conflict of interest policy and user name issues[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Swiftagency13", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent a group, organization or company. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you.

Information icon Hello, Swiftagency13. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:05, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Misplaced content removed[edit]

Hello, its kind of confusing and I don't know why they do it, but during the Articles for Creation process, the article content goes on the Talk page and the Project page stays blank.

I removed the copy of the content that you added onto the project page Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Taylor Talk: The Taylor Swift Podcast. If there was anything from that version that you want to use, you can find it in the history of the page [1] by clicking on the date next to your edit information.

You should make all edits for content that you want to be considered on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Taylor Talk: The Taylor Swift Podcast instead. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:42, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

This username is more appropriate for the article I am creating, and the previous username was taken the wrong way and I had no intention of it being in any way, shape, or form of being used for promotional uses. I am not affiliated with any kind of organization and the purpose of this account was not meant for promoting any other organization either. In the future I will not be writing any edits promoting any organization whatsoever. It was a simple misunderstanding and my actions on wikipedia will be different in the future. I will be writing by a much more neutral point of view, so it will be clear that I am not bias on this topic.

Decline reason:

Your comments below suggest that your main purpose here will be to continue trying to create the article for this podcast, despite its submission being declined/deleted several times. If you hope to be unblocked, you'll need to indicate (in addition to your choice of new user name) what you plan to edit/create once you are unblocked and your user name is changed. only (talk) 23:06, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK, but consider this: Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 18:52, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would just like to say that my username is NOT representing any kind of group, organization, or agency. The only reason why my username has "agency" in it is because Taylor Swift's band is called The Agency, and my topic is Taylor Swift.

I do understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and the purpose of this article is to collect information and educate people about the wide variety of topics in podcasting. I do recall there are several other wikipedia articles about podcasts, and it is unclear to me and I do not understand why this particular podcast is getting declined. This article is certainly not used to promote this podcast. There are several social media accounts to promote the podcast, and this article does not intend to do so. If I were even able to edit my article, I would change the wording of certain sentences to make this article the most neutral view possible. This podcast is a non-profit, and there is no paid promoters involved with this organization whatsoever.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Swiftagency13 (talkcontribs)

Hello Swiftagency13. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Taylor Talk: The Taylor Swift Podcast".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 04:02, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
