS and which aren't? I believe Thiraipadam.com is a professional critic. The site isn't like other sites such as indiaglitz, sify or behindwoods which carries film news and even gossips related to the film industry. Thiraipadam.com only has reviews of films released until 2009. Year after year, they have reviews of film by two people— Balaji Balasubramaniam and Vijay Vanniarajan (apart from audience ratings of films and actors). Doesn't that make them a professional critic? Do you think I can appeal somewhere and convince them that they are pros?
4. I did manage to find the article for the tinypic image. While the full article is available here, the infographics that carried the film's gross collections is missing. But, as far as I know, it isn't mandatory that the sources should be available online, right? So, can I just cite the article without the url?
5. Btw, I came across a few edits by an IP which is clearly vandalism. Seems like an Ajith fan. What am I supposed to do about that? Can I ask for semi-protection? Should I report it somewhere and if I do so, will it be of any use considering that he's an IP user and that not everyone has a static IP. They couldn't block an IP address can they? And even if they do so, what if someone else has that IP right-now and could not access wiki? Or, should I just let it pass, hoping that he doesn't return?
Thanks -- Sriram speak up 06:34, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
It's all right, you can restore the sources which the Red Pen of Doom removed. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:40, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Gemini (2002 Tamil film)

Hi, I have posted some comments on the FAC page of Gemini. Comments by other users can also be expected soon. Do please respond to my comments. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:26, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
Hey dude! I'll be archiving rest of the references shortly. There is voltage fluctuations in my locality; hence archiving in steps. So, don't sweat. I'll take care of the archiving part. -- Sriram speak up 17:01, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi, congrats! All of Bollyjeff's comments at the FAC page have been addressed, and so have Blofeld's comments. User:Krimuk90 has only one comment left, and I think you can solve that. Meanwhile, four of my comments are yet to be addressed, and one of them includes reworking the "Remakes" section with additional sources. Here are two sources you can use: [3] and [4]. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:54, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Krimuk90 has added a number of comments which I think you can solve, but one of them mentions IndiaGlitz as a non-reliable source (actually, it's good enough for GA, not for FA). Do please find alternatives, or simply remove the statements using IndiaGlitz as a source. Same statement applies for Thiraipadam.com, which I too agree is not professional enough for Wiki. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:04, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
The following ref's used in Gemini have been declared unreliable for FAC's and must be removed to escape FAC failure:
Good luck finding alternative sources, if any! Kailash29792 (talk) 07:22, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Well, did you find any? Or can the sources simply be removed? I doubt if you ever read this. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:30, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Work in progress. -- Sriram speak up 15:34, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey bro! Although I wanna see the article as a FA, I find no reason that I have to give in to every single demand raised by the reviewers. As long as I'm convinced, I make the necessary changes. But when I am not, I just let it stay the way it is. If the reviewer isn't satisfied, he can very well oppose the promotion. I don't want to buckle under pressure and make edits I ain't convinced of. But some of your edits defeats the purpose. No offense intended. Sorry if I have and thanks. -- Sriram speak up 15:46, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Be bold, and do as you please. In fact, you don't have to apologise as I was not offended. But do remember that if an article has at least five or six support tags, it has a good chance of passing FA. There are already three supports from me, Bollyjeff, AB01, and Blofeld's comments have been addressed. As the comments of Krimuk (the writer of at least 3 FA's) can very well change the shape of the article for the best, getting a support from him is heavenly. Do not feel I am compelling you. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay. Btw, can I rename the "Casting" section as "Cast and crew" to include the crew info? I find it better. -- Sriram speak up 16:09, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Generally, including the technical crew in "casting" is not advised as they do not act in the film (except stuntmen, albeit invisibly). But if any other FA has a section named "Cast and Crew" that includes details on the same, you may follow them. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:25, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
I do realize that. That's why I proposed changing the heading. -- Sriram speak up 16:27, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
I failed to find any FA that includes a "Cast and Crew" section (but if any section included both cast and crew, it would be "Production", with a level two heading). So obeying the FAC comments, I have sent the technical crew back to Development, agreeing that they fit there. Meanwhile, I found a statement that reads, "The choreography was by Super Subbarayan (action) and Suchitra, Brinda and Ashok Raja (dance)", but the source does not support this. Kailash29792 (talk) 18:16, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Why do you always have to follow existing FAs? We can use them for reference but that doesn't mean every article should look identical to FAs to qualify as one. You never raised an issue about it in your comments in the review page. If Krimuk90 isn't satisfied with my change, he will let me know. You don't even give him enough time to check back. You find a few FAs that doesn't mention the production banner in the lede and you go around removing them from every GA and FA you come across. How about you oppose the FAC promotion of Gemini because you never came across a South Indian film as a FA? I am trying to maintain my cool, but you aren't helping. Why do you have to interfere in every GA and FA review? If someone begins reviewing a GAN and doesn't complete it in time, you go around poking at them and annoying them. That is exactly the reason why Dr. Blofeld abandoned the review after posting a few comments. You may be active in wikipedia all day. But you can't expect the same from others. Everyone here has a life away from wikipedia too. I'm really sorry to say this but your over-enthusiasm is becoming really annoying. I'm sure a few others out here feel the same way. Pls. for god's sake, slow down. And give other editors some breathing space. -- Sriram speak up 18:48, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
I completely agree with your facts, and promise not to pester anyone in the same manner. And if ever you are nominating Anniyan for FAC, do please remember to add me as "co-nominator". Kailash29792 (talk) 10:16, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Sure man. And that's a promise from me. Thanks for understanding. I'm waiting for the completion of the 'Box office' section. I was unable to process the statistics, therefore am leaving it to you. By the way, since the article could always benefit from a c/e, make a request at GOCE as soon as you are done. In case you are confident of completing them in a week or so, you can make the request now itself considering the backlog. And feel free to make any c/e if necessary. -- Sriram speak up 10:23, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Dude! How can someone praise a song or a term? I believe it was good the way I had paraphrased it. Try reconsidering it. -- Sriram speak up 17:25, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

