AAFM American Academy of Financial Management - Citations Accreditations and Press

I am a fan of AAFM in the EU. I have reviewed the files and I am not sure why RJC and ENRIC naval want to suppress the citations below.

If there are any ethics left on WIKI, please review the AAFM references and recent press below. I am not sure why the AAFM is mad at WIKI editors, but it may have something to do with fraudulent posts and vandalism on the AAFM page.

Hopefully these links can help your team create a better article. I just cut these links out from the AAFM talk page. It seems that RJS and ENRIC keep deleting these links in an attempt to cover up the references, but that is for you and your team to decide if there are COI abuses.

Humpty Dumpty.

Hello, there was no maliciousness in the editing of the article, I was just trying to add in what I thought was allowed by Wikipedia, I got the story in my youth from possibly one of my high school teachers, as I said in the article I could not remember who told me, but If I have done wrong, then I hold my hands up to the charge, sorry, ---- George Lintott.

Hi Theroadislong,

I made a number of changes to The Beekman School so that the language is more neutral and added a number of external sources including The New York Times as a reference. Please let me know if I need to make any other changes and, if so, where specifically? Also, how can I remove the two flags on the page?

Thanks! dbosleyjr

Hi! timeline issue

It's me bothering again. I was updatng the timeline of u2 and I hit on this weird thing on the 2008 section,

Acording the article for the DVD it was released on 17 Nov 2003, but I don't know what to do... It is at the 2008 section but it says it was in 2013. (O_o) Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 17:54, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

Optical Express (again)

Hi,I just wanted to raise your attention to recent edits to the Optical Express page. Some of which are from the IP who had previously made changes and had received a warning. There is also another edit re the Optical Express CEO which could be construed as original research. I would appreciate your attention. Thanks. --Hardlygone (talk) 08:56, 15 October 2013 (UTC) I've also added a comment to the Talk Page if you could please review. Thanks Hardlygone (talk) 10:29, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Issues with recent edit

Re this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Act!_CRM&diff=prev&oldid=577438909

On Act! CRM

The previous user just updated the existing URL after a change in domain - the product "Act!" was sold from Sage to Swiftpage

The link isn't promotional, it's a KB article with more detail on some of the areas already in the Wiki page

Can you let me know if I can revert the edit? Or, if not, what is the rule preventing it and what's the best way to add the info it contains?

Thanks --GLC-Mike (talk) 12:46, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

If it is the official page of the new owners than it could go in the external links section ...which is already overcrowded with irrelevant links. Theroadislong (talk) 13:06, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Ok ... I'll remove the old reviews and book adverts from that section (all but first three). For the specific edit, would a Reference from the main body also work? Also, for the link to the Developer that you recently removed, would the correct way be to create a separate page for them and link to that? GLC-Mike (talk) 13:42, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

It's always better to use links as references where possible. If you think the developer is notable then an article could be created. Theroadislong (talk) 13:46, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your help ... not always easy as different editors look for different things. What's ok with one, might not be to another Just to confirm, for non-Wiki links, the preference is: Reference if mentioned in the body External if not or if particularly notable GLC-Mike (talk) 13:53, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

That would be my interpretation of the guidelines yes. Theroadislong (talk) 13:57, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Paul Kasmin Gallery

Hi! It seems to me that you have been more or less single-handedly fighting the relentless tide of spam by various editors apparently associated with this gallery - at Deborah Kass, at Barry Flanagan, at Caio Fonseca, at Nancy Rubins, and probably in a lot of other places I haven't noticed. So I wondered, how good are you at WP:SPI submissions? My success rate in that area is to date a solid 0%, so I hesitate to start another. But it seems to me likely from the edit histories that some or all of Edit2update293/Pkgediting, Pkedits, 50.74.179.34, and Jbnyc may be connected. Do you have any thoughts on that? Is there any reason that you are aware of not to think about requesting blacklisting for paulkasmingallery.com? Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:15, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

It looks like they are all connected but I have no experience of WP:SPI submissions recently. The most recent user will be back soon from his block let's see what he does. Blacklisting is certainly a possibility that I hadn't considered. Theroadislong (talk) 21:23, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
OK, I'm pleased to see that you think pretty much as I do. I've never made a blacklist proposal; I'm going to look at it now. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:48, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Victorian churches

Hi - thanks for your messages regarding my addition of a link to the Victorian churches blog. Sorry if I have run foul of Wikipedia conventions. May I ask if you are an expert in this subject or are you a volunteer making sure Wikipedia is run properly?

