June 2016[edit]

Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Terrance Dean  with this edit, without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 07:45, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

You did find that BLP and remove it fifteen minutes after it was added. You can wp:watch a page and under preferences setup an email account and check the Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changed box and you will get a notification when someone changes the page.

If the page gets vandalized by that IP again, s/he might find their IP wp:blocked rather quickly. It appears someone else is watching that page as their edit was wp:revision deleted. If the IP address changes wp:page protection can be used. A bit of vandalism here and there would generally not justify adding PP.

Be careful about making the article too promotional. If someone decides that is the case, it may be heavily edited.

Please consider using a {{cite book}} and perhaps put it into a "selected bibliography" section. Avoid listing every publication. Fill in the "|ISBN=" field. This will allow one to find your books on Amazon, B&N, and other booksellers. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:26, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This information is typically added to those in conflict of interest[edit]

Did you see the additions added to my talk page by two wp:administrators? user talk:Jim1138#Malicious_attacks_again_on_the_Wikipedia_page

Related to your Conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Terrancedean37212. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 18:39, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable edits on Terrance Dean[edit]

Would you please give me more information as to what the problem is? I asked Oshwah, an wp:admin to look into this as I am rather fried at this point. Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 23:30, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Terrance Dean article[edit]

This section need references. I added on for the Huffington Post, but others need sources. Would you please provide?

Dean is a contributing writer to the anthologies, Souls of My Brothers and Always Too Soon. He has also written for VIBE, ESSENCE, XXL, Hello Beautiful, Bossip.com, Juicy Magazine, Huffington Post,[1] The Advocate, The New York Sun, The Tennessean, Fatherhood Today, and The Michigan Chronicle’s Front Page.

Dean has been featured in Newsweek, Ms. Magazine, Time magazine, New York Magazine, The Observer UK, Genre, VIBE, Hip Hop Weekly, Juicy magazine, Toronto NOW, AOL Black Voices, XXL.com, Bossip.com, Mediatakeout.com, Sister2Sister magazine, and Essence magazine. He has also appeared across the country, and internationally, on popular syndicated radio shows – NPR, The BBC, Frank & Wanda Morning Show, The Michael Eric Dyson Show, Russ Par, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, and The Wendy Williams Experience. He has made national television appearances on Fox’s The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, and Fox’s Red Eye, CNN’s Headline News, NBC 10 Philadelphia, ABC 6 Philadelphia, WB 11 New York, and FOX 2 in Detroit.

In addition to writing, Dean has worked in the entertainment industry for over 15 years with industry professionals including Spike Lee, Rob Reiner, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Anjelica Huston. He has worked with television and film production companies such as B.E.T., Savoy Television, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Sony Pictures. Dean also worked with MTV Networks for several years helping to produce live award shows and events including MTV Video Music Awards, Movie Awards, Hip Hop Honors, Rock Honors, Sports & Music Festival, and Choose or Lose.

The following two need the name of chapter you contributed. Add via template:cite book

  • Souls of My Brothers
  • Always Too Soon

The following need a source, preferably link via template:cite web or template:cite journal

The following need a source supporting that you worked with:

The paragraph "Dean has been featured in..." is this someone else talking about / interviewing you? Or should it be a part the "Dean is a contributing writer" section?

This needs to be wp:referenced per wp:verifiability (WP:V) or removed. The source needs to meet wp:reliable sources (please read). Someone will sooner or later come through and remove all non-referenced information. Magazines should have issue, date, and page. If there is a author page, such as my reference to Huffington, please supply that. Also, the list is rather long and trimming might be needed. AKA wp:Coatrack articles. I added some referencing help below the welcome block above.

The notability tag at the top of the Terrance Dean article needs to be addressed. Does your article meet wp:notability (people) or it may face a wp:AfD and be deleted.

Also, the advert tag as well. See wp:Manual of Style/Biographies and wp:biographies of living persons

Conflict of interest[edit]

Please re-read the information posted above regarding Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline. You've been asked not to edit the article about yourself, but rather to propose any changes on the talk page (Talk:Terrance Dean). Wikipedia cannot be used for self-promotion and only publishes what independent reliable sources have said about a person. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 18:47, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

April 2022[edit]

I see you've been informed previously concerning editing articles with which you have a close association. I also see that those previous conversations have not had any effect towards your editing against the guideline. To avoid jeopardizing your editing privilege please take your concerns regarding content to the article talk page. Remember that you will need a reliable sources to support changes you want made. I addressed the format problem you introduced with your edit. Tiderolls 15:44, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
