Sorry for taking so long to get started on this one - too many other bits got in the way first. I'll work on chunks in my sandbox first and leave some comments for clarification, as well as tweaking the text. I've got a couple of points for you to look at (see here, and I should have gone through this section fully very shortly. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 11:02, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

@SchroCat: Hi there, not to worry. I understand. I have also been quite busy. I will get back to you on the suggested changes ASAP but so far they look good and you have brought up some good points. Thank you! --TheSandDoctor (talk) 16:35, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Request on 11:58:19, 2 October 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by JP1308

Hi, I am so sorry the submission was an accident. How can I fix this? Thank you and kind regards JP1308 (talk) 11:58, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

@JP1308: I went ahead and added it to User:JP1308/:Userboxes for you as it appeared that that is where you may have wanted it. If you want it elsewhere I will happily move it for you. I also went ahead and blanked your sandbox as well as removed the related declination notice from your talk page, hope that is okay. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 15:47, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
@TheSandDoctor: Thank you very much! :-) JP1308 (talk) 14:26, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi TheSandDoctor, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Alex ShihTalk 16:26, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve Wandering Spirit (Mick Jagger song)

Hi, I'm Mz7. TheSandDoctor, thanks for creating Wandering Spirit (Mick Jagger song)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Per WP:NSONG, a song isn't notable solely because it was the lead single off a successful album. There needs to independent, individualized attention specific to this song in reliable sources (e.g. singles charts, song reviews) to establish notability independent to the album. If such sources can't be found, consider merging the information to the album article instead.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

A page you started (Lucky in Love (Mick Jagger song)) has been reviewed!

Thanks for creating Lucky in Love (Mick Jagger song), TheSandDoctor!

Wikipedia editor Mz7 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Try to find sources to verify the chart performances and add reviews that specifically discuss the song (also per WP:NSONG).

DYK for The Rolling Stones

On 9 October 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Rolling Stones, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that The Rolling Stones are a British rock band? Okay, you probably did... The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Rolling Stones. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Rolling Stones), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Looks as if it's been dealt with for now. If you think it should be protected, let me know or file a RFPP. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:13, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. Will keep an eye on it, it does appear to have been the target of a lot of unsourced material addition and image copyvios this year, and a lot in October, maybe protection would be a good idea? I have no clue off hand how long for though Kudpung. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 15:17, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Mick Jagger

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Mick Jagger has been completed.

I took the liberty of adding pertinent personal information to the lede which seemed to me to be a glaring omision.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Good luck with the FA nomination.

Regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:11, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

@Twofingered Typist: Thanks! Do you think the article is in good enough shape for FAN? --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:12, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
@TheSandDoctor: Here are the guidelines https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_article_criteria I think it is worth submitting for consideration. You're never going to know until a reviewer picks it up. For example, I added details about the Stones first two No. 1 UK singles because when I read this sentence - "For the Rolling Stones, the duo would write "The Last Time", the group's third No. 1 single in the UK" - I wanted to know what Nos. 1 & 2 were without having to go looking for the information. A reviewer might say this is too "Stones-specific" and recommend it be removed. Who knows? Give it a try. Good luck. Twofingered Typist (talk) 11:53, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Tweetbot

Just a thought: Before you get too far down the road with your bot proposal, you might want to look at WP:CORPNAME and https://tapbots.com/tweetbot/mac/ and consider whether your proposed user name might be construed as too close to the name of this corporate product. A user name like "SandBot", with this tweet task filed as Task 1, might be more neutral and also future-proof. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:42, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

@Jonesey95: I did not know about that app, thank you for bringing this to my attention. xaosflux could you please change the name of TweetBot to SandBot? --TheSandDoctor (talk) 16:47, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Halloween cheer!

help / question (per your reaching out)

to whom this may concern:

you recently replied in regards to my page not being accepted, due to "not enough references" (if my memory serves me). I can/will provide more references on said page and will hope/trust that'll be enough to get it published. that said...

i created the page in question on behalf of my employer, Ronald Winston, who happens to be the son of Harry_Winston of Harry Winston, Inc.. For reasons unbeknownst to both Ronald and myself, his once (and already) published page was recently removed. Might you know why?

And given that the very same information I recently entered and attempted to get approved was already/once published, it seemed strange to us that we got the feedback you noted - i.e. not enough references - as Ronald is also referenced in two other pages currently in Wikipedia: Harry_Winston and Harry Winston, Inc.... which I'd like to believe would grant Mr. Winston (Ronald) a certain credence?

many thanks, in advance, for your help in both re-publishing Ronald Winston's page and/or getting to the bottom of why Mr. Winston's page was recently removed.

Sincerely,

- Michael (RWinston (talk) 22:26, 29 October 2017 (UTC))
@RWinston: Per the English Wikipedia Conflict of Interest behavioral guideline, I would caution against writing such an article yourself due to the potential for a conflict of interest. On to your questions, while I cannot answer exactly as to why it was deleted I am not an administrator and cannot view the deleted content of the page (nor was the one to delete it), the deletion rationale left by Doc James was "G5,11,TOU". "G5" meaning that the page was created by a "banned or blocked user[...] in violation of their ban or block", and "11" referring to G11, meaning that the content of the page was "[u]nambiguous advertising or promotion". ("TOU" appears to stand for "Terms Of Use".)
Also, references have to be included within the article/draft itself, if references exist in another article that back up the content of the draft, then by all means add them, I just ask that you review the guide to reliable sources as well as this helpful "Getting Started" guide to Wikipedia and WP:COI. I have pinged the administrator (meaning they will get a notification, just like you probably did that brought you back to this page) who deleted the article I believe you are referring to (Ronald H. Winston) so that they can add anything here if they wish. If I did not answer your questions satisfactorily (keeping in mind that it is technically impossible for me to review the deleted edits as my account does not have the relevant permissions), please do let me know. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 22:50, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
The person you hired to write your page did not disclose that you had hired them and therefore the page was deleted. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:58, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
