Skyscreamer

You could use WindSeeker as a guide. When were the rides announced? Where there any problems that the rides had? What's the deign of the ride? Reception (if available)? Features? I can't really help any further or else I would be doing all the work which I can't. The WindSeeker article should help a lot as it is similar to the SkyScreamer.--Dom497 (talk) 15:47, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

There was no incidents like what the windseeker had at Knotts Berry Farm.

--Starship9000 (talk) 21:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

So? Just leave that section out. There is still the history, design, reception, etc sections that are still all similar. Also, just a suggestion, archive messages once the conversation has ended.--Dom497 (talk) 01:52, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I mentioned in the article "The Texas SkyScreamer will be the tallest SkyScreamer in the world as well as the tallest swing ride when it opens". How's that? --Starship9000 (talk) 14:16, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Yup, that's good!--Dom497 (talk) 14:33, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Should I nominate it to good status that way I can place a userbox that looks like this:

Should I nominate it to good status? How do you nominate that article to good status. --Starship9000 (talk) 14:36, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Before you do that, add refs to the "Installations" section. Also, a "Reception" section wouldn't hurt. I will scan the article after that to see if it is worth nominating.--Dom497 (talk) 14:43, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I will add references on the installations section before nomanating it to good status. --Starship9000 (talk) 14:45, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
In response to your question you posted on my talk page, yes. Anything in the article that does not have a references needs one or else the article will likely fail the GA review. To help you out, a good thing to do is type in what you are looking for on google. If you don't find anything on the first couple of pages, click on the "more" tab (NOT the top black one, the one under the search bar) and then click "news". Again, if you don't find anything, click on "search tools", then "anytime", then "archives".--Dom497 (talk) 15:31, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I putted a reference in the installations section of SkyScreamer which has a reference about the Texas SkyScreamer. It looks like this:
[1]

Do you think it is in good status. If yes, I will nominate it. How's that?--Starship9000 (talk) 16:15, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

I forgot I added a reference about Six Flags Over Georgia's SkyScreamer! --Starship9000 (talk) 16:29, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
When I said to add refs to the installations section, I meant to create a new column and include one ref in each row that supports the info in the table. After that, you could nominate it if you want though the reviewer would probably point out some things that would need to be fixed (there is always room for improvement!). Also, I know I keep mentioning it but you should try to find reviews of the ride to add a reception section (if possible). Finally, just a quick question, do you know how to nominate the article?--Dom497 (talk) 17:26, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
You mean each of the SkyScreamer installations table in the installation section? --Starship9000 (talk) 18:13, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes.--Dom497 (talk) 19:00, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I putted references for each SkyScreamer including Vol Ultime in the reference column of the SkyScreamer table. If the table is good, then I will nominate it for Good Status if it is ready for good status. How's that?--Starship9000 (talk) 19:24, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
The new refs you put in the table will fail the review. Take a look at the other refs in the article and add things such as publisher=, accessdate=, date=, title=, url=, etc.--Dom497 (talk) 21:33, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Do not edit with both your account and an IP

S9000, you've been told this a number of times before: Do not edit with both this account and the IP User:74.131.177.233. It's been quite obvious from the beginning that that IP is you, so you're fooling no one who looks into it, but using both creates the impression to casual editors that two different people are editing. That's deceptive and it's not allowed.

And to answer the question you asked on Luigi2453's talk page, if your IP account is blocked, that block is for the editor (you), not just that particular IP, so you will not be allowed to edit with this account either. Nor can you create another account. You simply will not be allowed to edit at all uintil the block is lifted.

Look, you've asked a lot of people for help, and many of them have extended themselves to assist you. Everyone who does so wants to believe that you are a good faith editor. So, please, stop messing around, always edit with this account, and stop using the IP to make vandalistic edits. If you want to be an editor here, you must behave and follow the rules. If you can't do that, you are of no value to the project. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:31, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