The terms "lingo" and "crazy" do not sound encyclopedic, and it looked like you copy-pasted her quote without quotations. But now I've rewritten in a way that may satisfy us both. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:33, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
A double quotes within a double quote? See, that's exactly why I went for paraphrasing the quote at the first place. And, rephrasing a sentence doesn't constitute COPYVIO, Only when huge chunks of texts are copy-pasted exactly as in the source can it be a violation. May I know what was wrong with my paraphrasing? -- Sriram speak up 17:51, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Nothing wrong, except that it appears impossible to formally rephrase Malathi's quote. So I wanted this policy to work for her quote. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:07, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:Hey! Is idlebrain.com good enough a source for FAs? Can I include the link you provided for the release date of Gemeni? -- Sriram speak up 14:26, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

I first thought it was reliable, but turns out it's only good enough for GA (that too, only in dire circumstances). Even though the source has the release date of the film, you should not get too detailed about the Telugu Gemini, as the main focus is on the Tamil one. Just its month and release date are enough, and I have done that part. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:51, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
I'll be out for a few days, so good luck with the FAC. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:25, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Gemini FAC

Dr. Blofeld Hey! Have you cooled down? Think you can complete your review or will that be all? -- Sriram speak up 05:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

I suppose he has cooled down. And I don't think the ping template is any longer effective. Try the this one instead to notify users. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:36, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
Hey! Personally, if the cast image gets deleted, I'm okay. Doesn't necessary need to be replaced by commons image. Even then, Vikram is already seen in the video cover; why have another image at all? -- Sriram speak up 14:15, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
Well, it does not matter to me also whether there is any cast member image or not. But if the article appears on the main page, *some* image has to be there with it na? And non-free pictures (like posters, stills and DVD covers) are not allowed in that case. That is why I added the actor's images. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:22, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
We can add that image, if and when the article reaches TFA. What say? -- Sriram speak up 14:43, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
Hey! According to the 2nd point under 'Supporting and opposing' given here, you are supposed to mention in your support that you are a significant contributor to the article. So, pls. do so. -- Sriram speak up 13:13, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Done as asked. BTW, I defined Vinu Chakravarthy's character as a "megalomaniac", because the wiktionary definition reads "A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence". Is that fine? Kailash29792 (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
No, he isn't delusional. -- Sriram speak up 15:01, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:Hey! I remember reading somewhere that when a GOCE request is made for a potential FAC, the copy-edit should only be done by someone familiar with the criteria. I ain't sure if Bafflegab is and even if so, if he was aware that it was a potential candidate (though I had mentioned so while making the request). How do I get to know if he was? -- Sriram speak up 15:08, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Asking him, or the talk page of the GOCE should do. But forget Bafflegab, he ain't that great (and he has already edited the article). However, some GOCE member edited Trichy to the peak on request, and so did someone during Pather Panchali. I've currently requested Miniapolis to edit Gemini, and let us await the future. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:48, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
I think he did a pretty good job. Remember, I wasn't satisfied when the article was first c/e'd by Chaosdruid? But Baffle restored my faith in GOCE! -- Sriram speak up 15:55, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Gemini FA

