Greetings and salutations from Vegas quick question

Sorry to baldly ask in plain terms the easiest online reference to learn C++ language for programming. Cheers! Earl E. Smith (talk) 11:38, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

@Earl E. Smith: There are tons of resources out there (both paid and free; Google is your best friend). I am not sure what would be the best, other than possibly formal education (ie post-secondary). --TheSandDoctor (talk) 20:21, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, --TheSandDoctor!

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello TheSandDoctor/Archives/2018, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

Sanddoctor please read

Hey with with reference to Bishow Gautam, the samefamous admin who deleted the original article asked me to write a new one and post in submission. The precious article was pure promotional and all copied through websites. Talking about references, I am working on it. Talking about notability, this guy appears almost every week in newspapers in our country. Even huffpost gas articles about him. The previous guy didn't work n it properly. I have been working on it for 2 days. Please dont decline it Ktmstreetrider (talk) 05:30, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

@Ktmstreetrider: I replied on your talk page. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 05:50, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Bishow gautam

Hey sandbox. I have added lots of references and sources for the article of bishwo gautam. These sources come from national newspapers and one from international huffingpost. Ktmstreetrider (talk) 13:28, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

photo sizing issue

TheSandDoctor, I'm relatively new to Wikipedia editing. I recently made an addition to a Wiki page called "List of People From Chicago" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_Chicago?wteswitched=1 ). I added an entry for a famous Chicago writer named Ring Lardner in the "Authors and Writers" section. Everything seemed to be going great, except when I added a photo. It seemed to be really big, and didn't match the size of all the other thumbnails. I used the Wikipedia "media browser" within the editing function, and selected an approved photo from the Ring Lardner Wikipedia page. I assumed that the photo would automatically be formatted for the small space within the table, but it didn't. Can you take a look at the entry I made and make a suggestion on what I can do to fix the photo so that it formats as a small thumbnail within that table view?

Any help you can give is appreciated, thanks! MrGernBlanston (talk) 21:17, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

@MrGernBlanston: I responded on Oshwah's talk page, let's keep this discussion over there. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 21:21, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

edit on sandbox

hello! I am new to wikipedia, I have just started by learning through "The wikipedia adventure". Yet, I dont get how to use the sandbox? I am currently working on editing an article, so shall I copy-paste the whole article with editing? or just paste the paragraph and the name of the article I am working on? Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taghrid.ahd (talkcontribs) 00:40, 23 February 2018 (UTC) Taghrid.ahd (talk) 00:46, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Taghrid.ahd and welcome to Wikipedia! The sandbox is where you can practice editing and experiment with article changes or start to write articles in. Wikipedia:About the Sandbox contains more information about the sandbox. By "editing an article" you mean an existing one I assume? I would copy the section(s) that you will be working with into your sandbox if you wish to experiment. The Wikipedia Adventure is a good place to start. If you would like more resources, Help:Getting started might also be of use and the editors at the Teahouse are always willing to help (as am I). If I didn't answer your question or you have any others/wish for any clarification, please do let me know. Thank you for asking and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy it and, as we say, happy editing! --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:46, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi SandDoctor! Thank you a lot for assistance! indeed, I am working on editing an already existing article. I have just added few paragraphs in my sandbox1 Taghrid.ahd (talk) 14:41, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Reverting

If you're going to spend your time on wikipedia solely hitting the revert button, perhaps you could at least take the time to look at that which you are reverting? 178.16.1.226 (talk) 06:43, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

@178.16.1.226: I owe you an apology. I initially perceived the change that added "no changes" to the page as a test-edit or possible vandalism and reverted accordingly (sadly, vandalism is a common occurrence, but thankfully there is usually at least a few patrolling for it at a time, along with CluebotNG). Reverting vandalism is just something that needs to be done, and unfortunately, sometimes legitimate edits get caught in the crosshairs. I apologize for misinterpreting your edit as a test-edit/vandalism, after further inspection I can now see that it clearly was not. -- All the best, TheSandDoctor (talk) 07:19, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

trolling

Not sure if this edit was in good faith or work of a troll. usernamekiran(talk) 20:44, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi there usernamekiran, you might be right, but when in any doubt, assume AGF. The edit wasn't exactly contructive, but I would prefer to give the benefit of the doubt and reverted as such (AGF). If it had happened again, I probably would have reverted normally using huggle (if memory serves, I discovered that edit via huggle but opened in browser to get better context & reverted there) & warned the IP accordingly. I hope that that helps explain my actions more. If you have any questions, please do let me know. -- All the best, TheSandDoctor (talk) 22:39, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
