Quick note on username[edit]

Hi! Thank you for your nice note to me, at my Talk page, relating to my work along with User:Bohemian Gal on the Church of the Creator article and related redirects. I replied there, please see my reply at User talk:Doncram#Thanks. (or if that link doesn't work, try this permanent link to my reply there). I'm writing this quick note here just to let you know, that your chosen username is not fully proper by Wikipedia guidelines; you're not supposed to use an organization's name, i think perhaps because it implies multiple persons might edit under the name, and not be individually accountable. You're welcome to use any made-up name not relating to your own name or your organization, and you're also welcome to use a name that relates to your own personal name, and you're also welcome to use a name that implies you are one specific person of the organization (e.g. something like JG-at-TeTaMa would be fine I guess). But if you use this account name as it is now and edit the Church of the Creator article, it's possible some administrator will get all upset. This account could be blocked, in fact. I wouldn't think that is necessary, but as you know from watching Bohemian Gal's nice efforts, it's hard to get started in Wikipedia as there are lots of rules you can't know about in advance, and a lot of maybe-too-eager enforcers. :( Anyhow, welcome again. Feel free to contact me at my Talk page any time, though I will put this Talk page on my Watchlist, too!

If you'd like to edit in Wikipedia, it would be best to change this username. Wikipedia:Username policy is the official policy. It has a section on "Usernames implying shared use", I see. And there is a section on "Changing your username", specifically at Wikipedia:Username policy#Changing your username. Since you have made only one or a few edits so far, it looks like they could either change it to a new preferred name for you, or they could want you to open a new account with a name meeting policy requirements, and drop use of this account, or perhaps even request that this account be closed.

cheers, --doncram 23:56, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TO ANYONE ELSE, don't give this user any unnecessary grief! Be nice! There's no inappropriate editing going on! The person involved has already experienced a lot of grief over more than a year, unfortunately. Contact me if you need more info. --doncram 23:56, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Unnecessary block. Read the above. I read the policy on usernames and it is NOT required for the account to be blocked. Someone stepping in and just blocking, in response to the above warning by me to the account, is just mean. Way to go, driving people away, conveying total control-freakishness on the part of Wikipedia. I suggested that anyone else could contact me; they did not. The organization represented by the person opening this account has in fact been abused by Wikipedia for more than a year now, by an obtuse near-conspiracy to link their name to a racist white suprematist organization. Way to go, Wikipedia, to foist injustice and to further it now by an abusive block. Great. Well, formmally on behalf of the account-holder, i ask for the block to be lifted so the person could take a breath and maybe respond. There has been NO abuse in any way by the account; it made one polite, nice edit at a user Talk page, mine. --doncram 05:56, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You need to change your username to a name that is unconnected to an organisation, so for your next unblock request you should use the text:
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}

Hope this is ok. Kindest, PhilKnight (talk) 10:57, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