As the blog has a large collection of photos on the work of a range of Victorian architects, (171 churches so far) I do feel that the blog is of interest to anyone who searches J L Pearson, Street or Scott on Wikipedia. So what is the correct procedure for me to suggest this that this link is inserted ? Thanks Roger T — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogert5595 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

I am an editor just like you... the external links guide is not at all keen on blogs... Wikipedia:LINKSTOAVOID unless the owner is a recognised expert on the subject. Theroadislong (talk) 16:57, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Dear Sir Madam, Having read the Francis Bacon article I wanted to correct British description my comments are below -which you deleted from the talk page , I thought I would have an orderly discussion and not an outright deletion -there is nothing in what I have written that is not true. Please see Pablo Picasso's page he was born in Spain and lived the great majority of his life in France he has never been described as French, similar to Bacon- I think wikipedia should reflect facts and not opinion.

Francis Bacon

On the issue of the description of Bacon as "Irish born, British figurative painter" this has been a subject of dispute among a number of user/editors of Wikipedia, clearly the talk page requests users to be objective and report Facts supported by evidence in adhering to this principle the description "Irish born" is entirely appropriate back up by historical evidence of the Irish National census of 1911 (please see link http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002575018/) .There is clearly a bias against describing Bacon as Irish as his nationality and forcefully purporting him to be a "British painter" due to his parents nationality they are described as "English" yes his mother was born in England but his father was born in Australia -as can be seen again the census 1911 enumerators abstract. In reporting these facts I would request the Lede be changed to reflect facts "Francis Bacon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1909" etc, and delete the British description. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Haseoffergeld (talk • contribs) 01:52, 29 October 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Haseoffergeld (talkcontribs)

The consensus on the talk page is overwhelmingly in favor of "Irish-born British" as the optimal wording. Theroadislong (talk) 19:23, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Please , Please see the above link to the census of Ireland 1911 not just Francis Bacon's description but also his parents Please try to be objective and report facts and not your opinion - It's not credible to describe Bacon as British he lived in Britain that is a fact and should be included by right, the consensus you mention applies to a motivated audience who participated at the time - recording a Fact the current does not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Haseoffergeld (talkcontribs) 02:31, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Gareth Jones (director) page

Thank you for your message regarding the Gareth Jones (director) page which I have created. I would like to reassure you and other Wikipedia users that I have excercised extreme caution in the construction of this page since I am aware of the neutrality issues, being connected with the subject. The page contains only verifiable biographical and filmographical information about the subject. Since I have access to a great deal of archive material associated with Gareth Jones, the references are actual and reliable. They would also not otherwise be available in any sphere, and the intention is to make as much information available as possible in the public interest. I fully support Wikipedia's policy on neutrality and lack of bias and have done everything I can to comply with this. Clive Russell

Guten Tag Herr Thrroadislong. It depends on which path you take. I've noticed you have made quite a lot of changes to Clive's page. I haven't even started with his TV credits which I believe are the longest and most for any British Actor. Why did you delete the Edinburgh piece Clive loved that piece at the time. ' Line Lee ' ? and of course I couldn't hear him. After every performance I saw... I would go to his dressing room and state either he sank the Black - Very good. .. he would come back with his own colour ever time.. its a fun side of Clive which people don't see. Aren't anecdotes permitted. Basically no one touches the page for ages and through his agent and management team and of course Clive. They have permitted me to make the page more readable and put in the relevant references. I do like what you have done. But, we laughed our heads off at ' line lee '? it was a celebrity preview night and we had half of the cast of East Enders in. They all turned and looked at me. To which I said rather loudly ' What? Which was Clives next line. Interviews and from Eastenders performer are on you tube etc.. Line Lee? he said it twice.. My excuse to him was well Clive you're a pro, you have to get yourself out of these things.. and then I told him the truth.. Some extremely funny moments, to which I can still see him rolling about saying 'Ousby you Bastard' Line Lee? Wee Bastard. Very funny, of course I wouldn't use that kind of language in the article. Joe Wenborne is a notable and respected playwright, I was pointing out that the piece was written by Joe. The Star factor in the papers is huge in the festival. It can make or break you. The show was performed at the assembly rooms edinburgh... Best wishes Leon (Lee) Ousby - Actor (talk) 20:43, 11 November 2013 (UTC) PS - I don't want to spend ages writing something and sourcing the refs for it to be deleted.. Its actually hurtful. it seems every administrator has a different opinion anyway. Best wishes. Link Removal Australian Field Marshals

