Instructor wanted[edit]

Did you want someone in person, and if so where are you located? or were you thinking of instruction over the telephone? DES (talk) 18:07, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2 questions[edit]

Thank you very much for your response. I live in mid Jersey. Before I ask for personal instructor, let me ask you two questions:

1) I just created/edited an article, pre-viewed it and saved it. However, upon saving, it is gone and I cannot see it let alone being able to further edit it.

2) I need a simple step-by-step instruction on how to add a picture (png image) that I have on my computer to my article in Wikipedia?

Thanks and regards, Taghzieh

I live in the area of Princeton, NJ. DES (talk) 21:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
1) Apparently you never saved it, as it is not listed in your contributions nor your deleted contributions. DES (talk) 21:35, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
2) follow these steps:
  1. Go to Wikipedia:Upload
  2. Pick one of the likes for type of file, for exmapler the "My own work" link if you created the iamge.
  3. Click the brows button and navigate to the image on your computer
  4. Change the destination file name to something meaningful
  5. Fill in the fields on the preloaded summery
  6. Click the licensing dropdown and select an appropriate license, such as cc-by-sa 3.0
  7. Click "Upload file"
I hope this helps. You can use the 'email this user" function on User talk:DESiegel to contact me directly if you wish. DES (talk) 21:48, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prefer Personal Instruction[edit]

Dear Mr. Siegel, Thanks for your help. Fortunately, I live in Princeton too. I prefer to create/edit a short article with 2 images (png) from the article I have already prepared on my computer, under your personal supervision. I will be more effective and less frustrated in this way. I assume this should not take more than one hour. I will be happy to pay a reasonable fee for your services. If possible and interested, please let me know how this could be done. Thanks, Taghzieh

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:EmailUser/DESiegel&action=view and fill in the form with your email or phone number or other contact info. It is best not to post contact info on wikipedia -- it is too public. DES (talk) 00:36, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recording copyright permission[edit]

It is important that you, or an appropriate responsible person, send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org saying something like:

"I created the image that has been uploaded as File:Dr. Hedayat.JPG myself. I agree to release it under a free license. i understand that it can be reused or modified by anyone for any purpose under this license, provided the source is acknowledged and the same license is granted to others." This will document for their records that the person who created the image (picture) has released the rights in it. Once the email has been sent, you or I will place {{OTRS pending}} on [:File talk:Dr. Hedayat.JPG]] to record that the email is being processed. Thank you. DES (talk) 17:33, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
