Thank you. I will set my computer to alert me when I'm not adding a summary. Basketballone10 22:45, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Registering

I am the user that tried to register as Suic but whose name was too similar to Sulc...anyway I posted this on the request account page but that is probably not the best place for it. This was my question: I was looking at this page again and decided to look at the ip history and noticed a ton of edits which didn't make any sense. Evidently it is because I am on a University network in which one ip represents many people. I was wondering if it would be best for me to wait until I am on my home network so that I do not have these vandalisms on my record starting out... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.18.119.86 (talk) 12:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for the speedy reply. I just wanted to be sure that my reputation wouldn't be severely blemished (because of the irresponsible actions of others in the past) before I even got started out in the wikipedia community. Though I may never become an important figure, I want to at least not be unfairly criticized by others. Thanks again: 130.18.119.86/Suic(hopefully :) ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.18.119.86 (talk) 12:47, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've got a question

hi I'm Smart Guy (talk) 19:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC) you recently welcomed me to wikipedia and I was wondering if you could answer a question for me:[reply]

How do you format your user page in the way you do?

Smart Guy (talk) 19:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Navigation Box Please

If it isn't too much to ask could you either add a navigation box to my user page or post the code on my talk page for me to copy and paste

Thanks:)

Smart Guy (talk) 20:03, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like the first one please

I tried to copy and paste the code byt when I click the links it brings me to your home page, talk page, etc. If you could fix that for me I would greatly appreciate it:)

I recently added a welcome template to a new user's talk page a little while later a user named Party posted a message on my talk page complaining about my welcome being nonconstructive What should I do? Smart Guy (talk) 21:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Hmm...yeah, I can see what you're saying. I don't think it was actually vandalism, but it sure looked like that. You were basically restoring a comment that was blatant vandalism after someone else had removed it. Probably just an oversight. No worries. Gromlakh (talk) 21:54, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What does Party mean by monobook.js?

Dear Mr. Helpfulone, I applaud your help! You seem to help alot! Nice sidebar on the right of your page. My favorite one is "Vandals don't like this user"... XD Mostly I thank you for your help on an article (This is Wikipedia, people! There's not supposed to be subjects not covered here!) of my fav. movie: Hangman's Curse. I have blocked this user for 78 hours and change. In doing so, I accidentally rolled back one of your rollbacks of the IP's edit. So, I rolled myself back, and all is well - but, wanted to let you know that this IP, at least for now, is handled. Vandalization warning

I apologize for my error. I work for the company that Robert R. Blake founded in 1961 with Jane S. Mouton. I have worked for the company since 1992 and the first six years directly with Dr. Blake. I was trying to update the very thin and not completely accurate bio on him and explanation of Grid theory. I thought I was following all of the steps needed to add content, but obviously missed something!

I have a great deal of content regarding Blake and Mouton's work and the history of Grid OD. Any help that you can give me on the proper way to go about this would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be blocked!

not sure my talk page was vandalized

Thanks for the vigilance, but the quote "Sagbliss won her case" probably was not vandalism. There was a particularly obnoxious editor called Sagbliss who later identified herself as a participant in a laswsuit mentioned in a wikipedia article. Bruno23 (talk) 02:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this was NOT vandalism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbian_Ministry_of_the_Interior?diff=190008659 this edit was not vandalism. I've learnt my lesson..but...

Hi again, I feel really bad about vandalising your page, as I would ask you if I could anyway. But I don't know why, but everyone's being hostile with me because maybe I didn't do little bit in an edit. Also, I thought it would be good if I brought in the Adopt-a-user programme for newer users on Simple English Wikipedia, but as soon as I made it, it was deleted 'because it was pointless'. I feel useless and a vandal. Please help!LB22 (talk) 19:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

??

Yes, I see that, but that doesn't tell me why other people are being horrible to me here either. You were nice enough to say that's ok, you meant good, but there are other people here that are making me feel that I should go home back to Wikia. I feel like I'm useless.LB22 (talk) 19:19, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

Hi, thanks for the help with the rename pages. Could you down a little on the archiving though - its usually a good idea for requests to hang around for a day or two so people can check the outcome easily (especially if they're declined). Generally VoABot is quite good at doing the archiving (though its making a couple of mistakes at the moment that I've pointed out to Voice of All) so it shouldn't be something you need to worry about too much. Unblock requests

Hello, I'm sure you meant well, but I think it's not a good idea for a non-admin to go and try to decide unblock cases. Only an admin can unblock a user, so logically only an admin can refuse to unblock them. Of course, you are free to comment on such cases. Let me also say that I don't find your rationale very cogent: on the principle that blocks are preventative, not punitive, there might very well be cases where a block could legitimately be lifted early even after a very clear case of personal attacks - it all depends on the credibility of a user's commitment to behave better. That said, in this case, I'd be surprised if somebody unblocked, but that's a different matter, and I've reinstated the request so that other admins can still see it. Re: WP:ACC

You could leave a note on WT:ACC if you want broader input, but my own feeling is that WP:ACC is so simple that such a list isn't needed. We don't usually need as much info as they do at WP:RENAME, so we can usually fix malformed requests ourselves. More to the point: anyone incapable of following the simple ACC instructions is unlikely to be able to follow a small link somewhere to a list of advisors. A compromise might be to add a short line to the instructions, suggesting that people with questions could contact anyone they see adding tags to the other requests, but personally I don't think even that is necessary. Still, I certainly won't argue if you want to do it.

Did you see? I managed to delete and restore the ACC page without breaking anything! --barneca (talk) 18:31, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Abuse

My talk page, user page, whatever, should have been removed. But you're keeping it alive. Probably using that Administrator privilege to do so.

This user disenfranchises new Wikipedians and everyone should know it.

Msharmanos (talk) 04:43, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See this?

None of this applies to me.

Wikipedia improves not only through the hard work of more dedicated members but also through the often anonymous contributions of many curious newcomers. All of us were newcomers once, even those careful or lucky enough to have avoided common mistakes, and many of us consider ourselves newcomers even after months (or years) of contributing. New contributors are prospective "members" and are therefore our most valuable resource. We must treat newcomers with kindness and patience — nothing scares potentially valuable contributors away faster than hostility. While many newcomers hit the ground running, some lack knowledge about the way we do things.

Replaceable fair use Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 11:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The Sunday Telegraph.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The Sunday Telegraph.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. ... but his warning was BECAUSE I FOLLOWED the bot's instruction! So, let me get this right. If a bot gives a false positive, I can delete that but A. N.
