The article The Messenger (2018 video game) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:The Messenger (2018 video game) for comments about the article, and Talk:The Messenger (2018 video game)/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. There is a mop reserved in your name

You are a remarkable editor in many ways. You would be a good administrator, in my opinion, and appear to be well qualified. You personify an administrator without tools and have gained my support already!

Maliner (talk) 17:07, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

  • 2 years, >10k edits, frequent NPP reviewer with a CSD log full of red links, good contributions to noticeboards, helps out with page moves, welcoming to newcomers even when they're difficult (e.g. the thread below), and you write good content. You're already doing all the work of an admin, so any idea when are you going to ask for the tools to do it all faster ;) Wug·a·po·des 20:03, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you Scorpions. It's been a wonder to do so many things in the the time that I've been on Wikipedia, and I'm still glad to that you're still here. Hang in there! RFA is definitely stressful experience. I think you will do fine. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 02:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
@0xDeadbeef: To be honest, I was unlucky enough to not participate in your RFA. But I personally believe that you're one of the luckiest individuals in this universe. ☺️ Maliner (talk) 11:43, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Roaaar!!

I don't know you but I hope you like kittens. It's clear you deserve something nice. Whether or not your RfA succeeds, your contributions to this project are seen and appreciated. Hang in there! Generalrelative (talk) 02:32, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

  • Sorry about all the stress. I doubt it's much comfort, but fwiw more than a few admins have had to endure a brutal RFA. By time they closed mine, I needed a blood transfusion. Somebody, I no longer remember who, told me that rough RfA makes better admins. That sounded a little too similar to "poverty builds character" for my taste. Anyways, stand tall. For good or ill it will be over soon enough. If you find yourself in need of a few words of inspiration, see this. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Jumping into this thread to add another "hang in there". I'm dismayed to see that someone suggested - almost demanded, honestly - that you withdraw. If you decide you want to end it early, I hope it isn't because of comments like that. You've got 100+ people standing for you. -- asilvering (talk) 18:20, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

I'm arguing for ya and am in complete support! Someone will probably give you one of those crappy admin shirts before me but I'll give you a second one if that's the case. Panini! 🥪 02:38, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Advice

You seem conflicted on how to respond to the situation at your RFA. Just note that any future attempts by you to rectify the situation will be used against you no matter how good it is. I would advise against commenting about the apology until the RFA is over. Scorpions1325 (talk) 22:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

That sucked, but now it's over

The best way to deal with opposes (in the wake of what to me seemed like a puzzling pile-on over a single fairly minor incident) is to take a bit of time away to get yourself back into a better state of mind, and then treat them as feedback, which is always a gift even when it smarts. Best wishes to you. Valereee (talk) 02:25, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. We All Are Not Perfect

Since I have been discouraged by negative feedback again by a user, I have made one similar to your essay. GabrielPenn4223 (talk) 13:44, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GabrielPenn4223/We_All_Are_Not_Perfect My essay is here. GabrielPenn4223 (talk) 13:58, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
This user is now permanently banned. They likely were letting you know because your essay was linked at my own User:Panini!/We All Make Mistakes, which inspired them to make the page. Panini! 🥪 22:05, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Also, I have now unlinked your essay as it seems you have blanked it, but I want you to know I think it's perfectly fine to keep it there! While the higher-ups may think it's all blown out of proportion I think it's a great tool for those who are new and still getting into the swing of things. It's a great reminder that even the best of the best make mistakes, and they're bound to happen. Panini! 🥪 22:05, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from LaFlorida4522 on Southwest Florida (01:50, 16 February 2024)

A barnstar for you!

The Resilient Barnstar
This RfA process is broken. Each individual oppose/support is reasonable on their own, but the collective pile-on effect is not ideal and scales this proportion, including your need to expand on your apology. The vast majority of editors recognize your qualification for adminship. The opposers' rationales are thoughtful, and I am confident you will take their feedback. Sadly it is also necessary to say this, but I would avoid engaging with this post or any other comments about the topic, but wanted you to at least acknowledge the stress you're going through, and encourage you to stay resilient and stick with this. Cheers! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 23:03, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from Iceypurple (10:22, 21 February 2024)

How do you add the boxes on your profile like “This user is…”? Thank you! --Iceypurple (talk) 10:22, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi there @Iceypurple. I assume you are talking about Userboxes? A gallery of userboxes is located here and you can copy the boxes to your page by copying and pasting pasting the templates linked on the gallery to add the boxes to your page. For example, you could copy and paste {{User stat}} to show that you are an expert in sports statistics. The Night Watch (talk) 14:21, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