I will never use it anymore. --Starship9000 (talk) 04:13, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
That would be great. Beyond My Ken (talk) 05:18, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Should I abandon it? --Starship9000 (talk) 14:18, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes, do not use it anymore, especially since it appears you have used it to mark articles for speedy deletion, something you have been told you do not have sufficient knowledge of Wikipedia's policies to do. You have been told that you need to concentrate on editing articles to the exclusion of the other activities that have gotten you into trouble before, but it appears you are using the IP to do those things instead. I'm afraid that if you continue to attempt to be deceptive in this way, you are going to be blocked again, and each block you receive will be for a longer and longer period of time. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:29, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
I mean should I put the retiring or the abandoned template on there since I will not use it? --Starship9000 (talk) 16:25, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
No, just don't use it. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:30, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
You should not use it for any purpose, including posting an abandoned/retired template. IP addresses change over time, and someone else might end up with 74.131.177.233 at some point in the future, and it would be confusing for an active editor to appear retired. Andrew327 20:30, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Your Tornado draft

It does still need more. There's still way to little to show that that roller coaster is notable. You need more secondary sources than just a roller coaster database. LadyofShalott 02:57, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

What is the little way to show that it is notable? --Starship9000 (talk) 14:44, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Find newspaper articles discussing the attraction. Admittedly, for this particular one, many of them will be in Spanish. --McDoobAU93 17:00, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Any websites I can find newspapers about roller coasters? If I do, then do I add it into my draft article? If I do, then would it be ready for the mainspace?--Starship9000 (talk) 18:04, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

A Google/Bing search using the ride's name and its park's name should turn up a few things, I would think. --McDoobAU93 18:12, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Wait a minute! Google News is the news and it is part of the google menu so should I go to Google News? Do I then add it to the article? --Starship9000 (talk) 18:16, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
If you find something useful using GNews, then, yes, add it to the article. Otherwise, other members of the roller coaster project probably have good ideas about where to find references that discuss roller coasters. --LadyofShalott 02:31, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Your recent comments

I've been following your edits on Wikipedia for a bit now. I admire your eagerness to create new articles and to expand old ones, but I have to admit I'm a bit puzzled about what your motivations appear to be, such as asking about when you can add a userbox after a certain activity is completed.

Yes, Wikipedia editors reward each other for jobs well done. Yes, userboxes give other editors an idea of who you are and what you've done. That said, those are bonuses ... things that go with the main purpose of most everyone here, and that is to build an online, free encyclopedia to share knowledge with others around the world. So, to myself and to many other editors, the goal is the encyclopedia, and the awards are icing on the cake. You appear to be after the awards, with the encyclopedia's improvement being a byproduct. Frankly, that worries me a bit.

I'm going to ask a very bold question, and I would appreciate an honest answer. Why exactly are you here? Are you here to contribute to an online encyclopedia, or are you here to create an online presence for yourself, like a Facebook page?

--McDoobAU93 17:12, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

I am here to edit amusement parks, roller coasters, bridges and buildings and structure articles here to contribute on this encyclopedia and edit these type. I am here to create articles in the sandbox and the draft articles. For the SkyScreamer article, should I add a trivia content or is there anything else I should add to it? --Starship9000 (talk) 17:17, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Then why are you so concerned about userboxes, and whether a given event generates one, such as this comment here? If your goal is as you say it is, the user box wouldn't matter. As to trivial content, please read WP:TRIVIA. --McDoobAU93 17:22, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
File:FlatAwardRibbons wb.jpg
I really need to help promote the SkyScreamer article to B-class status. --Starship9000 (talk) 17:24, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
That doesn't explain the comment, though. What does it matter if there's a userbox involved in something? Will you only do something if there's a reward for it? --McDoobAU93 17:47, 2 February 2013 (UTC).
Hi McDoobAU93, I think you have made some very valid points here but at the end of the day it's easier to just accept that people edit for lots of different reasons, and younger people perhaps show parts of their motivations more easily than older people do. Younger people are taught to measure progress by badges and stars and similar things, so it's no big deal if they quite naturally ask "when does the badge happen?" Older people generally don't see everything in quite such clear demarcations, but... let's remember it doesn't really matter so long as we're all working towards the same end, which Starship9000 has said he is. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:56, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Demiurge, for that comment you deserve a ribbon. Drmies (talk) 17:17, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
Hmmmm.... they don't do "ribbons" as awards in the UK (or at least, they didn't when I was at school), although I do remember trying to affix one to my userpage here once. Badges and stars and such are a bit more of an international phenomenon. Ribbons I more often perceive as a bad and confusing thing that appeared when Office 2007 was released. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:37, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
My kid started handing out (non-physical) ribbons when she was 5. I can hardly pick her up from school today and slap a Template:Globalize/US on her forehead, now can I? But if you're fishing for a barnstar I'll give you one. :) Drmies (talk) 17:45, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
Non-physical ribbons? :S --Demiurge1000 (talk) 18:19, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Your Jiri Strasky sub-page

