Prayer for Ukraine

I took this pic in 2009. It was on the German MP yesterday (3 days after nomination, while they normally let you wait 6 weeks), with the song from 1885, in English Prayer for Ukraine. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:29, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt
This is a very nice picture, thanks for sharing it with TLC (and I guess me, but this message was directed towards her). Rlink2 (talk) 22:30, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
the stats show rather clearly that there's interest in this article (about an old hymn), and that it was triggered not by the invasion, but U.S. tv (I've seen the video which is suppressed in my country but a friend helped me to it), and the news following - it is in the media with or without DYK --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:49, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I do love the picture! :) hope it sees the light of our own main page. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 07:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
It graced the Main page in 2016. Yoninah also liked it. Coinincidentally, today is her 10th Precious anniversary. The people in oppressive circumstances back then were the Great Dismal Swamp maroons - my first GA, DYK? - You could review the nom, no? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:42, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: i'll bet :D that is an excellent first GA, too, I gotta give that a more thorough read soon. As for the nom- to be honest with you, I've been feeling pretty out of DYK recently. I don't know if it's permanent—I really hope it isn't, I love the project—but I just don't have a lot of time, and the job only seems to be getting harder. I'll tak ea look, but it's likely I couldn't give a good review given how far out of my field it is. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 07:52, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
I'll give you a virtual hug if you read the article thoroughly. I'll give you two if you also review, which should be so easy based on the GA review. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:56, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: nothing like incentive :) i've finished my review. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 08:15, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
thank you, i hope you feel the hugs --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:26, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
I would likely give up on building preps if I was the only one or main one. I admit that I sometimes think of the DYK project crashing and burning due to no one wanting to build the prep with some satisfaction. It might seem wrong of me, but that feeling comes from pretty much no one wanting to build the preps and it doesn't last long. I do not want to be in the same situation I was in shortly after Yoninah died and no one knew what happened to her. I was the only one building preps and I made so many mistakes because of it. ERRORS took it out on me, but I was burning out. I fully understand you feeling out of DYK.SL93 (talk) 15:30, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
I'm sure you'll regain the motivation at some point. Rlink2 (talk) 19:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, all, i really appreciate it :D
by the way, SL93, that cannot have been an easy mantle to take without warning. ERRORS does what ERRORS does, but kudos to you for keeping it going at all—as i'm sure you're aware, there's barely ten people on this site who would be able to pick it up right away. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 22:21, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
March songs

Thank you for support in the RfC! Listening to the charity concert mentioned here. I created the articles of the composer and the soprano, Anna and Monika, no Claudia ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:36, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

thought i'd stand by a good hook! and no claudia, i'm disappointed :) by the way, could you link with Special:Diff instead of Special:PermanentLink? easier to see what you're talking about that way theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 00:07, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
I use special diff but not when there many changes - as is the rule when I change my talk in the morning, see? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:41, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
What makes you think the RfC might be closed any day? Do you see anybody brave enough? If yes, tell them. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:49, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I mean, consensus seems pretty clear, and I have a hard time believing that we're gonna follow standard practice and wait a month for a close. The hooks are piling up already. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 20:52, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Do you know a single good closer who is truly uninvolved? I tried Wugapodes, who instead left a comment, and Floquenbeam, who said he wouldn't close. Hammersoft perhaps? We talk about the RfC on WT:DYK which is not "old" but comments coming slow already. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:39, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt
Maybe ProcrastinatingReader? Rlink2 (talk) 13:08, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I trust Eddie891, I'll reach out :) theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 17:01, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
... and now two others did it, finally! - Was this whole detour good, instead of just following our neutrality guideline, - I wonder. - St. Patrick's Day, more music and today's sunset --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:12, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: three weeks of talking just to arrive at what we already knew: be neutral. For purim, I am sitting in my room, costumeless. Would've gone as C. J. Cregg :) theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 21:16, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
not that DYK will make a big difference to the 40k+ views on Prayer for Ukraine over the last weeks, - it's just sad that goodwill is suppressed thinking that we are "using" the DYK section. - Not telling readers what they want to know, for reasons of false balance, is worth, no? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:29, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
on Bach's birthday: the places where I sang his Dona nobis pacem --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:40, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
סלאאם עלינו ועל כל העולם :)
man, I'm really on a kick today... theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 20:44, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
this? - mine --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:02, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
that'd be the one :) ooh i like this, except... it's in B flat minor? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 21:05, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
forgot to ping ya theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 21:05, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
It's on DYK right now ;) - The mass is in B minor, but this - the last movement - in D major. We sang it the day before the Iraq War was decided. I'll not forget. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:58, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
oh my, that's quite a memory :) again, this could be my ear being wonky (i've got a cold, and I'm not so good with the black-key keys), but this recording sounds like C# major? Is it possible it was recorded a key down? ah whatever it is, it's beautiful theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 22:12, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
tuning in Baroque time was indeed about a half-step lower - if you want to follow the music listen to Herreweghe on YT - need sleep --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:15, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

congratulations: your first TFA, SLAPP Suits! - introduced "This article details the story of the penultimate episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver's sixth season, and the lead-up saga including a segment two years prior, a lawsuit, an amicus brief that must have had them rolling in the courthouse pews, and something known as the "Suck My Balls, Bob" dancers. to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure either." - I replied to your question described as weird on my talk, and have one request: I'll nom a singer a few hours late, her name is Heather, and I'd appreciate a reviewer accepting that I had a few other things in mind, - such as stand and sing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:50, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: mostly responded on your talk :D ping me when you've created the nompage, I look forward to at least attempting a review. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 09:18, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

welcome to the cabal of the outcast! - please feel free to list articles for review on the talk - the soprano is nominated --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:15, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

thank you! I've got Pronunciation of GIF stalled at the moment, I'd love some input on that. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 09:18, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I'll check the FAC but likely not today, - another DYK nom due today, and desperately want to expand the Kyiv theatre ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:24, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
if you have much time you are welcome to help St. Mark's Basilica --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:35, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

The Prayer is on the Main page, finally + new flowers --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:54, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: About damn time :D I'll take a look at St. Mark's Basilica, but it's pretty far out of my depth. And btw, I heard this TFA is a young writer's first ;) theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 21:57, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Bach's No. 1 today --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:14, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
Sunday flowers and sounds, don't miss the extraordinary marriage of the beginnings of the theme of Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern, BWV 1, and Prayer for Ukraine - here! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