Hi TheRoad,

OK, I can see why you might remove the link to our web site but it is the only complete site dealing with Sir Thomas Albert Blamey and it is the result of more than 6 years of academic and historical research. Our facts can be proved by official documents in our possession and we have the permission and blessing of Mr Ted Blamey, the Field Marshal's senior next-of-kin. In fact it was he who suggested to us that we create this link. There is already a link from Tom Blamey's page to our web site, although it may be a little out of date.

Mr Ted Blamey can be contacted at teb@chartmgmtconsultants.com Upon completion of shooting our documentary will be screened by Foxtel/History Channel. I would also like to point out that we make no money whatsoever from the web site. It has cost us several thousand dollars to mount and we keep it there as a tribute to a great Australian who has been forgotten in his own country, indeed why we made our documentary. Our project has the sanction and support of the Australian War Memorial's director Dr Brendan Nelson and senior staff members of the Australian Army. Please reconsider your ruling and please contact Mr Blamey and/or myself and I will try to provide you with any supporting material that I can.

Encaustic tile and cement tiles

Dear Theroadislong, Please help me, I once was told by you i couldn't put a link to my page from the encaustic tiles and cement tiles wiki. So I learnt from you that i was ruining wikipedia for everyone else and i figured that i would put a link from my page to wikipedia as opposed to the other way round, the thing is now other companies are putting their links to those wikis, i was reading the links that should be avoided wikipedia page, and found that the policy 4, 5 and 14 were ones against personal and commercial pages, So i told the person who is linking and he doesn't want to listen. If i put an informative link on my page, i don't want to worry that another company has their link there.

Hope you can help. Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tachiflower (talkcontribs) 08:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the hand in improving this article. I'm trying to get cites for all the facts via a Google Books search, but I'm not having too much success. Most of the facts seem to come from this source, but I've got a feeling that's self-published (it seems anyone can log in and write stuff about the local area). What do you think? Quit Sabotaging Edits

You are changing references from one Universal Life Church to the Monastery. Secondly you are adding digits to url's to make them non functional so they can be removed such as on Lisa William's page. You are quick to delete and offer NO explanation for your actions on the talk pages for a respective subject. You made major changes on Lisa's page without any kind of conversations with others. It seems you have personal agendas not only as a represented of Monastery in seattle, but to attack Lisa Williams or those affiliated with other Universal Life Churches.Stmichael1060 (talk) 16:53, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Lisa Williams (psychic) As anyone can see from the edit history all my edits were explained in my edit summaries. Your accusation that I have changed urls to sabotage the article is ridiculous. It is very clear from the edit history that it was you [1] who introduced an incorrect url. As for monastery I have no idea what you are talking about? Have a good day. About Požarevac, the text I expanded, and that you asked me about

Hi! I wrote the text about culture of my town. I am from Požarevac and I know a lot of information about my own town. I just wanted to expand this information box, with more information, so anyone who looks up for Požarevac can find more useful information about it. I don't recall that I removed some text, but if I did so, please except my sincere apologies. I never meant to do such things. What I wanted is to give the viewers more information about my town, but as I can see, you deleted it. If you think my text is unreliable, you can check it by looking the history of our famous artist Milena Pavlović Barili, which is the reason why I wrote the text about culture. Salute! List of Field Marshals - Removal of your reference by another reader

Dear TheRoadIsLong, I appreciate your inclusion of my link in the reference section of the List Of Field Marshals' page. Now that the reference has been removed by another reader what redress do I have. The link is not irrelevant as it connects to the only page on the internet that presents extensive detail on the Field Marshal's life. It is balanced, and the information is completely accurate. How do I contact this un-named reader to plead my case? Or can I take the matter higher up in Wikipedia to have the link reinstated?

