Complaint about you on my talk page: usage of Ahnentafels[edit]

Please see User talk:EdJohnston#Two editors who are in conflict with User:Surtsicna, where another user has complained about your edits. You can reply if you wish. It appears that you and the IP who is mentioned there have added ahnentafel information to articles about long-ago aristocrats. The usage of ahnentafels in Wikipedia articles is controversial. If you are not familiar with that dispute, I can look up the information for you. EdJohnston (talk) 01:42, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

March 2022[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Prince Luiz of Orléans-Braganza‎ while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 21:21, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used (not necessarily by you) to disrupt Wikipedia. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse.
Wikipedia tries to be open, but we sometimes must block IP addresses to prevent editing by abusers, vandals, or block evaders. These blocks can affect users who have done nothing wrong. If you are a legitimate user, follow the instructions below to edit despite the block. Users who are the intended target of a range block may still appeal the block.

IP users (without an account): If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. Please request an account under your preferred username. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user. If using the form, please refer to this block under "comments". If e-mailing, please refer to this block in your message.

Registered users (with an account): Please make sure you are logged in to your account. If you are unable to edit while logged in you may request IP block exemption to bypass blocks unconnected with you that affect your editing. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.

Administrators: CheckUsers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting a CheckUser or the Arbitration Committee.

unblock[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

O Caxiense (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

the block is no longer necessary because you understand what you are blocked for, you will not do it again, and you will make productive contributions instead. I apologize for what prompted my block. I no longer intend to edit on the English Wikipedia, as I only use the Lusophone Wiki. Thiago.moreira.gomes (talk) 04:57, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you no longer want to edit, there is no need to unblock you. PhilKnight (talk) 05:27, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I request to unblock my account again. I want to rename my Portuguese Wiki account for privacy reasons. However, I was informed that the renaming can only happen after my situation on the English Wiki is resolved, that is, my block. Please, I ask you to solve my problem, my only intention is to help Wikipedia. Thank you in advance and I apologize for anything. Thiago.moreira.gomes (talk) 05:49, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am not sure why the Portugese Wikipedia administrator you are speaking with is saying they can't rename you until the block is removed. This block does not prevent the renaming of your account. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I believe that the reason for my blocking was to introduce content without references and sources. I admit that I did that, but I had no intention of harming the articles. My only interest is to help the platform. I recognize my mistakes and declare that I will not do anything like that again. I'm a regular Wikipedia user, and my only intention is to contribute to the community. I ask you to evaluate my case, thank you in advance. Thiago.moreira.gomes (talk) 16:59, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

No, this is not why you were blocked. Additionally, I'm not remotely convinced you plan to constructively edit en.wikipedia. Yamla (talk) 17:09, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock[edit]

O Caxiense (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

As I've mentioned in previous requests, I didn't mean to vandalize or anything like that. I now realize that my edits were wrong. I only want my unlocking, as it is making it difficult to rename (for privacy reasons) my corresponding account on the Portuguese Wiki, my acting platform. They informed me that they can only rename it, only after unlocking it on the English wiki. If I am not welcome on the English wiki, I will no longer do any editing, but at least I want to have the right to enjoy the platform in the best way. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Thiago.moreira.gomes (talk) 18:19, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I'm gramting your unblock request since I no longer find any technical evidence that you are the same person as User:Guilherme Styles, who remains blocked. Be aware that you have been warned in the past for adding unsourced material and for adding ahnentafels (ancestry tables) to articles, Lifting the checkuser block doesn't clear your slate completely. You should still edit carefully and engage with any feedback you receive. EdJohnston (talk) 01:35, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why they are telling you that, blocks do not prevent renaming accounts. I rename blocked accounts all the time. Is that a policy decision on the Portguese Wikipedia? There's no technical reason that I am aware of. 331dot (talk) 18:59, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: We have a policy that do not recommend renaming accounts that have blocks on other wikis. If you, as an sysop here, feel comfortable doing the renaming, I don't see any problems. ━ ALBERTOLEONCIO Who, me? 15:10, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean is that I rename blocked accounts that want to edit here. If they don't want to edit here, there is no need to remove the block, and there's no need for us to rename them. It's a curious policy that the Portuguese Wikipedia has, allowing blocks on other wikis to influence them. That's your business, but I've stated my personal position. To this user, you can submit a rename yourself via Special:GlobalRenameRequest. 331dot (talk) 15:52, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot, hello. This is actually what the global policy recommends and holds no relation with pt.wiki rules. Global renamers first check with local wiki where user is blocked as a regular procedure. If user is not trying to avoid being recognized, if that won't cause any confusion here in any way and local admins are okay with renaming, then there is no problem. If that is the case, please confirm and any global renamer will perform it. —Teles «Talk to me˱M @ C S˲» 16:00, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I don't object to a rename insofar as they want to edit on another wiki, but I've never run into this situation before, where the user is saying they must be unblocked to permit a rename. Based on what you say, that doesn't seem to be the case, the other wiki can just inquire, right? 331dot (talk) 17:09, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Not that it needs to be unblocked to be renamed, but it's at least something like a nihil obstat from the wiki that holds the block. Perhaps he is on trial in some discussion, is being investigated or similar and a rename at this time may disrupts one of those internal processes and this action can be seen in some way as an attempt to conceal or obfuscate misconduct. In any case, as there are no objections to the renaming, I will proceed with the request. ━ ALBERTOLEONCIO Who, me? 22:54, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
