Welcome[edit]

By the looks of your user page you already know all this though.:) How long have you been editing Wikipedia?--Shanel 23:54, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've been lurking in the background for a while and making a few changes here and there for a year now. Just decided to get an account =) TDS (talkcontribs) 00:16, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SJR[edit]

The reason I made the changes are because some parts of the article are time dependent, "newly renovated" for example. Some don't have proof and are just designed to promote the school, "plethora of notable people".

Redirect[edit]

I've fixed the redirect for you. It didn't work because of the %27s in "John's. I replaced it with th apostrophe instead.--Shanel 00:37, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, so it was you that fixed that! Thank's very much for your help Shanel! TDS (talkcontribs) 00:37, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome :)--Shanel 23:07, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

debating[edit]

"Come back next year" means that during a year the forum will have a chance to grow and become notable mikka (t) 17:44, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok =) Thanks for the guidance so far, mikka. I'm just learning my ways around here. If I'm doing something wrong just drop me a line on my talk page TDS (talkcontribs) 17:46, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

Here's a barnstar for taking the deletion of High School Debating Forums so well. Keep on improving. It's so much more fun than lurking :) - Mgm|(talk) 18:19, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's my pleasure! Take a look around on other people's userpages. If you're going to contribute a lot, you're going to archive your talk page as well. It's a good idea to keep barnstars (with a short notice on who gave them and why) on your userpage for safe keeping and easy reference. - Mgm|(talk) 18:26, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Apologies. I thought you were much more of a newbie than you really are. - Mgm|(talk) 18:31, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's no problem =) I've been lurking here for a while on several different IPs and have kind of seen the way user pages work around here =) TDS (talkcontribs) 18:32, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • You can use the gallery-tags as done in the Signpost (Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2005-10-24/Features_and_admins) - Mgm|(talk) 18:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re: thanks for your support[edit]

No problem. :) I'm glad to see you aren't too upset and are keeping yourself busy. ♥♥purplefeltangel 20:51, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I consider myself an "inclusodeletionist". :) ♥♥purplefeltangel 00:20, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't. ;) It means I'm sick of AfD. ♥♥purplefeltangel 00:24, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Expo[edit]

Just wanted to say, cool work on the Apple Expo page, particularly the timeline. Something I've had on my mental todo list for ages. AlistairMcMillan 12:29, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for noticing =) TDS (talkcontribs) 17:30, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thank you for voting in my RfA, and especially thank you for supporting me. I really appreciate it, and will wield the mop and bucket the best way I know how. I, like RoboCop, promise four things:

  1. Serve the public trust
  2. Protect the innocent
  3. Uphold the law
  4. Classified

I hope to do all those things and, even if I can't keep my fourth classified, will do all I can to be a great admin. Stop by my talk page, or on article pages; I look forward to working with you. Thanks again, [[User:Mysekurity|Mysekurity]] [[additions | e-mail]] 23:22, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

I have been on Wikipedia for a while but never had much contact with the "administration" side (such as requests for deletion etc.)--anyway, i had always wondered how to properly "sign" a vote or what-have-you. Your post on my talk page mentioning the tildes will be very helpful from now on! - Daniel Pritchard 02:56, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Citation on Mac page[edit]

Hi TDS -- thanks for pointing that out. Since you seem to be a bit of a guru on the subject, could you put the citation in? I'm sure it's in the external links somewhere -- I just don't know where! Sdedeo 05:22, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thanks for your support vote on my RfA. As you may have noticed, I'm now an admin as of this morning. I appreciate your help bringing me here :) — Phil Welch 21:53, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article Improvement Drive deal:[edit]

Hi. I was wondering, could we strike some kind of deal? I would gladly support your entry on the Article Imrovement Drive, if you support my Dinosaur entry up above it. It would be mutually beneficial, don't you think? Mull it over if you will... Thanks. Spawn Man 06:41, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TDS,

