Can someone with knowledge of how to update a page.. add these changes to my page. I am the Real Rick Shapiro. I don't know how to add things to a personal section or other stuff. Help is appreciated:

Rick Shapiro (born April 13, 1959) is a Los Angeles-based comedian. He first gained attention in the stand-up scene based around the Lower East Side in New York. He was a mainstay in the underground comedy scene for years, performing a regular Wednesday night set at the Sidewalk Cafe in New York until his role on Louis C.K.'s HBO sitcom Lucky Louie helped him reach a wider audience. He is known for his ability to improvise, making up much of his trademark long sets on the spot.

He has spoken openly about his younger years when he first became addicted to heroin and resorted to male prostitution to support his habit. He speaks about his troubled past in his comedy, making light of what could be considered a difficult topic. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2008, he performed regularly at clubs in New York. He now performs in both the Los Angeles and New York comedy circuits as well as touring internationally. In 2013 Shapiro’s name was added to the historical wall of comedy history at the The World Famous Comedy Store.

In 2007, he made a popular UK debut, receiving favorable reviews for his one-man Edinburgh Festival show, produced by Calvin Wynter at The Green Room. Shapiro returned in 2008 and 2013 however both trips followed life changing medical events.

In 2008, he was in Grand Theft Auto IV on the radio station PLR, portraying Mason Waylon who is a guest on a talk show on the radio, and eventually drills holes in the heads of the two other guests.

In 2010, he was in a scene originally filmed for the pilot of Louie that ended up as a deleted scene for Season 1, a scene in which he goes on one of his acclaimed rants which can be found on the Season 1 DVD of Louie.

In March 2012, his first book, Unfiltered, was released along with his second CD, Catalyst for Change, produced by Stand-Up Records. The book, published by Paradisiac Publishing, is a compilation of over 200 previously unreleased writings. As well Shapiro played the role of T-Rick in the movie Project X which was released on March 2, 2012.

On April 13 2012, his birthday, he suffered a mild cardiac event exacerbated by a hypersensitivity to a prescribed medication. His manager, Tracy DeMarzo, explained that Rick has been sober for 25 years, and states that illegal drugs had absolutely nothing to do with this health scare. "This was a fluke, an unfortunate event", she said. "It could have happened to anyone." He left the hospital on April 27, 2012 but was readmitted on April 30, 2012 due to further medical complications. He was released from hospitalization on June 12, 2012.

On April 25, 2013, He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a degenerative disorder that attacks the central nervous system. Since his diagnosis Rick has been very active with boxing and other demanding exercises. He continues to act and will be appearing in season 2 of IFC’s show MARON, starring and produced by Mark Maron. Rick is also active with promoting awareness through humor about Parkinson's Disease.

On June 8th, 2013 Rick married his manager and long-time friend, Tracy DeMarzo. Together they share custody of their dog, Agent 99.

Rick resides in both NY and LA to continue both his acting and comedy careers.

USER NAME/I DON'T UNDERSTAND..[edit]

hey.. now i am being told that there is a conflict with me using my user name TheRealRickShapiro... I don't understand how to make changes, I use that user name to indicate that I am the Real Rick Shapiro. All I want is to have my page updated. And now i am at risk of losing my page? I don't understand.

The problems with my page have not been my fault..

Rick Shapiro

OTRS Request[edit]

Hello User:Therealrickshapiro (Rick Shapiro?) and thank you for creating a user account under your own name, allow me to explain something. Wikipedia has a policy about famous people who are editors. Mostly so that someone cannot pretend to be you or any other figure like President Obama. Normally the account is blocked until verification can be made, but there is no pressing need to right now. And to better address the issues, having you unblocked is probably for the better. So we just have to prove who you are so you won't be bugged about this or blocked later on.

  • Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  • Please send an e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles e-mail is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you wish to leave messages on my talk page or here about the errors on your biographical article let me know. Oh, and you might want to read WP:COI as it covers conflicts of interest. I wouldn't go editing your own article. Use the talk page, on the project page to post things you think might be of value to the wiki and other editors will follow up. Use the help system as described on your user page.

Please try to understand that is not YOUR article, but it is a article about you. While what you would like to have on this page all sounds great, it MUST be referenced and sourced in a manner that provides a credible non self created reference for the claim. If you have issues with the data that is on the page use the help system to find someone to resolve your issues or the administrator boards can provide further help. I have posted some welcoming information on your user page, take the time to read it so you understand the process, edit pages that are NOT connected to you and learn how it is we work together and it will assist you in accomplishing your objectives.

The bio that you offer above will not be posted on the page about you, it quite simply put just can not be supported. Everything MUST be supported by facts, and if someone goes on stage and says that the earth is square, that does not make it a fact. What Wikipedia requires is qualified sources. I.E. Time, Newsweek, Hollywood Reporter and such. If you have links to these type of publications that would really be helpful for other editors to include that data in the story on Wikipedia about you. Editors that write, such as myself will then include a truncated version of the data in a update to the page. Place the links on: The Rick Shapiro talk page, along with a list of any errors you notice in the biographical article and one of us will tend to it.

Therealrickshapiro: response[edit]

thank you and understood. I have had multiple conversations using the email address ( (info-en-q@wikimedia.org) ) that you recommended, ticket number [Ticket#2014022710015234].. and yes, i understand that this is a page that is updated based upon information and verifyable links. i will do my best to update however i am not computer savvy.

My page was hacked and destroyed and now there is limited information that limits my exposure.

Thank you again. Therealrickshapiro talk 18:41, 2 April 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome. BTW:Be sure to sign your posts, use 4 "~" at the end of your posts and the system will post the data as shown in the line above, your signature and a link to this talk page as well as time stamp info in the future. I noticed the Wikipedia Adventure and reviewed it the other day. It is a great way for you to learn how to contribute here, and help to make this site grow. There is a lot to learn and the adventure seems to be a comprehensive tool that will help educate you. As mentioned, simply post on the talk page of the story about you things that will assist in improving the story. Enjoy the adventure and feel free to reach out when you have questions. Cheers!