Kind regards, Bill Halliwell www.TheBlameyEnigma.com BillHalliwell (talk) 01:32, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid I agree that the link probably is irrelevant to that article which is a general list. I see you have added it to the Thomas Blamey article too, which is more appropriate but it is considered spamming to add links to your own website and will only end in you being blocked. You could ask for advice at the WP:Teahouse. Theroadislong (talk) 08:25, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Champagne Krug article publication

Hi Theroasdislong,

Hope this message finds you well.

I work in a digital agency for Krug, which is actually involved in a Wikipedia project. Few months ago Krug and I proposed a new version of the article Champagne Krug. We were in direct contact with one of the participants of Wikiproject:Wine name Agne27.

She well-validated this version.I would like to know if you can check the version that Krug propose and if you can validate it too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Champagne_Krug

If you think that this article proposal is OK could you be able to publish it?

I would also argue against the significance of this in the Optical Express article. --Hardlygone (talk) 17:06, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

This article's list of alumni may not follow Wikipedia's verifiability or notability policies. Please improve this article by removing names that do not have independent reliable sources cited within this article showing they are notable and alumni or by incorporating the relevant publications into the body of the article through appropriate citations. It doesn't get any clearer than that

Is it OK to resubmit an old idea?

Abbythecat (talk) 02:45, 3 December 2013 (UTC)A long time ago, I tried creating pages for a book called THE BIBLE ON FILM: A CHECKLIST, 1897-1980, and for the creator & co-author of it, Richard H. Campbell. Both were rejected. Since then, I have found that the book has been cited in some pretty impressive books, & wondered if this might make a difference. The award-winning book THE JESUS I NEVER KNEW by Philip Yancey notes it. So do 2 books from Cambridge University -- THE ANCIENT WORLD IN SILENT CINEMA (by Dr. Michelakis and Prof. Wyke) and THE BIBLE ON SILENT FILM: SPECTAVCLE, STORY AND SCRIPTURE IN THE EARLY CINEMA (by David J. Shepherd). Another book by Shepherd also notes it -- IMAGE OF THE WORD: HOLLYWOOD'S BIBLE AND BEYOND, published by the Society of Biblical Literature. I'd like to re-submit a page for the book -- I think that'd be better than the author, unless you think better -- but don't want to do it if it will just get rejected again. So any opinions/help appreciated. Thanks. Abbythecat (talk) 02:45, 3 December 2013 (UTC)AbbythecatAbbythecat (talk) 02:45, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

I received your message regarding changes to the COLE PLANTE page. I am not trying to do anything wrong much less commit 'vandalism'. I'm Cole Plante's manager and want to update the page so that it is accurate. Before I tried amending the page, Cole's father tried to make changes but his changes we're denied as well.

Please let me know how we can create an accurate page for Cole:) One again, we are not trying to do anything just trying to get Cole's page right!!!

As you both have a conflict of interest it's advisable to suggest changes on the talk page, at the moment the article has no references, can you supply any reliable third party sources ? Theroadislong (talk) 08:21, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Claudio Rinaldi

has an entry in Dizionario degli artisti italiani viventi, pittori, scultori e architetti. This appears to be an art history of its day. COnsidering the tech level of the day, this amounts to significant coverage. The listing there indicates notability. Dloh Dlohcierekim 02:18, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

"Artist Statement"

Ack. Yes, I do rather like this.

OTOH a brief statement on each series from the photographer -- clearly (but less pompously) so labeled -- might in the short run be better than no explanatory material at all, and might in the long run complement material from independent sources. A number of these "Artist Statements" are oblique at best, or abridgable; but I wonder if the article hasn't just now lost some baby with its bathwater.