The film doesn't stand anywhere near "landmark films" in Tamil cinema. I still remember watching the trailer of the film in Sun TV (I was in grade 8) and enjoyed it though. Don't stop here, please try to improve articles like Sethu, Pithamagan and Anniyan. They are much more deserving than this one! Vensatry (ping) 16:45, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Anniyan is our next, and Sriram has promised to make me a co-nominator of its FAC. Mani Ratnam's Raavanan (also starring Vikram), though it ain't so close to these "landmark films" in Tamil cinema, also appears to have great potential. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:57, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I started work on Raavanan a long time ago, but was stumped by the mind-boggling amount of data that needs processing. So, have kept it on hold until I gain enough experience and language skills. -- Sriram speak up 16:59, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Around the time I was working on the article, I happened to discuss the 'Timeline' approach that was introduced by Facebook. That thing kept playing in my mind and played some tricks too! I ended up arranging facts chronologically in the 'Production' section and realised much to my disappointment that I had messed it up completely. -- Sriram speak up 17:02, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
There was an article in 'The Telegraph (Calcutta)' that vividly explained the shoot as it took place in Calcutta. And, my admiration for Vikram turned into a COI, impeding my ability to omit unnecessary trivia. And, that's when I decided to give it a break and continue later, when I'm more neutral. -- Sriram speak up 17:05, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
@Vensatry: While I do admit that Gemini isn't a landmark film, a FA doesn't necessarily need to be path-breaking or a timeless-classic. I believe that it is a prejudice and I even expected that the FAC would attract very few reviewers. If not for Kailash, it would been true. If a film attracted wide attention from the media and has a lot to write about, that should suffice. Btw, Gemini holds a special significance for me. Back then, I have seen some of Vikram's lesser known films on TV. But, after the success of Sethu, I haven't seen any of his subsequent films including Sethu. Gemini was the first Vikram film I saw post=Sethu. And, I have been his fan since then. -- Sriram speak up 17:12, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Btw, haven't you checked out Anniyan yet? I thought you would have, as I have improved the article by a good extent, I guess. Still, work needs to be done in 'Critical response' and 'Box office' sections. In the former, I have tried two different ways of presenting the reviews. Pls. check the history. And, I'm not so good at processing statistical data (guess I'm dyslexic like Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi!!); So, I have left it to Kailash29792. You can join too if interested. Your massive experience is always welcome. -- Sriram speak up 17:18, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
"a FA doesn't necessarily need to be path-breaking or a timeless-classic". Did I ever say that? I was trying to say that we need to help promote high-quality Tamil films to FAs. Gemini was a runaway hit mainly because of "O podu", else it would've ended up as an ordinary commercial film. I guess you are a hard-core admirer of commercial cinema :). Have you seen Meera, which released much before Vikram came into limelight? Except for the last 15-20 minutes (I really loved the way in which the fight was choreographed between Sarathkumar and Vikram in the climax) and "Oh Butterfly" song we cannot watch the film. BTW, how can you miss Dhill. It was this film that gave "Chiyan" a much needed breakthrough and an action hero mould. I must have watched it for at least 10-15 times. Kailash29792, as for Raavanan, do you even call that a film. Mani doesn't matter much these days. Vensatry (ping) 17:40, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
No, you did not explicitly say so. But, your comment that there are more deserving films that needed improvement seemed to indirectly suggest so. Ignore it if you did not mean it that way. -- Sriram speak up 17:45, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Btw, I was talking about the past. I have seen it umpteen times now. -- Sriram speak up 17:47, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

@Vensatry: Regarding your article Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu: I have also been contemplating creating articles for hit singles on the lines of Kolaveri, in competition for such articles from bollywood. What say? O Podu, Nakka Mukka, Appadi Podu etc. have scope. See this -- Sriram speak up 18:07, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

You can create them, provided they meet WP:NSONG. Vensatry (ping) 18:10, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
WP:CRYSTAL states, "Wikipedia is not a collection of product announcements and rumors" and "Speculation and rumor, even from reliable sources, are not appropriate encyclopedic content." Kailash29792 (talk) 16:30, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
That pertain only to products. And I'm not creating a separate article based on rumours. I'm just including a line in a related article. "Predictions, speculation, forecasts and theories stated by reliable, expert sources or recognized entities in a field may be included..." -- Sriram speak up 16:48, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Gemini (2002 Tamil film)

I am curious; what is the reason behind so many changes to an FA article? ~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bollyjeff (talkcontribs) 14:47, 18 October 2014‎