I was a bit confused by your tags and talk page message. What I have done is, delete the sub-page by WP:CSD#U1 user request to delete sub-page, and its talk page by WP:CSD#G8 page dependent on a deleted page. If that was not what you wanted, leave a note below here. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:09, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Your Tornado draft article

I hope you don't mind that I made a few improvements. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:47, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

I do not mind. --Starship9000 (talk) 18:04, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Good :-) I also did a search for sources you can use to establish notability and to add some more information. I found the following:
I assume you know how to use Google translate to help you understand a website in a foreign language, but you probably know more Spanish than I do :-) Anyway, those should help you improve the article. Yngvadottir (talk) 18:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
This article currently looks better than most of what's submitted at WP:AFC. I don't know if you should move it to the mainspace or not, but if you put {{subst:submit}} at the top of it, then an AFC reviewer will decide if it should be moved to the mainspace within one to three weeks. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 21:23, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Your recent edit concerning sockpuppets

I have reverted your edit here [1] which added content incorrectly positioned for the page, I'm also not sure how you came to the conclusion that this was indeed another sockpuppet? Theroadislong (talk) 20:57, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

You mean that sockpuppet of Ryan kirkpatrick? --Starship9000 (talk) 21:47, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes, the one that had been taken care of two years ago ... --McDoobAU93 15:49, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Aww, thanks :-)

You and your IP edits

Starship, regarding the recent discussion on my talk page, you are evading the conditions of staying unblocked. We know the exact street address of your IP and a technical investigation will prove that you and the IP are the same user.

I will relist those conditions here:

  • You will not patrol pages and tag them
  • You will create all new articles in your user space first.
  • You will log in to make every edit and NOT use your IP to evade the conditions that you have been set.

If you make one single further breach of these conditions, you will be blocked indefinitely until you are old enough to understand that Wikipedia is a serious project. I hope that we will not have to resort to blocking you again. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:03, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

February 2013

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. I agree with your statements, but we are not permitted to use Wikipedia as a forum. TBrandley (what's up) 02:14, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Maybe come back in one year?

Hi, maybe you should come back in one year when you might be able to understand Wikipedia better? Please ask your parents about this and see what they think. Please tell us what your parents think.

Please also tell us if you are planning to ask your parents what they think. :) --Demiurge1000 (talk) 00:34, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

I am going to mess you until March! --Starship9000 (talk) 00:40, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
March is one month from now, not one year from now. Why do you mention March? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 00:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
I do not want to be blocked anymore. I am really going to mess you, Explicit, Kudpung, Drmies, LadyofShalott, Astros4477, Dom497, Beyond My Ken and some other editors so please tell them that I will mess them and I will come back either in July or 2014. I am really going to mess you since I have to take a break. I really want to stay unblocked so go tell Kudpung and I could either sign up for adopt-me that way I could learn more. Bye! --Starship9000 (talk) 01:12, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
I will tell Kudpung that he must arrange an adopter for you in February 2014. Kudpung is my special friend so I am sure that he will arrange something. In the meantime, please do not edit Wikipedia at all, even from an IP address while signed out. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 01:22, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
I need to make one last edit on woodstocks express then I will be gone. Bye! --Starship9000 (talk) 01:24, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
We'll be here waiting on you! :) --McDoobAU93 01:33, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
^Even me! (and miss is spelt with an i, not an e :P )--Dom497 (talk) 13:22, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
I can do adopt me and do lessons. --Starship9000 (talk) 23:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Starship, why are you asking me how to get articles to GA status? I thought you were taking a break.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 00:09, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

