RE: MADNESS

Hi. I know we've had a run-in very recently on an unrelated topic, and am putting that behind us (at least for the moment). I just thought I'd let you know that I've dropped a few notes at User talk:Jeff.science. Cheers. -- Trevj (talk) 21:22, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes, thank you, I had noticed. Personally I'm not worried about incivility (except in so far as it deters would-be new comers from contributing to wikipedia, which should be an issue we should all be concerned with). I'm mulling over whether to take R&D 100 Awards to the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. I think I'll wait until the current AfD is over and the dust has settled. Stuartyeates (talk) 21:29, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Agreed regarding the retention of newcomers. I think that R&D 100 Awards is probably a merge candidate for R&D Magazine, so have just requested undeletion of the latter. We'll see what happens. -- Trevj (talk) 21:58, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

I was just about to add sources actually.. Could you let me know what spesific claims you think require a source? The stuff I was writing was just a pretty simple explanation of how iPredict works. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick3fry (talkcontribs) 22:13, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

All information in wikipedia needs a source. That page in particular needs sources with in depth coverage in independent reliable sources, as per the banner. Stuartyeates (talk) 22:23, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Hello Mr.Stuartyeates/Recently I added an article and would like to improve it.Would you please retrieve it again.Thank you and Kindest regardsShirin Nezhadbahram (talk) 03:03, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

You can ask for if you be userfied at WP:REFUND, but I cannot in good faith recommend that, since I don't believe you will achieve your desired goal of getting your autobiography into wikipedia. Stuartyeates (talk) 03:21, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey there. Would you like me to userify that article somewhere in your userspace so I you can do a merge with Soot (software)? — Coren (talk) 23:47, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes please. Stuartyeates (talk) 23:53, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
I put it at User:Stuartyeates/Jimple. Have fun. — Coren (talk) 00:30, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

I notice you've merge Java Intermediate Language into SableVM. However I doubt the claim you added that "Some versions of the SableVM use Java Intermediate Language, an intermediate language (which is a subset of XML) representing the type structure of a Java program." On of the two referenced papers only mentions it was used in combination with Soot. None of them mentions anything about SableVM. —Ruud 00:04, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome to re-do my merge to Soot (software) instead. Stuartyeates (talk) 00:40, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

cleanup tag

You just added this tag to History of the Philippines (citations). You're right, it's not an article, it's just a list of citations which I transclude in lots of places. (Hence the name).

I'd move it, but it's not clear from the hat-note where to.

John of Cromer in China (talk) mytime= Wed 08:42, wikitime= 00:42, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

This took me a while to work out too. I've moved it to Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines/History of the Philippines (citations). Stuartyeates (talk) 00:48, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

{{Proposed deletion}} should "only be used if no opposition is to be expected." When using this method of deletion it would be best to apply some logic. 1977 is an upcoming album by one of the world's best known record producer-artists. Whilst I agree the article might fall down on notability nominating it for a prod delete without discussion is not a correct application of the policy. Its highly likely that in the near future the album will gain more notoriety. A search of Google for reliable sources as seen here, shows at least 5 on the first page that could be used to expand the article. Also upon release its highly likely that more information would become available. This means that the deletion decision is controversial and hence you should have opted instead for {{Article for deletion}} instead. Finally if an album by a major artist is going to be released in the near future (a.k.a a week) it should be redirected rather than deleted. Btw this isnt me scolding you, its simply pointing out that the use of Prod was incorrect under these circumstances. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 10:38, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

I was doing new page patrol and see an article with no independent refs with in depth coverage and act accordingly. I've never heard of the guy myself. Stuartyeates (talk) 17:22, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the warning about WP:REFUND. Sorry if I put the cart before the horse. Regards — Poison Whiskey 14:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

I removed the PROD for the List of Syracuse Orange bowl games. Although, if I had my druthers, I believe that this content should be merged with the university's football article. However, this is one article of 30+ in a category where there appears to be an established concensus to keep the information regarding the bowl games seperate.

Syracuse University is a major US university.

This really doesn't meet the criteria of a PROD, since this would be a controvertial deletion.

Roodog2k (talk) 21:30, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

As someone from outside the US I can attest that that article makes no sense to a global audience. Stuartyeates (talk) 21:39, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
In American college football, teams with a certain ranking and/or win-loss record are invited to play in certain special post-season "bowl games," such as the Rose Bowl Game. There are many more of these "bowl" games around the country that are notable. Roodog2k (talk) 18:56, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
The place to put the explanation is not on my talk page, but in the lede of the articles in question. BTW 'college football' means something different in the USA compared to outside it, see College football (disambiguation). Stuartyeates (talk) 19:00, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
I was just affording you the courtsey of why I removed the PROD, since it was blatently questionable. No explanation, per policy, is required when removing a PROD, BTW. I was trying to handle this nicely. Roodog2k (talk) 15:21, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

    • Had to fix reporting of aliases in wbsearchentities again
    • Implemented integration of baserevids for statements UI API calls for editconflict detection for statements/claims/snaks
    • Universal Language Selector fallback fix for Selenium tests
    • Report URL to entity in wbsearchentites API module