User:Krimuk90 pointed out while reviewing the FAC that the quality of the prose isn't good enough for an FA. I too felt the same and therefore, am trying to better it to make it worthy of the FA status. -- Sriram speak up 14:52, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
There are two ways to improve this: one, rewrite all idiomatic/figurative sentences more literally. two, relist it at the GOCE, asking a different editor to edit the article. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:58, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Yeah! Thought of the second option but was afraid if the people at GOCE would find it ridiculous to request a c/e for an FA! And, Kailash! You had said earlier that no one seems to be intent on helping and that you would take a look on what you can do. But, its been quite a while since then and you seemed busy with pursuing your own interests. So, I decided to do it myself. And, hope I am doing good if the lead is anything to go by. -- Sriram speak up 15:02, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
And of course, I did edit parts of the article myself, though it was hard to see which parts needed serious copyediting. I also said that apart from the GOCE, there was no-one else I knew who looked so interested to edit it. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:15, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes dude! You definitely did. I can never deny that. I wasn't blaming you. I gotta say, the prose of Chandralekha looks far better than this that I'm left wondering whether Gemini really deserves FA status. -- Sriram speak up 15:19, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
There are two people I know two editor who can edit to a point that the article significantly changes - User:Miniapolis was the first GOCE member to edit Chandralekha, and his editing was heavenly. User:Lstanley1979 also completely changed Velaiyilla Pattathari. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:26, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the shout-out. I'll have a look at this article later and help improve it. I am a relatively new copy-editor, but can have a go particularly with improving any linguistic issues. I'll put it on my 'to do' list and have a go when I can sit down with it for a while. LS1979 (talk) 15:38, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
@Lstanley1979:Thanks for offering help miss! Btw, can you leave me a message as and when you begin the copyediting? -- Sriram speak up 16:21, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Of course. Thanks for the ping. I should be able to do it during this coming week. LS1979 (talk) 17:20, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Sriram! I've begun work on your article. The quality of the prose is very good, but I deleted a large chunk from the lead which essentially repeats information that should really be in the later sections. Also, I need someone to look at where the plot text originally said that the hero's girlfriend 'resents' him. IMO that's a bit of a strange a word to use in that context in English, but I've not seen the film and therefore she may 'leave' him or she may 'grow distant'. LS1979 (talk) 19:35, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

The lead seems too short now. It must summarize the entire article. BollyJeff | talk 19:50, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Well miss! The article is a FA and the lead is supposed to give a brief summary of the article. Refer American Beauty (1999 film). If I remember right, GOCE members who proofread FAs or potential FAs are supposed to be familiar with the criteria. And, I settle for 'grow distant'; sounds more appropriate. I'm gonna let you have your way but once you are done, I might need to revert a few changes, mostly minor. Hope you won't mind that. For instance, Teja is a dreaded don while Gemini is a rookie crossing swords with Teja. Why would Teja "beg" Gemini?
@Bollyjeff: Hey! I agree with you. But, in her own words, the proofreader is a "relatively new copy-editor". And, she is offering help beyond the GOCE. Lets not be too critical of her work. She is doing good except seems unfamiliar with a few things. Let her complete the copyedit and we can make the necessary changes per FAC criteria later.
@Thamizhan1994:Hey buddy! The article is currently being copyedited by a member of the GOCE and a template in the article's talk requests others to wait for its completion. Pls. bear with it. -- Sriram speak up 02:38, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
@Sriram Vikram:, @Bollyjeff:: some of the nuance of the plot is hard to get right but there are some awkward phrasings as far as my ear for English goes. For instance, there's a number of words I simply wouldn't use ('goon'). 'Astute' is more of a quality than a type of police officer; if you're contrasting it with a corrupt officer, then it's not really a word I would use. 'Begs' might not be the right word, but 'pestered' is also not quite right in that context (it still sounds as if the power balance is on Gemini's side rather than Teja's). 'Leans on' or 'forces' sounds better to me, putting the power back on Teja's side and therefore making sure we know he's forcing Gemini to co-operate with him rather than Gemini being the one in control of the relationship.
Regarding the lead, looking at WP:FILMLEAD, I see what you're saying, but can we make the discussion of the source material of the film slightly more concise? e.g. 'Saran was inspired by real-life Chennai gangsters... and he made two attempts to make the film...' At the moment, I think it's a little too detailed for a general summary of the article, which is why I cut quite a bit - but you're absolutely right; I should have been aware of the MOS and I have previously only worked on shorter articles where the lead simply contains actors, producers and score composers.
Let me have another go in userspace. I will be away for four days at the weekend (25-28 October) without internet access. LS1979 (talk) 06:55, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
I am not a native speaker of English and I have to accept that my vocabulary and language skills are rather limited. Therefore, if there is any confusion or ambiguity in the prose, pls. feel free to ask me for clarification. You work on the article in your userspace and after you have completed, we can discuss if I have any issues. -- Sriram speak up 07:05, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:"Go on floors": Picked it up from newspaper tabloids. Guess it an idiom or something.
Btw, in the second para of the lead, does this sound better? "But for two song sequences filmed in Switz, the film was shot at AVM Studios, Chennai". What say? -- Sriram speak up 13:31, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