(There is indeed something very screwy about a long BLP [which I first noticed only yesterday] sourced almost exclusively to its biographee; but by most relevant criteria Adams is eminent in his field; and the very unfortunate fact is that WP has very few editors indeed who are much interested in writing up photographers. So I don't see advertising here; I see one or more inexperienced fans who are a little misguided yet scrupulous in their way.) -- Hoary (talk) 23:20, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps some of the content could be reintroduced into the body of the article rather than in list form? Theroadislong (talk) 23:29, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Yes -- if only somebody had the time and energy to do so. Sorry, but I lack them. As a stopgap, what if I reverted the removal of these "Artist Statements", abridged them (or entirely removed the apparently uninformative), retitled them, and generally reduced the pomposity, while both (i) indicating to the reader that this was what RA was trying to do, and (ii) making it very clear that this is RA talking, rather than as summarized by an outsider?

Meanwhile, get a whiff of the sourcing for this (which I discovered just an hour ago). I don't know where to start. Well actually I do know where to start, but alas there are seven and not twenty days in my week, and the seven are full. There do exist models in WP for sourcing such articles: Get an eyeful of the sourcing here; it's mostly my work, but this so exhausted me that I thereafter didn't continue to the article proper as I had intended.

(Sorry for the self-pitying/self-aggrandizing tone: too busy with my [salaried, and of course WP-irrelevant] work these days.) -- Hoary (talk) 01:06, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

PS Good morning (my time)! You haven't replied, but I anyway seem to have lost most of the (limited) enthusiasm I had for reinstating some of this material. Perhaps we can just forget it. -- Hoary (talk) 00:15, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

I had a go at Frank Gohlke I'll have a look for some secondary sources later. Cheers. Theroadislong (talk) 10:49, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Balanced view on "Great Chinese Famine"

Please read the reference by Prof. Sun Jingxian who as a statistician showed that the death toll could be as little as 2.5 million. If you cannot read Chinese, please have it translated. Prof. Sun's view is a published scholastic opinion. Please don't ignore. Also, any claim of "Government Statistics" is false, since Chinese Government never published any official statistics. It may be a view by a Chinese official. Same "famous example" in the original article is not supported by reference, and in my opinion is completely false. Hope I am doing this right.

You commented in a page I was working on about the equal weight given clause. I had responded to those claims in the same talk section earlier, and I don't know how to interpret your having me re-read the clause again. I need some context in regards to my comments. Specifically,

1. Does ILDAS represent a significant minority viewpoint. (I gave evidence that it was, but could be wrong.) 2. The guidelines on equal weight specifically mention articles about significant minority viewpoints, and I think I stayed within those bounds. If not I would like to learn.

Also, am I using talk, and user talk, and boards correctly? Bob the goodwin (talk) 23:16, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello Theroadislong,

I am interested in understanding what about my recent edits may have come off as "too flattering or too disparaging". My intention was to provide unbiased clarity on the matter and on people's understanding of the function of third party ecolabels. However, being flagged as editing for the purpose of advertisement shines a dark light on the clarity and understanding I was hoping to provide. Please review my edits and let me know of any possible improvements to my editing style.

Thank you,

The advert tag was not aimed at your edits specifically but the article as a whole which has a non neutral promotional tone to it. Your username suggests that you have a conflict of interest too. Theroadislong (talk) 19:57, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Optical Express

Hi, Just wanted to reach out to you re reverting my edit on the OE page. I made the change as I believe it is more appropriate than the current version. Optical Express is not a retail business but is a leading LES and IOL provider, as detailed in the Competition Commission report. That wording has been written by an independent commission, so I don't believe that it is promotional whatsoever. It was properly referenced and is an accurate statement. I can't see how that hasn't enhanced the accuracy of the article. I would appreciate if you could revert back to my comment or suggest an appopriate edit which reflects the source material. --Hardlygone (talk) 11:48, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

What's going on here?

Hi - you "sent" the menu I currently see on my talk page, so I'm sending this to you.

I've had a strange experience in the teahouse, and have just sent this:

Why do some questions disappear from the teahouse list?«  Join this discussion

I had asked a question, received a response, and wished to ask a follow-up. However, the "Let's discuss it" on the response from the editor was not clickable, and now I see that the original question is gone from here, and I don't see it on my page?

