Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Techsenmonka. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:34, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @C.Fred, I'm not paid to edit the wikipedia. it was just handed to me monitor it. my professional relationship with ACS Jakarta is that I work there as a teacher. I did not start the page. the page was being "vandalized" by students in the past. my boss practically said it was a part of my job to monitor the page. my question is, since now, i know that it is a conflict of interest, is it possible to just delete the page? Techsenmonka (talk) 16:51, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If monitoring it is part of your professional duties, then you are a paid editor. By disclosing here the nature of your job duties at the page, you are in compliance with the paid-editor rules.
It's a fact of life with schools: their pages get vandalized. Students at the school or rival schools think it's amusing to put all sorts of untrue, ridiculous things on school pages. Nobody will argue if you see obvious vandalism and revert it. (I don't see any such edits in your history, or I'd point one out.)
As for deleting the page, secondary and post-secondary schools are presumed to be notable. Since ACS Jakarta serves up to age 18, it would be in that category. The question becomes whether there is enough independent coverage to keep a separate article or redirect to the ACS article. However, even if the page were redirected, the history would be retained. —C.Fred (talk) 16:58, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
