Unlikely to get it though AfD, however it will need a proper AfD template at the top. See WP:AfD for full details. Rich Farmbrough, 17:46, 5 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Sorry... StormContent (talk) 17:48, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the topic itself is quite notable, so instead edit the page to make it less promotional if you see it this way. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:30, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of user warning templates[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I've nominated a few of the user warning templates you've created recently for deletion. You can see the nominations at the following links:

The reason I've nominated these templates for deletion is because either an existing template exists which does the same thing, or because (in the case of {{Uw-genre4im}}) that it is not the sort of infraction which demands an immediate warning template. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) - talk 12:28, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fine. Created page for these templates. StormContent (talk) 18:31, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite. Can you explain why this page was created in user:Thomas's userspace and not your own, please? Also, if these warning templates are not to be used (and they presumably aren't) then they needn't be kept at all. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) - talk 18:39, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I must've named it with somebody else's page. How do you delete it? StormContent (talk) 18:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind[edit]

I moved the page to another appropriate page, "User:StormContent/my own warning templates"

I store all my created templates in there. If you can delete User:Thomas/my own warning templates... (I can't delete it) StormContent (talk) 18:59, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problemo![edit]

I just stumbled across your templates by accident (I was harassing Courcelles) and did what I could. Here's a template that I get a kick out of: [1] open the one called /Congrats. --Kenatipo speak! 14:18, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't do anything wrong, Puffin. You're maybe looking for here. StormContent (talk) 01:32, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know, that's why I explained in the edit summary. Puffin Let's talk! 14:49, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User warning templates[edit]

You've had long enough to take this in now, so let me be blunt. Our user warning templates have been specifically designed to balance firmness regarding our editing guidelines with avoiding biting new editors. If you continue to devise your own warning templates which duplicate existing ones without this careful balance and deploy them, as you did here, I will indefinitely block this account. Either stick to the standard warning template system (of which you are obviously aware) or stop working in the area of user warnings entirely until you have more experience on the project. Consider this a final warning, as repeated deletions of your custom templates do not appear to have impressed upon you that they should not be used. AN/I Report[edit]

Here's a quick background on Sven70 if you're unfamiliar with it. Blocked indefinitely mostly for sporadic disruption in two ways:

  • 1) His trolling using the debilitating "repetitive stress injury" which he claims he suffers from (though there is ample evidence that he can type almost expertly, and even write with his hand) and the fact that he sort of demands that everyone understand his "shorthand".
  • 2) His consistent history of popping up and screaming "Persecution Of The Disabled!!!" when this is certainly not the case.

He was banned on WikiQuote before he was blocked indefinitely here, and his history there shows entries from an IP he used that are not only perfectly typed but also rather wordy. Not the threatening nonsense gibberish he posts. So Sven70 is either:

  • a) A truly unfortunately disabled (and very disgruntled) user who is furious with the WMF and Wikipedia in general
-or-
  • b) A troll. (I pick this one).

The AN/I thread may get closed as resolved by someone, as nothing can really be done until he pops up again. The next step is a banning discussion; I've seen those go all over the place. Cheers :> Doc talk 04:20, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note - I moved all the "suspected" IP socks into the confirmed category through their WP:DUCK behavior and identical geolocation to each other. Sven70 is in Taipei, Taiwan, and all the IPs reflect not only this but the same exact DSL carrier. CU doesn't like to link IPs to named accounts (though it happens sometimes) and would find anything beyond 3 months old stale; they're not needed to confirm the fact that all these IPs are the same user. He doesn't even deny it. Doc talk 05:05, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Chances are that I will monitor Sven70's IP address. If he abuses the unblock template, I will ask an admin to revoke the ability to edit his user talk page. Thanks for telling me. StormContent (talk) 15:06, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RfA nomination[edit]

Regarding this: you haven't filled in the nomination correctly. If you really want to run, you need to follow all the steps at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Nominate. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) - talk 10:34, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I might need some help on that, as it's going to talk a while. StormContent (talk) 15:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Heya Stormcontent. Waiting's not a bad idea - no one with less than 3000 edits has become an admin in the past 2 years! WormTT · (talk) 17:46, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Excuse me[edit]

