Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Basics of Ozone Science. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - ozone layer. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. You can discuss whatever you wish to discuss by editing here. While you technically *can* contact me through the 'email this user' link in the toolbox on my User:Syrthiss page, I'd prefer to keep content discussions in visible areas on Wikipedia. What is the urgency? If either of the above pages is deleted by another administrator, and you can prove that you are the owner of the text, they are easily restored. The urgency is that we are trying to have this page ready as a part of the Ozone day Celebration Presentations, which is on the 16th, day after tomorrow. I am currently editting the text for the Approaches to Capacity Building Page, so if you can remove the deletion tag while I edit that would be much appreciated. I know the pages can be recovered, but as I am working under a deadline, I do not want to have to contact an admin to get it restored just in case the page is removed before Ozone Day. Moreover, I checked the link you provided for the second article, which talks about Pakistan and the WTO. I can provide you the document from which this text was taken in .pdf format. The article you quoted seems to have violated the copyright by using United Nations Materials and not vice versa. I have asked one of the other administrators who handles copyright issues to take a look here. Please feel free to continue working on the pages in the meantime, but please be advised that duplicating topics that already exist and are well-covered on wikipedia and using wikipedia for promotion are both reasons by which the pages could be deleted as well. Could you also ask the admin to contact me before taking any actions. As I have mentioned, this is a very strict deadline we are trying to meet. any help would be much appreciated! Thanks for your time and understanding. I understand the case for duplication on the Ozone layer page, worse case I will just link it to the existing Ozone Layer page on wiki.   • There is absolutely no urgency. Why must these pages be ready for some event? They are on your website - that is quite sufficient. Your request smacks of attempting to use Wikipedia as a free host. How to verify copyright permission for articles[edit]

Hello, Thirdaccount.

Thank you for your interest in donating material to Wikipedia. Since we do not currently have a method in place to verify the identity of account holders at account creation, we must verify such donations through external processes. The articles are being blanked to allow time for that verification to proceed.

The simplest and quickest way to verify your permission is to place a release on the original publishing website putting the material into public domain or co-licensing it under CC-BY-SA and GFDL, which permit modification and reuse, even commercially, as long as authorship credit is given. This release is irrevocable and must continue to be displayed, or the material may need to be removed. A statement such as the following would be sufficient: "The contents of this website (or page, if you are specifically releasing one section) are available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GNU Free Documentation License, unversioned with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts." If you decide to take this route, please put a link to that release on the talk page so we can restore the contents.

Alternatively, although this method is slower, you may choose to send an e-mail to the Wikimedia Foundation from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL. There is a boilerplate release form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries which can be helpful. Please provide a clear link to the website in your e-mail and specify by name the articles on Wikipedia in which the material is being used. Once your e-mail is received and processed by a member of the Communications Committee, the article's contents will be restored if your release is legally sufficient. Please make a note that you've done this on the talk page of the articles to help guard against premature deletion of the page. You can compose a note or very simply paste the following on the talk page, brackets and all: {{OTRS pending}}

If you decide you don't wish to release the material into public domain or under the terms of CC-BY-SA and GFDL, you are welcome to rewrite the text from scratch. Each article that has been blanked now links to a "temporary" page where this can be done. As long as the material is otherwise compliant with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, it will be used to replace the previous contents. Please leave a note at the article's talk page, or here, saying you have done so.

We apologize for the additional steps necessary, but as copyright is a matter of legal concern, we must ensure that we not only protect the rights of copyright holders, but also guard the Wikipedia project against inadvertent infringement.

Since the matter is just textual content, which I had intially used to create a template for this page, this is easily solved, I am in the process of rewording the text as we speak. Given this if you could remove the notice on the page that would be great. If you can see, the first section has already been reworded. please get back to me as soon as possible. Please put your rewrites in the temporary spaces linked from the article's face. For example, OzonAction: CFCs effect on Stratoshperic Ozone links to [1]. As soon as you have rewritten them completely, I can replace the existing articles with them. As you can see I have already re-linked the CFCs effect page to the Ozone layer page that already exists on wiki. So for that page there should be no further issues. for the Approaches to capacity building page I am re writing it at the moment. I do not fully understand where to put this text (the article face?) could you please explain and confirm the resolution of the other page?(Thirdaccount (talk) 12:38, 14 September 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I will look at that immediately. Meanwhile, I'm afraid that OzonAction Programme is also unusable, though I gather that content was added by a colleague and not you. You cannot verify permission by phone, but must do it either at the site or through e-mail or mail. I have given you the instructions above for doing so. That said, if you wish to contact the Wikimedia Foundation, see Wikipedia:Contact us. Your organization has chosen to copyright its content: © UNEP DTIE 2007. Update regarding copyright concern[edit]

Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the articles have been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (if you are not the copyright holder or have co-authored the material, release under CC-BY-SA-compatible license alone is sufficient), the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.

As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that our licenses permit modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained and future copies are compatibly licensed.

Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.