I think you can add the term "exception" in the sentence. And I find the term "on floors" being used only in the context of Indian cinema; I guess people have gone too far by trying to invent new terms in English (which have rarely been formally accepted in correct English). Kailash29792 (talk) 13:39, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
1. I think "but for" is self sufficient. 2. Guess so! -- 13:42, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Hey! Do you think the article is getting better or it is still more or less the same? -- Sriram speak up 13:53, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Looks good to me. But can you rewrite "The production changed hands to"? In fact, who were the first producers before AVM? And what is the meaning of "the inside man"? Kailash29792 (talk) 14:29, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Rewrote. Lakshmi productions were the first producers. -- Sriram speak up 14:45, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Arbitrary break - comments from proofreader

This is a great article - well-written and well-sourced. LS1979 (talk) 19:38, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. Btw, isn't it supposed to be so to become a FA? -- Sriram speak up 02:40, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes - apart from unfortunately blanking the lead - for which I do apologise - the article just needs tidying up. I'll respond to BollyJeff above, but it's already in good shape and (as far as I've got) just needed a few tweaks to some of the language. LS1979 (talk) 06:35, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
Sure. Carry on then. Btw, another editor Thamizhan1994, unaware of the ongoing copyedit, began making a few edits himself. Thats why I suggested using the 'inuse' template as the 'GOCEinuse' is only visible in the talkpage which few people visit. -- Sriram speak up 06:43, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
I'll put up the sign then. LS1979 (talk) 08:50, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
@Lstanley1979:Hi! Can you update me on the status of the copy-edit? -- Sriram speak up 15:25, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
@Sriram Vikram: - hi. I have got a bit of it done offline, but there hasn't been much opportunity in among everything else to work harder on it, and I've been focusing on shorter copy-editing projects. I do still want to do it, but it might be best to allow other people to work on it as well. LS1979 (talk) 23:01, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
@Lstanley1979: Oh! That's too sad. I was counting on you. Why don't you split the copy-edit and do it in steps, say 2-3 paras a day. If you are still interested, consider it. Thanks for trying though. -- Sriram speak up 13:53, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Kudos Sriram! This is a great recognition. Arunram (talk)

Congratulations Sriram! --AmritasyaPutraT 05:43, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I appreciate all of you praising his editorial work, but there is another milestone by him that you forgot to acknowledge him for: making Gemini the first FA on a Tamil film. And Jethro, the man with "those shades" on that DVD cover is hero Vikram. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:08, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Just saw this. Congrats, bro Ssven2 (talk)
Thanks to everyone. I'm humbled and motivated. -- Sriram speak up 06:23, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792:: Thanks for the correction (I've struck out my mistake above), and for pointing out that this was the first FA for a Tamil film. How exciting! I, JethroBT drop me a line 02:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Chandralekha

Chandralekha

The name of the film Chandralekha does not have a space. The text in the poster is partially blocked by a horse, which is why u may have been misled. Additionally, there is a dispute in the spelling. Although the film's censor certificate shows the spelling of Chandraleka (ie without the "H"), other reliable sources spell it with the H, including the Hindi version. But if u want to improve the article, pls do so. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:14, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Good news

Chandralekha (1948 film) has passed its GA review. I hope I am rewarded for having brought it from slumps to GA status in less than a year. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 03:56, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Chandralekha

Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost! I'm still studying that article and finding out what else I can add from it. And to better the chances of Chandralekha's FA success, I feel the Hindi version must have a separate article. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:05, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I don't think it's necessary, if you're only concerned with the Tamil version. Vensatry (Ping) 01:34, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Actually, the article makes incomplete mentions related to the Hindi version (like its release date is not mentioned, which is hard to find online), while information related to the Tamil version seems complete. That can deter the chances of FA success, hence I want a separate article for the Hindi version. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:47, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Not necessary at all – if it was filmed separately in Hindi. Vensatry (Ping) 07:30, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

I have (finally!) opened the FAC for 1948's Chandralekha. Please feel free to post your comments on the FAC page. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:50, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Mullum Malarum

