Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to HCL Technologies may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 18 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 09:53, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Sarahj2107. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to HCL Technologies because it appeared to be promotional. Srishti Dugar, you asked about your changes to HCL Technologies at User talk:A930913, the talk page of BracketBot's operator. Those changes were reverted for a couple of issues. Firstly, they were unduly promotional. For example, "the fifth largest IT company in India", backed up by a Forbes report, is a fact, while "a leading global IT services company", without any source, is purely opinion. What exactly does "leading" mean in this context? How was it determined that HCL leads the IT services industry? Who said so? Also, the draft was chock-full of marketing buzzwords. Take this line, for example: "HCL leverages an extensive global offshore infrastructure and network of offices in 31 countries [...]" - to me that sounds like an excessively wordy way of saying "HLC has offices in 31 countries". And what is "an integrated approach for enabling transformation"? You should also be very careful about using adjectives such as "unique", "extraordinary", or "innovative". Such claims require reliable third-party sources to back them up, and even then they make the text sound more like a press release than an encyclopedia article.
And while I'm speaking of sources: You removed all the article's third-party references. That simply is not acceptable. Those kinds of sources are what Wikipedia content should be based on; we cannot just take HCL's own word for how great they are. While you were at it, you also removed several kinds of wiki formatting (such as links to other Wikipedia articles and categories), the navigation templates (such as the Major information technology companies navbox) and the maintenance messages at the top (despite not having resolved the problems).
For all of those reasons your changes were considered not helpful and were reverted. Since you said you are associated with HCL Technolgies you may want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest: It's hard to maintain a neutral point of view when you're associated with the topic you write about. Instead of editing the article itself it may be better to propose changes at the article's talk page and let less involved editors review them. Huon (talk) 15:07, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
