Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Thank you Eagleash. I will read up on the COI rules. I am not sure exactly how to correct factual errors about my own organization. For example reference to the board of the organization I work for was terribly out of date and therefore no longer correct information for the reader. As I do not know who created or edited the page, what is the right protocol for correcting out of date information when connected to the organization? As a COI editor, you should use the Talk page of your organization's article to request edits to be made by uninvolved editors. Your request should be unambiguous, as in "please change A to B", and state the reason for the change. --Quisqualis (talk) 19:57, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