Mullum Malarum

I am planning to take the article to GA status. Pls have a look at it; any suggestions for improvement? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 06:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

@Kailash29792 While the article looks good, could you submit it for a c/e? The article needs rewording to prevent copyvio. A majority of the text has been exactly copied from the sources. Btw in the lead section, 'winch operator' is repeated in the 2nd para which isn't necessary.
And regarding your edit to Gemini, I'm am reverting it as they have worked in Attagasam even before Aasal was made. If you can find a source for it, pls go ahead and re-add the info for Attagasam. -- Sriram speak up 14:56, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Thank u for the suggestions. And this source states that although Saran and Ajith parted ways, Shalini brought them together again. It also states that "The name 'Yerumugam' has been changed to 'Attagaasam'". ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 15:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
@Kailash29792Okay. But that source isn't reliable. this source, a reliable one, an interview given by Saran, explicitly states in his own words, " Is it true that Gemini was originally written for Ajit? Ans: Yes. Erumugham, my film for Lakshmi Productions with Ajit that has been scrapped, had a similar theme. But since Ajit did not like the subject and found "Red" more interesting at that time, we decided to drop the project after a week's shoot."
So, I prefer to go with this. In the source that you provided, they could have just correlated the dropped film and the new film. -- Sriram speak up 15:41, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
If u can read Tamil, I hope u can translate Vikatan's review of Mullum Malarum's music, which is on this page. Bcos I need the translated content from it to add. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 14:30, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Here is a literal translation: "Though there are only four tracks, Ilaiyaraja have composed them with strands of sweetness. The 'Mela Mela' chorus in the beginning and middle of the song 'Raman Aandalum' hugs and kisses the ears. In the climax sequence, he has created the required mood using only a rhythm. He deserves a special praise for that." -- Sriram speak up 14:58, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
I have added info from that Hiphop Tamizha source. BTW, do u find any useful content to add to Mullum Malarum from this source? If yes, pls add the required info. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 04:49, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi, hows the development of CIFF article going on? I finally managed to get that Tamil blog by Balu Mahendra translated. Meanwhile, I found a review of Mullum Malarum by Thina Thanthi. Hope u can add info from it to the reviews section of Mullum, or translate only the most useful info to me. Do understand that though I know Tamil well, reading it is hard. -- Kailash29792 (talk) 07:43, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Mullum info

Bcos I am the user who nominated Mullum Malarum for GA instead of Vensatry (I still owe him for his small but powerful edits), u must only provide me with useful info to help improve the article, and only on my talkpage or the article's. BTW, Vensatry has made the biggest achievement of his Wiki career - taken Trichy to FA status. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:08, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Whenever I wanna notify both of you about something, I post in either of your talkpages. Don't take it personally. And its not a must that only you be informed regarding the article. As I has said there, the contents were more general than exclusive of Mullum Malarum. Thats the reason I chose not to post it in the article's talkpage. -- Sriram speak up 17:14, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok cool down. Thanks very much for the translation, and I seem to have already added most of the content from that source to the article. I just felt that bcos Vensatry seems uninterested in further improving Mullum, giving him the info would look like a burden to him. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:33, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
I was busy with Trichy all these days. I have a special interest towards the film and will be glad to help you out! Vensatry (Ping me) 17:39, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Is it possible to read the full article if I login through Facebook? BTW, I hope that review by Vikatan is a contemporary review, rather than a modern review. Bcos the date reads "20 Aug, 2008". Thus I am not sure if it is a modern review, or the old one reprinted. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:43, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Also, I think u meant to say that Maalai Malar's review of Mullum Malarum was wrongly stated as Thina Thanthi's review on the Rajinifans page. Therefore, I am deciding to rewrite "Thanthi"'s review as Maalai Malar's and hence change the source. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:24, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Kailash29792 In my opinion, who said isn't really important. What they said is. So, go on. -- Sriram speak up 17:31, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Matter settled Sriram. Rewritten as Maalai Malar's review. As for the Ananda Vikatan questions I have asked in this section, do u have answers to them? Kailash29792 (talk) 17:37, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Haven't you tried signing in with fb? I thought you would have. Btw, if the date seems recent, add it in modern reviews. If the need arises, they can be moved around later. -- Sriram speak up 17:42, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Yes I read the article "Flashbacks of a director" in the Hindu and added info from it to Mullum Malarum. Only I cannot find "Cinemavum Naanum", the book by J. Mahendran. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:24, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
If u find the Shankar source very useful, content from it can be added to the legacy section. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:59, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Who is Dhananjayan

G. Dhananjayan is the current "Chief of the South Film Business of UTV Motion Pictures". I did not mention that in Mullum Malarum as the supporting sources do not mention it, and because he has an article on Wiki. As a result, I have defined him as the author of The Best of Tamil Cinema (the "most comprehensive book on Tamil cinema till date"). Kailash29792 (talk) 13:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Can we say 'G. Dhananjayan of UTV Motion Pictures said in his book...' in the same vein as you have said, 'playback singer Suchitra' a couple of paras before? You and me can know him, but can't expect everyone to. -- Sriram speak up 13:50, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
And how about this: "The film, which marked Mahendran's directorial debut, was adapted from ..." ? -- Sriram speak up 13:57, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

At last!