I need to ask you and nominate it before I take a break from wikipedia. I want to nominate SkyScreamer to good status before I take a break and go so how do I nominate it? First of all, I want to nominate the SkyScreamer article to good status before I leave and the reward for the Good article nominating is the good article barnstar. The question is: How do I nominate a article to good status? I want to nominate it before taking a break. Thanks! --Starship9000 (talk) 00:14, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
I already asked you to check what your parents think. How do they feel about the state of SkyScreamer compared with other articles listed at WP:GA ? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 02:37, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
  • Starship, taking a break means not editing. Instead I see you have been using Twinkle to revert people, and I have had to undo your two reversions as unjustified. One of them you marked as vandalism - which means intentionally doing damage to the encyclopedia - when it was quite reasonable, as a Google search just showed me. Please stop using Twinkle and talk to your parents as people have suggested. Wikipedia will still be here for you to edit in one year, and there will still be lots of articles left to write then, trust me. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:31, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

It's time to decide ...

Starship, we need to get serious for a moment. You said you would take a break for a while ... you haven't done it. In fact, you've said you want to promote an article before you take the break (sounds a lot like "just five more minutes, mom!" to me). You've now added Twinkle and are making very questionable reverts. I think it's time for a binding decision to be made. Do you plan on taking a break from Wikipedia for a year, or do you plan on staying as an active editor?

If you take the break, I would wish you good tidings and look forward to seeing you after a year. If you decide to stick around, there are critical problems that I think need to be solved and that CAN be solved with some hard work and discipline. Here is what I, personally, would recommend:

  • Editor shall locate a mentor to guide their editing on the project. Editor may not edit articles or talk pages until mentor has been selected. User page edits and user talk page edits are allowed during this process.
  • Editor shall not ask about promoting an article, but editor may assist (with mentor's guidance) in responding to existing comments that will help an article get promoted. Mentor should point out articles in editor's fields of interest that are on verge of promotion or in need of editing assistance as part of the learning process.
  • Editor shall only ask mentor about activities that generate userboxes, barnstars, etc. Mentor shall be charged with giving credit where credit is due and making such awards as deemed appropriate. Awards duly earned should be and will be duly awarded.
  • Editor shall not use Twinkle, Huggle or any other automation tool. The key to learning is doing it the hard way. As a parallel example, if I were a teacher, I wouldn't let a student use a calculator until they had shown they knew addition, subtraction, multiplication and division backwards and forwards.
  • Editor shall not revert or undo any edits except their own. If editor believes a revert is necessary, editor shall seek out their mentor, who will make the decision if the revert/undo is indeed justified, even if revert/undo is made by another editor, and give their findings to the editor.
  • Editor shall always edit while logged in using their account. Any violation of Wikipedia policies on edit-warring or sockpuppetry will result in a forced break in the form of a one-year block from the date of infraction.

I would ask the other editors (Demiurge, Drmies, LadyOfShalott, etc.) who have followed you to offer their suggestions (and to modify my own) for a proper mentorship program, as well. The goal is one that will help you grow as an editor, which I think would help you a lot as you continue through school. And there should (and will) be some awards along the way ... when they're earned.

--McDoobAU93 07:39, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Starship, thank you very much for the barnstar :-) I'm very glad I was able to help, and I hope you can see from what I did how to improve other draft articles. But you need to decide which of the two alternatives above in this section you want to do. Remember, Wikipedia isn't going away. We will all be here to help you in a year's time - or if not precisely us, the Wikipedia crew :-) And if you stay around, you will have to focus hard for a while on what your mentor tells you. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:26, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
My suggestion of a one year break was a suggestion... but it now looks as if it's not a suggestion Starship9000 wants to follow. I don't think specifying a minimum one-year block for something potentially as trivial as (yet again) forgetting to log in before editing is appropriate.
I further suggest that someone finds Starship9000 an adopter who runs a lessons-and-tests based course (many such courses include mini-barnstars at the successful completion of each lesson, which may help to meet some of the other needs here). --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
I agree! I really want to take tests and lessons about how wikipedia works instead. --Starship9000 (talk) 17:40, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
User: Go Phightins! offered to adopt you three weeks ago. Did you respond to his offer? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:10, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Starship9000 Adoption

I am willing to take on User:Starship9000 on as an adoptee under the following terms:

  • During the course of the adoption, without my express permission, Starship is not to do any of the following:
    • New page patrolling
    • Article creation
    • Category creation
    • Participating in the deletion process
    • Propose any article for GA or FA
    • Add or remove any tags
    • Use any form of automation (e.g., Twinkle)
  • During the course of adoption, the only pages Starship9000 is to edit are:
    • his talk page
    • my talk page
    • Kudpung's talk page
    • the adoption page
    • the adoption talk page
    • SkyScreamer – but not to propose it for GA status
    • any other changes to articles, but only in article space
    • User:Starship9000 (but not any subpages of it)
  • Starship9000 will receive a barnstar after he successfully completes the first test and the final exam.
  • Starship must receive an 80% or higher on all tests in order to advance to the next lesson.
    • All grades will be determined using the subjective opinion of User:Go Phightins! using the following criteria:
      • A 5/5 demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the topic in question beyond a reiteration of the definition and provides a specific "real-wiki" example.
        • For the question "What is vandalism?", a 5/5 would look something like this: "Vandalism is any bad-faith edit intended to harm the encyclopedia. For example, changing Chris Christie's weight to 5,000 pounds is vandalism."
      • A 4/5 demonstrates a general knowledge of the topic and may include material directly copied from a policy/guideline/essay or not include an example.
        • For the aforementioned question, a 4/5 would look something like this: "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. An example would be crude humor."
      • A 3/5 is a simple reiteration of policy, or a partially correct response.
        • "Vandalism is anything that harms Wikipedia"
      • A 2/5 is an answer that is wrong in multiple respects.
      • A 1/5 is an answer that would equate to an Ad Hominem attack were this a DR discussion. In other words, "This question is stupid"
    • If the adoptee disagrees with a grade, he is to first explain why to his mentor. Go Phightins! will then review the answer and explain his reasoning. If Starship9000 still disagrees, he may contact any other user on the List of Adopters or any administrator with whom he's previously interacted on his talk page to review the answer.
    • Should Starship9000 not complete a test with a passing grade, he is to review the material in the lesson, and let Go Phightins! know if he has any questions prior to requesting a new test, which Go Phightins! will generate.
  • During the course of adoption, Starship9000 agrees to log in prior to editing.
  • Should Starship9000 decide to leave adoption at any point, he should contact a new adopter prior to resuming normal editing.
  • Should Starship9000 resume editing without notifying his adopter and abandon adoption without seeking to enroll in a new course, Kudpung (or any other administrator) will use his discretion in determining an appropriate course of action.

  • Starship9000, please review my proposed terms and, if you agree to them, please notify me on my talk page. If you would like to propose modifications, please do so on this page.
  • Kudpung (and any other interested users), should you have any suggestions or if you feel these terms are unreasonable, please either change them or let me know. I would like Kudpung and/or another administrator to "sign off" prior to the adoption commencing.
  • Thank you. Note: This was originally posted on Kudpung's talk page, but I thought it appropriate to post here as well. I would welcome any feedback. --Go Phightins! 22:32, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
I'm all for it, Phigtins. Very reasonable terms. I think if Starship wants to become a productive editor, as he says he does, then he would be wise to accept them. --McDoobAU93 22:41, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
I concur; this is the correct step to become a productive editor for anybody. TBrandley (what's up) 00:13, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
I've added in User:Starship9000 (but not any of its subpages) as one of the pages that can be edited. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 11:59, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

I think there are some proposed terms for these conditions. The following terms should be added to the things I can edit:

  • Astros4477's talk page
  • The Bushranger's talk page. He usually works with me on bridge related articles and I usually ask him for help with bridge articles.
  • Dom497's talk page
  • DragonflySixtyseven's talk page
  • Create draft articles and articles in my sandbox pages.

