File copyright problem with File:Cvovwblogo.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Cvovwblogo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. dave pape (talk) 19:04, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Cvovwblogo.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Cvovwblogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Michael C O'Dowd painting by Frances Kendall, 2006.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Michael C O'Dowd painting by Frances Kendall, 2006.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 09:45, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Michael Conway O'Dowd.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Michael Conway O'Dowd.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:30, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Delegates to the South African National Convention 1908.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Delegates to the South African National Convention 1908.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:13, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Super Warmonkey. I think you should really ask about this image at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions because it seems highly unlikely that a photo taken in 1908 would not be considered to be within the public domain. I say unlikely because even though this photo seems old enough to be Template:PD-old-100, Template:PD-USonly or Template:PD-US-1923-abroad, etc. there may be something particular to South African copyright law which might mean it's still protected by copyright. Whether the photograph was published prior to 1923, who took the photo and when that person died are things which might also impact the file's copyright status. Regardless, you uploaded the file as non-free content which means that it cannot be used in User:Super Warmonkey/sandbox/4 per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:UP#Non-free files, and it requires a separate specific non-free use rationale for each use in an article per WP:NFCC#10c and WP:F6. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I'll cross this bridge when I have transferred the content from my sandbox to an article. Super Warmonkey (talk) 11:20, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's one option, but you should be advised that the file will be deleted in a few days per WP:F6 if you don't provide a valid non-free use rationale, and you cannot provide such a rationale for use in your sandbox per NFCC#9. Moreover, all non-fee content is required to be used in at least one article per WP:NFCC#7, and those which aren't are subject to speedy deletion per WP:F5. Just for reference, if the file is deleted either per F6 or F5, you can likely request that in be WP:REFUNDed once you're ready to use it in an article or do indeed figure out that it's within the public domain. Just contact the administrator who deleted the file and explain what happened; he/she should "undelete" the file absent any other outstanding problems with the file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:07, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File:Stephan P. du Toit Viljoen.jpg listed for discussion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Stephan P. du Toit Viljoen.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:34, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded, File:Stephan P. du Toit Viljoen.jpg, where you either stated or implied that you had permission of a third party to upload it; or that evidence of such permission would be provided on request.

Wikipedia currently needs the permission to be explicit and proven at the time of upload.

Please read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, which advises on how to confirm the permission you obtained from a third party.

It is also advisable to ask the third-party what source attribution they desire, as opposed to marking the image as having been "sent personally". ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:35, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Super Warmonkey. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Stephan P. du Toit Viljoen".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 17:01, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Warden Lee moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Robert Warden Lee, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~~Cheers~~Mgbo120 18:19, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 23:59, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
