Images from worldturkey.com[edit]

It is not OK to upload the images from worldturkey.com because of their license:

"You may only use these photos if you have a non-profit website and if this website is for promoting Turkey. Photos are (c) Copyright Quimedia."

That is against our policy in two accounts:

  1. Wikipedia does not accept images under a non-commercial license
  2. Wikipedia does not promote, nor is against any particular entity, so our website cannot promote Turkey.

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bebek istanbul.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. feydey 20:43, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wowturkey.com images[edit]

Uploaded images should have links to its excact location and if not on the same page a link to copyright notice. Thank you. P.S. "There are many other photos from wowturkey in Wikipedia" - doesn't mean that they are automatically accepted, if their copyright is not ok, then they have to be deleted. feydey 08:37, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Btw when we say "Copyrighted but free to use for any purpose", does it mean you can use it by not refering to photographer/site? No, as then it is impossible to verify the copyright claim i.e. it will be deleted. Always write where you got the photo. Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Free_licenses says: " {{Attribution}} - For images that require attribution. --> Deprecated: consider using {{cc-by-2.0}}, below, instead." Best, feydey 16:45, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. bluemask 13:14, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for informing. This image is released by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey. Published in many brochures and web sites, and there is no information about the author. I had grabbed this one from the tourismturkey.org site of the ministry. Unfortunately site has changed and photo is gone, but I was able to reach Google cache version of it.

By uploading their images to wowturkey.com, authors are allowing them to be used under wowturkey.com logo in anywhere in the web, freely. I am a member of that site, and authors are aware that their photos are used even if it is not a nessecity (agreed by all members and photographers of the site) (and I am not even asking for their permission, just informing, which is fairly welcomed, and accepted by all of them.) --System Halted 20:19, 24 March 2006 (UTC) Btw, is the tagging you used is OK? Then I would use it from now on, and replace any other existing ones. Thank you for informing. --System Halted 20:22, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

merhaba[edit]

I noticed you have uploaded many photos from http://www.wowturkey.com/. I wanted you to know that these photos are currently incompatible with GFDL as they are not under a free licence. wowturkey.com requires permission to be sought for commercial use of these images and might not allow the use of modified versions of the images. I've discussed with others about this problem at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey#Photos from wowturkey.com and User talk:A.Garnet#wowturkey.com and efforts are on to ask wowturkey.com to release (at least a few) images under a free license. You are also invited to talk to wowturkey.com if possible. From User:Feydey/Talk archive 2#Image Tagging Image:Bebek istanbul.jpg it looks like you are a member of wowturkey.com. If you have submitted photos copyrighted by you to wowturkey.com and want to use those in Wikipedia you can use any of the licences listed at WP:ICT#For image creators, and make it clear that the photo is copyrighted by you. Otherwise the images could be deleted depending on wowturkey.com's response to our request for releasing the images under a free licence. -- Paddu 06:07, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey#Photos from wowturkey.com and User:Paddu/wowturkey.com photo for more info.
BTW please don't tag images with Creative Commons "cc-*" licences as feydey advised above unless you hold the copyright for the image. For images copyrighted by others it is better to give the exact terms the copyright holder requires, which might be {{attribution}}. Note that WP:ICT#Free licenses has been updated to consider {{cc-by-2.0}} instead of {{attribution}} only if the image copyright holder is uploading the image. -- Paddu 06:18, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Ataturk_Airport_Istanbul_2.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Ataturk_Airport_Istanbul_2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:52, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ataturk_Airport_Istanbul.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:52, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Bilkent Ankara.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bilkent Ankara.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 18:30, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