Please don't do something like this again. We do not put block templates in every blocked user's userpage, and certainly not for run-of-the-mill vandals that haven't edited for over four years. Please try to use a little discretion or common sense in the future. Thank you, /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 17:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have I done something wrong? I'm going there to remove my vandalism. Forgive me. StormContent (talk) 17:36, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, wait. I will need to delete that page to remove my vandalism. Can you do it please? I can't do it since i'm not an admin. StormContent (talk) 17:40, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It it's not visible, don't worry about it. It's only really serious vandalism that needs to actually be deleted from the history. WormTT · (talk) 17:52, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not vandalism, StormContent. I'm not sure why you're labeling it vandalism, unless you admit that edit was made in bad faith. In which case I'd be happy to block you. But anyway, please don't bother yourself with sticking block templates on peoples' user pages. ta. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 02:19, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Facepalm Facepalm I'll stop, I promise not to do it again. StormContent (talk) 02:24, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
When I noticed you removed this yourself [3] I almost didn't comment on it, but your edit summary [4] suggests that somebody else did it, which anyone can see is not the case. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:37, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I noticed somebody else warned him already, so I removed it as this would be an accident. I'm sorry. StormContent (talk) 22:42, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can let you know that there is little to no chance of you succeeding. As an unwritten rule, you need to have shown consistently good judgement and made several thousand edits to articles and housekeeping tasks, along with being consistently active on the project for a large number of months or even years. The only candidate to succeed with near your number of edits on this Wikipedia had over 1 million edits put together from his work on other wikis. In this case, waiting is a very good idea. --Σ talkcontribs 21:49, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has been experimentally proven multiple times that pure antivandalism is not a way to get adminship. Also, you can help keep Wikipedia clean from vandalism right now. There are a number of antivandalism methods such as Twinkle, Igloo, STiki, and Huggle. --Σ talkcontribs 21:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I applaud your enthusiasm, but I agree, you've been editing for just over a month and have less than 400 edits. Your RfA won't succeed. But vandalism is a huge problem and any help you can give Wikipedia in that matter is appreciated. You definitely don't have to be an admin for that! -- Atama 01:10, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree - I've done an awful lot of research on RfAs recently, and as far as I'm concerned any editor with less than 3k is going to struggle to get past the first day. If you'd like to chat about it further, without incriminating yourself ;) feel free to email me per User:Worm That Turned/Request an RfA nomination WormTT · (talk) 09:26, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have closed the RfA as WP:NOTNOW. Baseball Watcher 16:54, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
When can I nominate myself again? Did not recieve any votes, but I'll wait to become one. StormContent (talk) 17:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You should wait until an existing administrator suggests to you that you are ready to stand for adminship. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:36, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On a side note, you didn't receive any votes because you didn't actually nominate yourself for adminship. You just created the page. When you are truly ready for adminship, make sure you read all of the instructions and transclude your nomination correctly. Ryan Vesey Review me! 19:05, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ClueBot's awards[edit]

Hello!

First of all, thank you for giving ClueBot some barnstars recently for hard work. The bot really does appreciate them.

In future though, could you please add the barnstars to the awards page instead of on the talk page? Any questions, please ask me on my talk page, or you can post on ClueBot's talk page and someone will assist you.

Thanks for your co-operation.--5 albert square (talk) 14:53, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grawp and Jimbo[edit]

Why have you posted about Grawp several times on User Talk:Jimbo Wales? As far as I know, Jimbo Wales is not actively involved in anti-vandalism or WP:LTA prevention. What input are you hoping to get from him? Also, your question seems a bit odd; you say that you want to "ban" Grawp, but Grawp is actually community banned, not only on Wikipedia, but on all Wikimedia projects. What more do you think should be done? Qwyrxian (talk) 00:42, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, It's not Grawp who needs to be banned. It's his other sockpuppets that needs blocking. :He has million of them, so watch out, and I didn't mean to do this. I'm sorry. StormContent (talk) 13:17, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I forgot I had sent this message to you. I guess the problem was your confusion between the term "ban" and "blocked". WP:BAN is a term that refer to a real, human person--so, it's the human behind the "Grawp" account that is banned. Each of the indifidual accounts that he creates are blocked as they are found (as a consequence of his WMF-wide ban). If you spot a sock of Grawp, the best place to raise it is on WP:AIV; Jimbo is not involved in issues like vandal fighting (as far as I know). It was also odd because if I remember correctly, when you brought the report to Jimbo, the sock had already been blocked, so it wasn't clear what more you wanted done, even if you had raised it at the right place. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:26, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Socks of Grawp goes to AIV. Thanks. StormContent (talk) 13:49, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help me! Urgent[edit]

I nominated a talk page in the wrong namespace, and I can't close it myself! When I check the edit box, It said "Do not remove"! I moved it to MfD, but it got worse! StormContent (talk) 13:49, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little unsure what the problem is. It's been closed at AFD and it's currently going through MfD. Have I missed something? WormTT · (talk) 13:55, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Disney ad[edit]

Hey, StormContent. I noticed you suggested an ad for WikiProject Disney. I'd be happy to put one together... did you have a design in mind, though? What should it say? Swarm u | t 05:18, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can put in sleeping beauty's castle in front of a starry backround, saying "Wish for more Disney?", then I can put cinderella's castle in front of a daytime-like backround saying "Then join the Disney WikiProject and wish upon a star!". Seems pretty good. StormContent (talk) 00:19, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation[edit]

You have suggested that I was guilty of sock puppetry, but I assure you that is not the case. I had previously been updating this site without logging in, but then decided it would be best to create an account, so I did that, and used the new account for my next update. It was an attempt to improve my communications, not to subvert the rules or confuse people. Wufusk (talk) 14:20, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so sorry, I didn't know that you were doing the right thing. I'll forgive you. StormContent (talk) 22:52, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RFPP edits[edit]

Hi there! I just noticed your recent edit to WP:RFPP declining the protection request for Realm of the Mad God. While I encourage you to get involved at RFPP, please let admins make the final decisions and use the {{rfpp}} template. It's not a problem if you want to make a comment using something like {{Non-administrator observation}}; however, when you use {{rfpp}} the bot archives the request automatically.

