Removal of Qing Dynasty empress dowager category[edit]

  • Hi, I was wondering why you removed the category "Qing Dynasty empress dowagers" and removed the subcategories as well? The category makes sense, and I had it setup as a subcategory of "Qing Dynasty empresses"; if you disapprove of the category, you should also submit the category for deletion, instead of just removing the subcategories--Confuzion 03:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, The main reason I setup the Category was because it was a separate title (太后), that superceded the title of Empress (皇后) - the category was created to differentiate people who held the title of Empress Dowager, as opposed to identifying widows of emperors; however, all members of the Category:Empress dowagers are still members of the Category:Empress (so all members of the category are members of both Empress dowagers and Empress, so it's not much of an added complication, imo). The reason I had made the category was because there are many articles that do fit into the Category:Empress dowagers (in the Han and Qing Dynasty, especially). The title of Empress dowager is different, and it also often came with increased power (minus a few cases and post-humous assessments). I don't think the additional category causes any confusion, and some people might find it to be useful. If you want to remove the category, you should place the Category at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion, instead of just removing the subcategories; otherwise, I plan to restore the category in a few days--Confuzion 03:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there[edit]

Take it easy! If you are not Highshines, then I offer my apologies. You were editing very similar pages and for a while it looked like you were working in tandem, so I tagged you long ago. The fact that no one other than Highshines challenged the tag made it look even more suspicious. Anyway, I think you have convinced me and we can put the matter to rest.--Niohe 23:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

help wanted[edit]

I need your help. I am a new member of wikipeida. I find the article of "Tibet" or "history of tibet" in wikipeida is very biased towards pro-independent Tibetans. I have strong evidence to prove what I said. I made some edit and added some important facts. However, they are deleted. The problem is: I am not familiar with the rules of wikipeida and I probable won't have time to get familiar with it. So, I need your help so that truth can be known by people. You can find my deleted versions in the history of that topic. The main source of my information is in the following. This is probably the most complete and detailed information source on the Tibet issue. But it is not listed in the reference list of Tibet page yet. I remember the content of this website is from Chinese government’s white paper on Tibet issue. If you go to the official website of Tibetan in exiles, you will find that although they are very unhappy with these information. They could not point out any major problems about these facts. It would be better if you can have a quick look of this website and add whatever information you want.

"The historical status of tibet", by China internet information center. It cab be found at the website of:

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/historical_status/english/index.html

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/indexE.html

Many thanks.

Request[edit]

Hello, User:TYK1986. I have noticed from your talk page that you are a fan of or have an interest in The Smurfs series. There is currently a discussion concerning the merging of all individual articles on Smurf video games into one bigger article. I do not believe that any of the editors involved in the discussion (myself included) know much about the games and I was hoping you could provide us with the benefit of your opinion as an editor knowledgeable about the subject. If you are not interested in helping or if you believe yourself incapable at this time then please disregard this message. The discussion is currently under way here. Thanks for your time. -Thibbs (talk) 21:14, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:08, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
