Image source problem with Image:Puss in boots.png[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Puss in boots.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Jtalledo (talk) 00:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Live Messenger image[edit]

Are you sure it's a good idea to post an image which clearly shows your email address? Abc30 18:24, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've switched your template into a soft redirect in Press Room, because I feel we don't need any extra link templates into various Wikimedia pages. Was this ok? ~Iceshark7 14:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: The template is nice, and not inappropriate, but I would questionise the usefulness of it. Soft Redirects were usually made for situations just like this, for links to other wikis. Now compared to the style of Wikipedia, it's rare to approach onto templates like this, so I'm not sure if it fits the style as being a soft direct. If it does, categorizing it into Soft redirects sounds like ok, otherwise it should be left as an original soft redirect to avoid confusions. ~Iceshark7 17:48, 5 August 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Whereisthelove.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Whereisthelove.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 16:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Good idea[edit]

But maybe for the one after. There are good reasons to have it in the west, the t'othersiders would take some convincing :) Regards, Fred 18:04, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[Laugh] You are half way there :) Fred 18:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck - I don't think we'll convince the rest of Australia, but from an Asian perspective it would make a lot of sense to hold it here. Orderinchaos 00:12, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Love the idea, Perth would be a great place to hold Wikimania. Hossen27 03:16, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I really appreciate your enthusiasm and the thought you've put into this idea, but if Australia ever hosts Wikimania, it needs to be an Australian bid, not a Perth Wikiproject bid. Additionally, we have been discussing making a bid to host a Wikimania for some time now and Angela, a former board member who has been involved with previous Wikimanias, has proposed we think about 2010 and that we hold a practice event in the winter of 2008 to be sure that we have enough interested and committed people to actually host a Wikimania. This is also what Taipei did and they became the successful bidders for hosting this year's event. You are welcome to continue with your proposal but you should probably make sure that you have sufficient support from Australian editors, not just the Perth Wikiproject. I do appreciate your enthusiasm, though, and I hope that you'll be willing to help out when we hold Wikimania Australia (or whatever the trial event becomes) and then when the Australian Wikimedia community makes a bid to host the international Wikimania.Sarah 05:11, 11 August 2007 (UTC) Also, I don't know if you're aware of this research that Mark did last year when we were considering making a bid. Symode its an interesting concept but its need a lot of people on the ground to make it happen. Come to the meetup on the 19th I'll explain whats been happening in regards to the Australian plans for the bid, I've been part of the group working towards a bid. Gnangarra 05:22, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
withdraw invite to meetup, I forgot your age when writting this, though as Ali K said if you parents are with you then thats a different story Gnangarra 11:23, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just somehow think it is not going to happen. If I was to vote, I'd say absolutely not. Melbourne should host it, if not, then Sydney. Bigger city, more capable, more Wikipedians based there; the list could go on. Not to be discriminatory age wise, but I hardly think you should go to Wikimania, let alone the Wikimeetup as Gnangarra suggested. Unless with an adult of course. Maybe the reason for your suggestion was so you could go yourself and not have to fly somewhere? If so, some consideration needs to be put into place about where Wikimania would be more suited. And that would be my two cents worth! --Ali K 11:13, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