Good news: Mullum Malarum has finally passed its GA review. And it is my fifth consecutive GA success. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:15, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Kadhalikka Neram Illai

Kadhalikka Neramillai

Hi, this and this have some useful info that you can add to Kadhalikka Neramillai. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:27, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. But the facts provided are inconsistent with those in the article.
1. While Gopu had said that there were no exhibitors initially, the book says the distributors were impressed and eagerly bought the rights.
2. And The Hindu says the film was shot in Aaliyar Dam bungalow whereas the book claims Ooty.
I'm starting to doubt the credibility of this book. -- Sriram speak up 06:14, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Well, why not try mailing the author at dhananjayang@gmail.com? He responds quickly. U can question the credibility of certain contents. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:38, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Should I contact him about the credibility of his book? I suppose not coz he could get offended. -- Sriram speak up 06:45, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Do not ask him about the credibility and authenticity of the whole book. You can just ask him whether the content he added abt the film is well researched and he is sure that it is correct, by showing him your sources. If u r still confused, u may contact Film News Anandan (anandanfilmnews@gmail.com). Kailash29792 (talk) 07:27, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay. will do. -- Sriram speak up 07:36, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Excellent work on the article. A massive expansion! Would you be willing to take this to DYK now or once it passes GAN? Vensatry (Ping) 17:39, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks man. If the expansion is good enough to qualify for DYK, we can nominate now else can wait for GA. -- Sriram speak up 18:13, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:Hey! Check this. The location is Aaliyar Dam. -- Sriram speak up 23:33, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

We cannot nominate it now, as the prose was more than 6k chars prior to your expansion. So let's wait until GAN. Vensatry (Ping) 03:49, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay. Thought so. -- Sriram speak up 04:06, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Sriram, I have listed KNI at the GOCE. As for contacting those two film historians, how'd it go? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:50, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
I was thinking, tagging an article with 'copy-edit' was the same as requesting at GOCE. Is it not so? And, I have mailed to Dhananjayan. Will let you know if and when he replies. -- Sriram speak up 05:58, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Removed the tag. You can expect a copy-edit in six weeks time. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:11, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
That long huh? Maybe I should learn copy editing. -- Sriram speak up 06:17, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi, User:Baffle gab1978 is currently editing KNI. Hope it has gone well so far. But I have one question: In the lead you wrote "contemporary", which has now been replaced with "contemporaneous" by him. What did you want to mean by "contemporary"? There are three definitions of it on Wiktionary:
  • "From the same time period, coexistent in time."
  • "Modern, of the present age."
  • "Relatively recent" - which did you mean? Kailash29792 (talk) 16:20, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: I meant the present age film personalities. The film came 50 years ago. People like Crazy Mohan and YGM weren't in films then!! -- Sriram speak up 17:31, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

KNI

@Kailash29792:Hey! Mr. Dhananjayan just replied a couple hours back. He claims that the film was also shot at Aaliyar Dam but mostly filmed at Ooty. And that the songs were a big hit even before the film released and hence did attract distributors. Lets say he is right, but does it qualify as RS? -- Sriram speak up 13:09, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Yes. And I hope u did ask him whether he verified the data u asked him abt. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:54, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
He said the info in 'The Hindu' report was of the authors'. And that the book was thoroughly researched. But I still doubt how it can be an RS. -- Sriram speak up 14:57, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

I see that the article is at GAN. Good luck with the nom! Vensatry (Ping) 06:59, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I would appreciate if you can take a look and make any changes necessary to make it GA worthy. -- Sriram speak up 07:03, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Looks good to me as I said earlier. If needed, I'll make some edits after the review begins! Vensatry (Ping) 07:37, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Kailash has made a few comments in the Talk page. I have made changes about those I were convinced about. -- Sriram speak up 07:38, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
I am a bit confused about the casting of Sachu. While your statement read that she accepted the film with "one of the reasons being the first Tamil film to be made in colour", the source reads: "But the way director Sridhar narrated the story featuring three couples, I accepted it. Moreover, it was a colour film." So I have edited it to: she accepted the film due to the way Sridhar "narrated the story featuring three couples". Is it fair? Kailash29792 (talk) 17:06, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah! I already thanked that edit. -- Sriram speak up 17:08, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

