Transferring info at Julian Assange[edit]

Saw your edit at the article. Wanted to make sure you know you can access full past content in the History section. Just click on the date of the version you want in the History, and clicking the Edit tab will let you access the source of past articles. You can't save those drafts, but you can copy and paste it wherever you want. I only mention it, because adding 10K back into a BLP article just to tweak it for another purpose probably won't last long. Ocaasi (talk) 14:37, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, glad that info was helpful. 10k was a reference to the size of text you replaced. If you look on the History page, in (parentheses), you'll see the number of bytes which an edit adds or takes away. Bigger edits are more likely to be noticed, especially on a busy article. A BLP is shorthand for Biography of a Living Person, and we have a WP:BLP policy which you can read about. Basically, we don't mess around with living people when it comes to sourcing, negative information, and relevance--we apply our highest standards regarding these because the articles can do real harm to actual people. (As opposed to poorly sourced negative irrelevant info in an article about fish, for example). We try to make all of our articles high quality, but take a less tolerant, patient, or inclusive stance when it comes to BLPs.

Your edits weren't a problem in that way, but they did add back info that was better on another article (the one about Wikileaks or Cablegate). That had actually been discussed on the Talk:Julian_Assange page. I'm glad you're trying to figure things out around here. May I recommend the links I collected for new users.