There are also stuff that should not be edited added on here. The stuff I think I should not do or edit are:

Thanks! --Starship9000 (talk) 01:39, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

    • I will stipulate to those talk pages, but let's not worry about creating new articles yet. Go Phightins! 02:21, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
  • Starship, I need an answer from you as soon as possible as I have another potential adoptee waiting, so if you want to accept my offer, please do so very soon. Thanks. Go Phightins! 00:12, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Starship, the conditions set out by GoPhitings are very reasonable. The problem is that although you are enthusiastic and keen to help Wikipedia, your good faith edits are too often wrong. This comes from not knowing about how stuff works here. Editors need a lot of clue before they can work in the 'management' areas, and you haven't got that yet. Read GoPhiting's suggestions very carefully, because under my conditions I should already have blocked you yesterday. Remember, that if you do get blocked, it's not a punishment, it's just to prevent people from constantly having to clean up your good faith mistakes. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:54, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

I will read them right now! --Starship9000 (talk) 21:31, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Commence adoption

Starship9000, your adoption page is located here. Please remember to abide by the terms set forth above. Good luck and welcome aboard. Go Phightins! 00:28, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Your first test has been graded, and I've posted 5 follow-up questions for you. Go Phightins! 21:06, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Jarrett's Joy Cart

You removed the orphan tag from Jarrett's Joy Cart but the article is still an orphan, no other articles link to it. I have replaced it. Your comments on the article talk page were also not helpful or correct.Theroadislong (talk) 16:14, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Might I remind you that not tagging articles was part of your unblocking agreement? This also includes untagging. gwickwiretalkedits 21:59, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
For the sake of accuracy, do be aware that Starship9000 has never been unblocked, thus there is no "unblocking agreement" in force. There does appear to be some sort of "remaining unblocked" agreement between Starship9000 and Kudpung. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:07, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Mentorship

Have you begun your adoption by GoPhitings yet? For one thing, people do not join Wikipedia just to get barnstars - GA are very hard to do and you would need to successfully make several before you get a barnstar for it; for the moment, I do not believe you have sufficient experience. Please also do not spend time moving pages that are almost certain to be deleted or redirected. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:27, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

not yet. --Starship9000 (talk) 14:08, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Then please consider not overly concerning yourself with SPI cases or any other administrative matters until you have done so. Please remember that we are primarily here to build an encyclopedia - experience for the other stuff comes with time and maturity. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:57, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
May I please help nominate just one article to GA Status, Tsing Ma Bridge as my first GA Article? --Starship9000 (talk) 15:00, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Starship, you can go ahead and develop the article if you wish, but forget about nominating articles to good status right now, familiarize yourself with the criteria, and listen to Kudpung's advice above. Beside, that article requires a lot of improvement before it can be nominated. My two cents. TBrandley (what's up) 17:35, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Starship, I just posted your first test. Go Phightins! 18:03, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

I already took the test. --Starship9000 (talk) 18:15, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Did you see what one of my former adoptees, Tazerdadog, advised you? He's absolutely right; that level of explanation is not going to cut it. I'm looking to see how you arrived at your answer to show that you understand policies, not just are blindly guessing. Go Phightins! 23:30, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Simple English Wikipedia

I have been following your issues on here and I was wondering if you have heard of Simple Wikipedia. It looks like you don't want to have to read the complicated rules here, and I understand that. There is a version of Wikipedia that is designed to be less complicated and you might find it easier to participate there. Check out the Simple start page and let me know what you think. If you choose to stay at English Wikipedia, you need to take your adoption more seriously and actually read the rules. Andrew327 02:04, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

I can contribute on this wikipedia and the Simple English Wikipedia. --Starship9000 (talk) 02:41, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes you can, but English Wikipedia might be too complicated for you right now, and Simple Wikipedia could be a good place to learn how to edit within the rules for a while before coming back here. Andrew327 03:43, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Starship, I have deleted this file that you uploaded today. As you were told on your Commons talkpage, it has an incompatible license: the Flickr page from which you took it states top left "all rights reserved". It is therefore not a free image as you stated when you uploaded it, and we cannot have it here. This is a serious legal matter. Please do not upload files unless they are photographs you yourself have taken or you are sure they are free to use for any purpose. In addition, there is a night image of the bridge on Commons already: File:Ponte 25 de Abril at night.jpg, so I have put that into the article. At the bottom of the article you will see under External links a link to the Commons category on the bridge; always check there first, as there is very often already a suitable picture. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:16, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

You should not be uploading images unless directed to do so as a part of your adoption. Andrew327 01:35, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:NinjaCoastermodel.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:NinjaCoastermodel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:32, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