@Vensatry:@Kailash29792: Hey guys! Check this out. -- Sriram speak up 14:27, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will be occupied this weekend. Nonetheless, if the event is covered by the media (Indian media rarely covers every single detail of film-related events), we can add it here. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:32, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Oh...okay. Btw, since the event is sponsored by The Hindu, we can expect a decent article regarding the proceeding of the event. -- Sriram speak up 14:36, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
This article seems to cover the entire event. Good luck using it as a source. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:25, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Two suggestions

During one of your recent conversations with Vensatry, I remember you asked about uploading an alternate image of Aaliyar Dam. Whatever happened of that plan? Also, I stumbled upon this article which you could translate portions of to me. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:43, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

I had found an image which showed the bungalow itself where the film was shot (Aaliyar Dam Guest House). I thought it would be better to have that image instead of the existing one which doesn't help in improving the understanding of the reader as it just shows the dam as seen from the bungalow's balcony. But, while the existing image was snapped and uploaded by an user [Pandbar] and therefore is in commons, the image I had found could be copyrighted. That is the reason I wanna know if I could replace it. But, since I felt that the contribs by Vensatry have dropped in the past couple weeks or so when compared to his normal edit frequency, I thought he might be busy with something else. So I decided not to trouble him and removed my message in his talk page. And, as I expected, he doesn't seemed to have noticed it.
As for the translation, I'll do it in a day or two. -- Sriram speak up 11:57, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Sriram, I did make a notice of the image just now. Apologies for not checking my talk history. The image's copyright status is unknown. If you're sure that it originally belongs to the site, you can try requesting them to release the image under a free license. BTW, KNI is scheduled for a Sunday telecast in Sun TV next week. Don't miss it :) Vensatry (Ping) 15:31, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
There is no need to apologize. I removed it on purpose and if someone should be blamed, it should be me. Btw, thanks for the schedule. -- Sriram speak up 16:16, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Chitralaya Gopu image

Hi, I saw the image of Gopu. You can upload it to Wikimedia Commons after seeking permission from N. Sridharan (the photographer). If you are still confused, read the instructions there. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Well, did you find him yet? I know of Mohan Raman, who I think also works for The Hindu. By contacting him at mohanraman@gmail.com, I think you can trace the photographer. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:20, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Oh! Okay. I was thinking of asking you how. Thanks. Btw, is there a problem with the existing license that it cannot be used? -- Sriram speak up 13:27, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
If he is deceased, then the licence can be altered, to look like the licence of this image. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:49, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah. Actually I copy-pasted the license from File:AVMeiyappa.jpg. I wanna know if the same license doesn't apply for living persons. -- Sriram speak up 13:52, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately, for photographs of living people, they should contain the author's permission and should be in Commons instead of Wikipedia. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:31, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks for enlightening me! -- Sriram speak up 14:33, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Award

The Exceptional Newcomer Award
For your enthusiasm to learn and your recent successful GAN of Gemini. There are very few users from South India, and unfortunately many of them don't really get noticed unlike editors who work exclusively on Bollywood related stuff, just like the Indian film industry. Hopefully everything will change in the coming years. Keep up the good work! Vensatry (Ping me) 09:01, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Vensatry, I do believe that if a Wikipedia office is established in Tamil Nadu, it will help increase editors. @Sriram, congratulations. I believe u have achieved what almost no South Indian editor could ever achieve in such a short time: a successful GA nomination. Keep it up, and do contribute to more GAN's. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 09:48, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

User:I JethroBT submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Sriram Vikram as Editor of the Week for his strong content contributions to articles related to Tamil cinema. In particular, I want recognize his effort in pushing Gemini (2002 Tamil film) from an article with mostly plot to a currently Featured Article. I conducted the the GA review for Gemini upon Sriram's request at the Teahouse last year. Sriram's improvements to the article were impressive the whole way through our lengthy discussions, and I learned a lot from him about Indian-English conventions and vocabulary that I was completely unaware of before. Sriram has also earned DYKs for creating 11th Chennai International Film Festival and for Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum. Sriram has been active on Wikipedia since May 2013, and he continues to be a fantastic content contributor. Kudos to Sriram, and now I must go see Gemini if only to see how cool Kalabhavan Mani Vikram is in those shades.
