Image copyright problem with Image:Cfcpensioner.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Cfcpensioner.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

What do you think about it? --Andrea 93 (msg) 16:27, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Premier League

Thank you for the help! I really didn't know that writing Premier League's football matches requires a paid subscription...

Rumors

Hi! I just wanna ask you a question... I read your profile and I saw that you're a Chelsea fan, so am I. I've heard about some possibilities of a Joe Cole's transfer to Aston Villa or Liverpool and I hope that these are only summer rumors that journalists use for selling more... Do you know something about it??? If you have a few time please answer me.

Thanks

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Millwall crest.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Millwall crest.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Oliver Holt

Excuse me, i was the person who created the article. I was the first person to make mention of Holt's article on his wikipedia page. I have also been in communication with both the Daily Mirror and Blackburn Rovers football club with regard to this latest slanderous article from Mr Holt. He has previously accused our dead former owner Jack Walker of being racist in one of his articles. A comment i believe had to be retracted due to it's nature. If you took the time to read the article he created, it didn't quote any sources, and made direct insults at the club, which had no substance or relevence to the current climate, as layed out by my comments on his wikipedia page. What he said was a) unproven and b) quite frankly a lazy piece of journalism. If you read what he said you will also further notice that his comments were unreferenced, and very one sided/bias.

He did not give any alternate reasons for the club or it's fans to be unhappy with Mr Ince so far, such as poor performances, signings or innacurate public comments with regards to match performances. Mr Holt might as well have come out and said "Blackburn are a racist club because they are worried about the clubs latest form". I make note that he also forgets that the club 'hired Mr Ince' in the first place, and that if they were a racist club, why would they have approached him, and signed such players as Christopher Samba, Jason Roberts, Aaron Mokoena and Benni McCarthy for example.

The article/attack is completely, unfair, unjust and ridiculous and i stand by my original depiction of events... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tombo1984 (talkcontribs) 18:57, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

In fact it isnt the opinion of one. It is the opinion of many. Much like Mr Holt's unfounded opinions. I am just voicing exactly the same as he has... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.202.22 (talk) 23:50, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I'll refer you to the response I gave to the above user on their talk page. There are plenty of places on the internet to voice your opinion of Oliver Holt and his articles, but Wikipedia is not one of them. SteveO (talk) 01:10, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

British heavyweight boxing champion in period 30 April 1926 - 16 November 1931

I noticed you started List of British heavyweight boxing champions which currently lacks information regarding who held the title in the period between 30 April 1926 and 16 November 1931. Do you by any chance know why there is a gap in the list and where to look for this information? I need it since i am writing an article for ukrainian wikipedia and try to verify some facts. The article Stephen North has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources given, and web search fails to provide evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:07, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about your response on the article's talk page. Can you find reliable sources to support what you say? If you can give good evidence for notability I shall be perfectly happy for the article to be kept. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Chelsea info

Hi Steve - myself and some other Chelsea fans have started a new site compiling information about Chelsea. It's shaping up to be pretty big and we thought you might be interested in what we're doing. It's relevant to Wikipedia as potentially it could provide info that could be replicated on here. Is there a way I can contact you privately about it? Scaping (talk) 23:07, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

As discussed: http://www.thechels.info/wiki/Main_Page. It's a work in progress and only started a month or two ago, but there are lots of good people involved. You can email me at Scaping@TheChels.org. Cheers. Scaping (talk) 20:20, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello SteveO! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 12 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:47, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