I have contributed to Wikipedia, but perhaps for the last time.

I have made minor edits to a few articles, and was considering writing one, but this feels like a less than friendly reception.

I would like an explanation of what I'm (not) seeing, or will give up on Wikipedia, and join those who trash it. Velotrain (talk) 00:59, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Disappearing Talk

Hi -

I have another theory.

When you put a "menu/directory" in my talk page, I wonder if that action could have wiped out everything previously in there?

I had a conversation with an editor disappear, and I have no consciousness of deleting it.

Charles Velotrain (talk) 02:31, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

My edit to your talk page was the first edit there, your conversation with another editor was on the Teahouse page. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
When you edited the Teahouse page instead of creating a new section you over wrote another users question here [2] that user then reverted your changes and your question disappeared. Theroadislong (talk) 09:13, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your message

I was just thinking it would be good to share some pictures on the ships wrecks of Truk Lagoon but, I couldn't add images until I had made a number of edits, so that is what I was trying to do

I have put up a similar edit on Fujikawa and Fumizuki, so please remove the second one too

Dear Theroadislong,

Greetings from Finland. I'm a junior producer in animation studio Anima Vitae. I saw you reverted the edits I made. There is already available an article about Anima Vitae https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_Vitae .

I'm new with Wikipedia. Can you please guide me. How can I make my edit permanent in the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animation_studios

I would like to add there: 1) Our company Anima Vitae 2) Our sister company Anima Boutique 3) A joint venture AnimaPoint

Did I understand right that I need to first create articles about Anima Boutique and AnimaPoint? Why can't I add Anima Vitae if there is already an article about it https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_Vitae ? Or should the article be also in English? Where can I write the Anima Vitae article in English?

Sincerely, NikoOfficial (talk) 11:26, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Murano Glass article revision by GlassOfVenice

Dear user Theroadislong, we have just been notified that our recent revision to Murano Glass page's External Links section on Wikepedia has been reverted with comments "spam spam spam" by you and you were reporting us. The first link that was previously on the page was to http://www.muranoglassgifts.com/history.php and represented copyright infringement (fully plagiarized from http://www.doge.it/murano/muranoi.htm). We are one of the biggest Murano Glass specialists in the world and we perform extensive research on the subject of Murano Glass, writing lots of original non-commercial well-researched articles on Murano Glass related topics. We have written the history of Murano Glass and felt that Wikipedia community would greatly benefit from it, so tried to post the very relevant link only to be labeled as "spam". At the same time plagiarized link from muranoglassgifts.com was returned to the External Links section. We feel this is against the very spirit of Wikipedia -a place for sharing relevant well-written original content from people who are experts in their field. Please explain why you reverted our changes and how we can benefit Wikipedia community without being labeled as "spam". Thank you, GlassOfVenice — Preceding unsigned comment added by GlassOfVenice (talkcontribs) 21:34, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Article: John Travis (physician)

Hi User:Theroadislong - I left a note on the Talk page of the above article and thought afterwards that I should also include this on your own Talk page. Thanks for having a look at the article. Your edits were useful and I’ve made some amendments to the article with these in mind.

I noticed that you had placed a COI tag and felt that this might be misplaced. I was taking it that you had included the tag because I had made a note re COI on the Talk page of the article. As I understand it this shouldn't automatically result in a COI tag being placed on the article itself. However, it may be that you had other concerns regarding neutrality. If so, I can try to address these. Thanks Fbell74 (talk) 08:50, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Propaganda

The wikipedia entry on David Irving begins with a blatant ad hominem libel. I can call you a "dumb shit" on one of these pages but unless I were to find some published source and quote that source directly, it wouldn't be proper to an encyclopedia would it? Irving's early work was especially well regarded by the historical community. His use of original sources was EXTRAORDINARY. To label him a 'holocaust denier' is not Mr. Irving's position judging from my reading of his published works. If you think otherwise, I would ask you to provide chapter and verse from Mr. Irving's works or interviews. Otherwise, remove the libel. I think this "un-neutral" entry on this man proves the real worth of Wikipedia, none. 64.6.124.77 (talk) 16:14, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments... the best place to discuss this is on the articles talk page. All good wishes. Theroadislong (talk) 16:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