So from now on can you make sure not to use {{rfpp}}? Thanks so much! Malinaccier (talk) 04:34, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. StormContent (talk) 12:28, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mickey Mouse clubhouse[edit]

Thanks for the suggestion at WP:RFPP, but I declined your request. A simple google search indicates some of these might be legit, but I do agree it should definitely be looked into (assuming good faith of course!). Article Feedback deployment[edit]

Hey StormContent; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:58, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like he can get a new IP at will. Either stopped or moved on. Not sure he warrants a range block. Dlohcierekim 15:38, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly agree with you. You know what they say, persistent vandal IPs should be reported to the sysops. Be on the lookout please. StormContent 15:43, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's time to take action again. The IP looks like it might engage in long-term vandalism like now. Anyways, thanks for keeping cool when the editing got hot, but please be on the lookout and report IP vandals to AIV like always. :) StormContent 16:51, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am a sysop. Discospinster appears to have cured his ills. User talk page makes interesting reading. Maybe new IP addresses are harder to come by than he thought. Dlohcierekim 18:14, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He stopped for 3 days, restarted while I was at work or asleep. And he didn't pay me a visit? I feel SO slighted. Dlohcierekim 18:17, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So I report that IP to AIV? No problem. StormContent 22:01, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
NO. He was blocked by Discospinster. WP:AIV is only for active vandalism in progress. For long term IP vandalis, we use escalating warnings and blocks each time the vandal becomes active. IP's change over time, so we must be circumspect in blocking. Discospinster either managed to nail 'em good or he was smart enough to not taunt Discospinster when he switched IP's. A range block would stop that, but could effect other users, so should be done only as a last resort. Dlohcierekim 23:29, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what to say to that. All I can say is let's wait for the block to expire and see what happens. StormContent 23:33, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't worry about a single IP vandal. There are so many of them. I was had a IP vandal drive 15 miles to tell me he'd evaded a block! All we can do is revert-warn-block. They cannot doirrepairable harm, we just revert what we see and block whom we can. Dlohcierekim 23:37, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. StormContent 13:09, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your IP issue[edit]

It's best to just revert and get on with editing. I'll protect your page for a month or so if you like, but your request for indefinite is a bit long. Legitimate IPs may wish to communicate with you in the future. Oh, and no need to caution him about a longer block. His block is indefinite. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:07, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anna, please meet me at ANI. I'm opening a case that involves a sockpuppetry case, 4 IPs, and LordComputerHero. Should be up soon. StormContent 17:21, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I promise not to feed the trolls. If I do, it will just make matters worse (I saw your email). StormContent 18:34, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature[edit]

Hi StormContent. I see you have a different shade of yellow in your signature now. It is invisible on my display. Could you please consider choosing a color that meets the contrast requirements of colorblind people and those with poor vision? There's a tool at http://snook.ca/technical/colour_contrast/colour.html that you can use to determine the visibility of various colors against a white background. Ideally you should strive for WCAG 2 AAA Compliant (18pt+), but at a bare minimum we need WCAG 2 AA compliance per the guideline at WP:CONTRAST. There's lists of colors available at List of colors and elsewhere online. If you need any help with this please let me know. Thanks, -- Diannaa (talk) 00:17, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I never thought I had a poor signature that colorblind people can't see. Is this good? (I changed yellow to teal) --> StormContent 01:45, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I like it and can see it easily. Thanks very much, -- Diannaa (talk) 02:38, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:UAA reports on users with no edits[edit]

Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI: "Wait until the user edits. Do not report a user that hasn't edited unless they are clearly a vandal. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste our time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. So we add the {{UAA|wait}} tag to the report, it goes to WP:UAA/HP for a week or more, and must then be reviewed again to see if the account has since become active before removing it. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:27, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A cookie for you![edit]

Here's a cookie for reporting the MRY abuse to RfPP at just about the same time as me. I added the other pages to my request after you posted yours. Cheers! EclipseDude (talk) 02:55, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@EclipseDude It was a duplicate on my part and I replaced with Rodriguez, Rizal requested for protection. Expect it to be protected very shortly. In the meantime, cookie devoured and enjoyed. Thanks! ;D StormContent 02:59, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: 11:14 PM EDT: Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 has been hit by MRY and is now up for protection. StormContent 03:15, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