As I stated above, you should not upload images until you pass your adoption tests. Andrew327 06:14, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Here is the list of attractions at the park's own site. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:07, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! --Starship9000 (talk) 23:56, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
And thanks for the scrumptious brownie :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 19:49, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Your welcome! I will close this conversation and that is the end of it. --Starship9000 roller coaster lover 22:25, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Award of First Success
Well Starship, it took three tries, but the third one was a charm . A 76% is a start, and we will keep working in the future to get you up into the higher scores, but for now, that's good enough to get you to lesson number two. Congratulations. Go Phightins! 00:40, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 00:40, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Signature

Hello. When I was looking around, I noticed that you changed your signature from the generic one to a colored one, but I then noticed that the link to your talk page links to User talk:Starship instead of this page. You should probably fix the link. ZappaOMati 01:43, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

I already did fix the link. --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 01:51, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
  • As far as I can tell, it's still broken. Lukeno94 (talk) 15:01, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

You may not upload images

I believe this was in the adoption agreement, but if it was not, it is now. You may not upload images to Wikimedia Commons or to Wikipedia itself. This, for example, is obviously not your own work...even if you're claiming it as fair use, which is a questionable argument to begin with, fair use images cannot be uploaded to the Commons. Go Phightins! 01:57, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Do you contribute on Commons? Why can't I upload images at all? --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 01:59, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
No, I really don't spend much time on the Commons other than to look for images to add over here, but I do know that fair use images are not acceptable on the Commons and since what you uploaded is fair use at best, it can not be there. Ryan Vesey is on a Wiki-Break, but we have been conferring via email; he's the one who brought this to my attention and he's absolutely right. You may not contribute on Commons until you have a better grasp of Copyright, Fair Use, free images, etc. Note: That's a topic that will be covered extensively in Lesson Three of adoption, when you get that far. Go Phightins! 02:03, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
I want you to tell Astros4477 or his friend Dom497 that all the Pokemon XD:Gale of Darkness files need to be deleted because they are all from bulbapedia and they are copyvio's. Then, Ryan Vesey to go tell a Wikimedia Commons administrator like Courcelles, Cirt, Edgar181, INeverCry, Leyo, etc. Go on his talk page, not his wikimedia commons talk page. In fact, there should be more stuff for the conditions for me to not do during the adoption including:

Why can't I nominate a article to GA Status during the adoption? I really want to have 1 good article and will you please let me nominate the Tsing Ma Bridge article to GA Status although it is part of the adoption! And you should be active on Commons as well like Fastily although he retired from wikipedia and is active on Commons. Thanks! --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 02:19, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

  • Starship, I have reviewed a decent amount of GAs over the years (OK, well over the months, but it doesn't have the same poetic effect), and I am telling you right now that no article you've worked on that I've seen is even close to GA status. Consequently, all you nominating an article would do is waste the time of a reviewer and yourself. Work on the articles, just don't nominate them for statuses they're not ready to achieve.
  • And on the other point, you are more than welcome to self-impose those restrictions and as a matter of fact the first two were already in the agreement. Please talk to a Commons administrator to work on a plan over there too. You don't need me to do so. Go Phightins! 02:27, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Before I go tell a Commons administrator, I will tell Astros4477 or his best friend, Dom497, then I will go tell a Commons administrator about these pokemon images. Before I do those, I will ask The Bushranger, one of my wikifriends, about what the Tsing Ma Bridge article needs in order for it to be ready for GA. --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 02:41, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
By the way, I want at least one GA Article. --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 02:44, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Starship, I'm going to tell you the same thing everyone else is. You need to do the tests Go Phightins has posted and stay away from everything else. This has been discussed several times, it's not about the Barnstar or userbox. You shouldn't be wanting to nominate an article for GA status just because you want the userbox. I suggest you continue doing the tests and get to know Wikipedia. In regards to Commons, I told you where you can find roller coaster photos. You can't take any photo and claim it's yours, that's a copyright violation. In conclusion, take the tests, pass the tests then you'll have a better understanding of how Wikipedia works.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 04:52, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Weren't you directed not to create new articles, even in userspace, during this mentorship period? LadyofShalott 05:52, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Fine. I can just take the adoption tests before doing anything else. --Starship9000 (roller coaster fan) 14:24, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