No problem. Where is the articles talk page? The truth of the thing is there. Using labels of any kind rather makes a mockery of the idea of keeping a neutral stance as is worthy of a scholarly work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.6.124.77 (talk) 16:52, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Potential conflict of interest

Hi there, this is in response to your Talk message about my potential conflict of interest in editing the page for St. Michael's Choir School. As the school's archivist, I hope that I am professionally capable of making objective statements about its history, but I would be happy to send you any proposed edits for review. I have not, as yet, made any edits to the page, so I assume that the message you sent me is just a boilerplate response to new users to may have a conflict. As an employee of the school, I would much rather post with a username that is transparent about my identity. Since we have had someone on our page making inaccurate and negative edits (and falsely posing as an employee of the school while they do it), I do need to edit it to ensure it is correct and without unnecessary editorializing, so I would prefer that my conflict of interest is declared so that if other users have an issue with it, they can contact me directly to address it. Wouldn't it be in some way devious of me to hide my employment behind a different username? It would be a little silly to ask someone else to make edits on our behalf.

I am the only archivist, so this account will not be shared, though in the event that I move to a different job, I would probably pass on the credentials to whoever took my place as archivist. If the preferred policy would be to deactivate the account rather than pass it on, I would be happy to do that.

Please let me know if there is a more appropriate way to reply to messages you've sent to me. I couldn't find a Reply button.

Smcs.archives (talk) 16:00, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

It would be a good idea to propose your edits on the school's talk page first. Theroadislong (talk) 16:09, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
On the question of usernames, best practice is to have exactly one username per human, although using WP:MULTIPLE usernames per person is sometimes okay (as long as you put a note on each userpage saying I-am-also-known-as-User:othername to link the multiple names together). The converse situation, where more than one human uses a single wikipedia password, is not okay. If you change jobs (or get an assistant-archivist or similar), please advise the next archivist-person that they should register for a username something like User:xy.smcs.archives or similar, where xy is some unique identifier. This is partly done for copyright-contribution-licensing-reassignment-reasons, but also for keeping track of who is doing what. Hope this makes sense, danke. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 19:31, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
I see the other user has already been reported. Theroadislong (talk) 16:11, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
The article in question St. Michael's Choir School is appallingly badly referenced and should probably be dramatically reduced in size. Theroadislong (talk) 16:15, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
That is exactly why I created an account. It's an embarrassing mess. How do I access the page's Talk page to propose edits? We have several published histories as well as resources online with various media outlets and extensive archival resources and a number of things posted on the page were really just not correct. I have applied to have my username changed and declared my conflict of interest on my user page. I am happy to propose edits and am currently writing up a more accurate history. I also wish to post a catalogue of recordings as well as a biography of the founder (who deserves a page in his own right as he was a prolific liturgical composer of particular significance within the sphere of Canadian liturgical music). I want to improve this page! But thus far, I am pretty stupid at Wikipedia's systems, so please do bear with me while I learn. Smcs.archives (talk) 18:18, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
You will need reliable sources the schools archives will not usable I'm afraid. Theroadislong (talk) 18:21, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
You can access the talk page here Talk:St. Michael's Choir School Theroadislong (talk) 18:33, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
Just as a side-note, some schools do archive newspaper-clippings and such. But more to the point, WP:ABOUTSELF definitely permits the material in the archives (e.g. school manual), or on the school's official website for that matter, to be cited for uncontroversial non-promotional facts. I like to separate the WP:RS into the {{reflist}} from the WP:ABOUTSELF in the {{notelist}}, for an example of this composition-style please see Adolf Fredrik's Music School#References. Hope this helps, thanks for improving wikipedia. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 19:31, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi! I see you are working away tirelessly at this article. Just a heads-up that the history section is almost certainly a copyvio from 2005 (!) that will presumably have to be removed (I've asked for advice rather than going ahead and doing it myself), so it's perhaps not worth putting too much effort into that for now. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:48, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

OK thanks... I haven't done much to that bit because there don't seem to be any available sources for it, perhaps safer to remove and only add back what can be referenced. Theroadislong (talk) 23:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
