November 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm John from Idegon. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Hawken School, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. This is not an extension of the school's webpage. If secondary sources do not exist, it most likely does not belong in the article John from Idegon (talk) 06:22, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sonos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rhapsody (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Re: User talk:AnomieBOT/Archive 12#"citation needed" when fact had a citation. I apologise my lazy selection of template, which I have now corrected.

There is indeed a citation, but the citation itself is vague, because it does not tell us what it means by "New Voices". I have recently disambiguated the page because many of the inbound links to New Voices were not intended for New Voices (magazine), the former primary topic, but for something else. In most cases it was trivial to understand what was intended, but for Oster, I could not find anything else, like any mention on the website of New Voices magazine, or just a statement that she is Jewish, to connect her to it. I could have just unlinked it, but that would bury the problem, so I wanted to flag it up in case another editor can source clarification. --Monxton (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Right that the CV at Yale.edu just lists among her board memberships "New Voices, 1999-2004" without saying which "New Voices". The Jewish college students' journal seems likely, but I saw no source confirming that. Sullidav (talk) 16:30, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sheila Schwartz![edit]

Great article. I am a huge Dan Chaon fan and I have glossed over his work related to Sheila because it is so difficult to read. I can read his brutal fiction (which has been life-changing for me) without melting into tears. Very odd. But beside the point! Thank you for writing an article on a writer so incredibly deserving. Thanks OrangeMike. I will be totally open. I have a relationship with Maria Thomas and here is its entirety. I met her once at a bookstore reading and signing event in about 1988, maybe a year and a half before her death, and I bought a book by her and she signed it, inscribed to me, and it's still in my basement. We were among a bunch of people hanging out in the same bookstore for about an hour. Also I think she's a terrific writer, at risk of being forgotten. who belongs in an encyclopedia. Last, my current employer was her husband's employer: the US government. I can't imagine any of this as a conflict but tell me if you disagree.
I have no relationship with her son other than reaching out to him two days ago about this page, I have never met him and never contacted him before two days ago. First, I asked if he was ok with me creating the page. If he did not want there to be a page about his mother, I would not publish one, out of respect for his wishes. Somebody else could but I wouldn't. I also want to make sure the first draft had no egregious errors that could discredit it to someone who knew her life. I also asked whether he can give any information that would help me compile his mother's bibliography, eg, point me to reliable sources that would identify some short stories she published which I had not found, since I want this listing of her published works to be as complete as possible. I did ask whether or not he wants his name in the article, in a line from the draft "her son[, name]". Of course his name is in public sources that are cited so anybody else could add or delete that name once the article is published, but I asked and will follow his preference in the first published version. I asked whether for any other concerns or reactions, including on style. Last, for my own information and better understanding, not to change the article which would be original research, I asked him about some of the chronology of her life where sources are silent or vague or contradictory.
Finally, I'm writing this draft article on my own behalf, as a private individual. As always, I'll do my best to be consistent with the content policies. Sullidav (talk) 11:30, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Maria Thomas. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 21:28, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Theroadislong. I am nearly finished and will probably submit tomorrow. Contrary to what I wrote to you elsewhere, I will hit the "submit draft for review" button rather than just popping the article into Wikipedia mainspace, as I have done for most recent articles I wrote. Your review will be welcome. Sullidav (talk) 02:01, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