I've adressed some of the easier opposes on the FAC - the ones concerning the fair use images. They were on my to-do list anyway, and I didn't know you'd take the article to FAC so soon - it was a bit hasty, maybe, but on the other hand there is always opposition. We can still pull this off. I'm not on the wiki very often at the moment, but I when I am I will try to work on the article some more. If you could start de-fluffing the history section (I guess breaking it out into Apple Macintosh history and putting in a condensed, say 50% length version of it back as per Michael Snow would be reasonable - Michaels other objections have merit too), that would be great. I'll join you again next week, when I have more time. -- grm_wnr Esc 02:48, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ianblair23's RfA[edit]

G'day TDS,

I would like to thank you for supporting me on my RfA. It closed with the final tally of 57/0/0. I can only hope I can live up to the expectations that this wonderful community of ours demands from each of its administrators. If you ever need anything, please just let me know. Cheers! -- Ianblair23 (talk) 07:20, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Black RfA[edit]

Thank you very much for your support of my RfA. Thanks, in part, to you, I am now an Administrator, and I pledge to use my newfound powers for good rather than evil. Thanks again!--Sean|Black 08:24, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back :) (In a few days, anyway).[edit]

I was just going to welcome you back. And I'm sorry, but I couldn't hide my Slavic roots. See ya around. --Pastor of Muppets 20:45, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back![edit]

Nice to see you back. As you can see above, a Macintosh WikiProject has been formed in the meantime, and Apple Macintosh is back at FAC. So, no shortage of things to do... Happy editing!  grm_wnr Esc 13:18, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising[edit]

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:27, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Dark Side of the Moon[edit]

I have come to canvass for your support on an issue that you have previously disagreed on. You removed "The" from "The Dark Side of the Moon" - I believe that "The" is part of the album title and would like you to vote in favour of the move. The Pink Floyd web page consistently includes "The", always capitalized. I have just noticed that "Of The" is (nearly) always capitalized as well - I have just gone through all the references to "Of The" and changed them to "of the", which also appears to be wrong, so there's another task for me to do. Not today though. — PhilHibbs | talk 15:55, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editor listings on different wikis?[edit]

Hi! Your script [1] makes a list of editors who have contributed to an article – that is, an article at en.wikipedia.org, because the script doesn't seem to take dbname as an argument (dbname is the argument used by Kate's and Interiot's edit counters [2], [3]). Could such an argument be added to your script to allow editor listings on different wikis? --Eddi (Talk) 23:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eddi - dbname is currently not an argument as you have noted. Before I took a wikibreak I was planning on adding this feature - now that I am back in full force, I am working on my toolserver projects again, and this is the top of my priority list. Thanks for your interest in my script. TDS (talkcontribs) 20:09, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah.[edit]

Mmm, Tim be active? I'm in computer class. Sure, I'll look over it, but I don't know too much about the history of SJR and such. _-M o P-_ 16:15, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think he was trying to de-POV it. _-M o P-_ 00:02, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism[edit]

as you can see, i was trying to revert the same vandal as you! due to you reverting before me i reverted to the vandalised version. that one was done by 24.125.204.116, and the vandal was not me, evidently the same thing happened due to Tawkerbot2 editing at the same time as me.

ok... in all 3 examples that you gave, all of them were due to one user editing before i loaded the page and me getting a lagged version. when i rv i pressed edit and reverted to the older page. So that is all i did. i will stop reverting pages evidently since my lagged connection is causing all this misunderstanding. Full stop.

Contribution Counter for Ron Rash[edit]

I just tried to run the tool and got zero contributions. Is that because it's a fairly new article or is something malfunctioning? Thanks,--Beth Wellington 00:27, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explaination. Even with the delay, it's a nifty tool.--Beth Wellington 00:51, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, TDS, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in April, we will keep you updated about the results. Because you are a new member, you are not able to vote in these elections, but you will be more than welcome to take part in the elections in June.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC Tutorial written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
