Flooding?

Hey! Out of curiosity, what does flooding mean? I figured out earlier indiscriminate thanking was maybe not the best idea, so I'll abstain from stumbling into the same mistakes.-🐦Do☭torWho42 () 08:56, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

@DoctorWho42: I ran across your prior mass posting of talk page messages while reviewing the edit log, and misreading the timestamps, assumed that you were still currently flooding (in the sense of a large number or quantity of anything appearing more rapidly than can easily be dealt with), so I placed a warning on your talk page. I then realised you had stopped many days ago, so I immediately reverted the talk page warning. Sorry about that. In the future, please make requests for bulk mailings at the correct venue so that they can be sanity checked before being sent. TheDragonFire (talk) 13:58, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Blanking userpages from banned users

Please don't take it upon yourself to blank userpages from banned users. It smacks of gravedancing, and is unnecessary. The userpage was already tagged so he would be put in the proper category. Removing the rest of the userpage, however, is gratuitous. --Jayron32 13:14, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

@Jayron32: My understanding was there is a policy basis for this, but looking now, it isn't at Wikipedia:Banning policy § User pages where I thought it was. I definitely read some discussion about the same issue when SwisterTwister was blocked, but it may have been on IRC because I can't find it. In light of that, I'm happy to let sleeping dogs lie.
