December 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello Tesla400. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Brian Sheng. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Information icon Hi Tesla400. We appreciate your enthusiasm but please refrain from tagging articles for now – some maintenance tasks are not suitable for beginners. New Page Review requires significant experience, which you don't have yet. However, if you have already made at least 200 mainspace edits, you can enroll at the Counter Vandalism Academy to learn about keeping pages free of nonsense. Consider doing recent changes patrol for vandalism instead. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:31, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kudpung: I already found CVU - see DatGuy's talk for more details. By tagging, I assume you mean WP:CSD? Tesla (talk) 03:06, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Any kind of maintenance work on Wikipedia is a 'no-go' area for new users. The best experience is gained by contributing new content. You can't even enroll at WP:CVU/A until you have at least 200 mainspace edits - and that means adding content an/or sources to articles. As requested, and to save you any embarrassment here, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. I don't want to have to surf around the talk pages to find what you ave been discussing with other users.Thank you. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:23, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
