comment[edit]

I guess this may be your new user name.

Regarding the Sesto Rocchi wikipage, I would like you to reconsider your position (unreferenced|biography|date=April 2007). Some of us (who are in the field of Lutherie and Music) have been trying to expand the Luthier section. This particular wikipage was started several years ago. Even the Sesto Rocchi biographer has contributed to the information. Much of the information that is sighted including quotes, is by personal friends of Sesto Rocchi who are professionals in the field of Violin Making, and references that were made are all valid references.

To delete relevant information which adds cohesive substance to the article in my mind is vandalism. I welcome input by those who have information that would add to the article, but to claim that there are serious errors is extreme.

The page has been maintained by many who were close to Sesto Rocchi. All of the information that has been contributed is relevant and can be confirmed with the references sighted on the page in 'References' section.

Susch as:

"Sesto Rocchi’s inborn capacities, his personal involvement, the passion that inhabited him, but mostly the teachings that he received from Sgarabotto in Parma and Leandro Bisiach in Milan helped him become one of the best Italian contemporary makers. His curious mind was always on alert, and his receptive attitude toward young people interested in violin making was remarkable."

- —Gualtiero Nicolini, president of ALI (Associazione Liutaria Italiana), a teacher at the Cremona School of Violin Making, and an author of books on lutherie.

Gualtiero Nicolini,was a friend of Rocchi's.

"I feel proud to have had him as a colleague and then as a friend. The legacy left by Rocchi demonstrates that even in the 20th century, it is possible to conduct the activities of a violin maker with nobility."

- —Gianfranco Boretti, author of Rocchi's biography "Life for Violin Making"

Gianfranco Boretti was also a personal friend.

"His work is very precise and the varnish varies from a warm orange to brownish red. He was constantly occupied with varnish experiments and research. He used Stradivarian "Amatise" and Guarneri models. The sonority is always excellent". - 'Liuteria Italiana' vol. 1 - Eric Blot 1994

Eric Blot is a known expert and knwe Sesto Rocchi personally.Milliot 01:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

My friend...I understand your attachment to this article, and to that I understand your position. You must read the template carefully. It states that "This biography does not adequately cite its references or sources." I assume you understand what "citing" sources means. You have "listed" sources, but you have not "cited" them in your article. Therefore the template will stand. Secondly I must take issue with your continued refernce to "vandalism". I see you accusing editors of "vandalism" repeatedly, and now you have suggested that my removal of material that is a copyright violation, vandalism. You need to read up a little more. MSJapan removed the material in question, you reverted his edit, and I reverted it back. I suggest you understand WP definition of vandalism before you accuse other of such activities. I actively fight vandalism. I will support MSJapan's position on your article. I will not remove the citation template, because it is applicable. I suugest you simply cite sources, and clean up the article. Also beware of WP:OWN policy as well. Thank you. ThorX 02:48, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I am now aware it was a bad link. Thanks ThorX 02:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for such a quick reply. if you would be so kind as to explain the difference between "listing" sources and "citing" them. Also, I have been accused of vandalism by Emerson7 on my own page which I have created. Which is really amazing! I was just stating that out of frustration. Milliot 03:06, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, "listing" a source is where you form, literally, a listing of sources and put them at the bottom of an article. You did that just fine. To "cite" the source, you need to use footnotes in the body of the article which actually link down to that source you listed at the bottom of the article. That way when something is claimed in an article, the person will click the footnote, that takes them to the source listing, and if they chose, they can click on the source and it will take them to the outside article you are using as a source. If you aren't sure how to do all of this, look on any page that has footnotes listed in the body and click "edit", and look at how they listed it. Then you can use that as an example for your own article. Most major articles have good footnotes. For instance, go to George W. Bush, and look at the last word in the first paragraph. You will see a number 1(footnote), click that...it will take you to the bottom of the article to that source, then click on that article and it will take you to the verifying source. This process of using footnotes and sources is called "citing" your sources. If you do that properly in your article, and everything checks out and is valid, that template will drop off in a heartbeat. I hope that helps. ThorX 03:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have done some citing, can you see and let me know what you think. Thank you. Milliot 04:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you send me an email explaining what happened? Go to my userpage aind in the tooldbox on the left click email user. Thanks! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 04:06, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have done some 'citing', can you take a look and let me know what you think. Thank you. Milliot 04:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I added a reference template and cited the source. Use my example and go ahead and cite the rest. If you have trouble understanding it just let me know. It might be tomorrow before I can get back to check. ThorX 04:31, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Alfred Lamy[edit]

OK. It is cleaned up. In this case, Voirin, is François Nicolas Voirin the teacher of Joseph Alfred Lamy. Voirin was one of the great makers of the 19th century along with his predecessors François Tourte, Dominique Peccatte, Jean Pierre-Marie Persois, and Etienne Pajeot. He (Voirin) played a key role in the evolution of the Great French tradition of Bowmaking, and it goes without saying that his influence on his students and followers is part of the history (that I am trying to describe here). It is also important to show lineage, since many are not aware who came first and who studied with whom etc.

Also, please note that Alfred Lamy and Joseph Alfred Lamy are not the same person. You have linked the talk back page to Alfred Lamy. They are two different people.

Joseph Alfred Lamy is the uncle of Alfred Lamy who was not as notable.

Could you please remove the clean up template now? thank you in advance.Milliot 02:24, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me take a look at it and see how it is. I didn't the talk page back, look at the article history and you might find out there who did that and send them a note. ThorX 02:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear ThorX,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel Bryant 08:32, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Colorado[edit]

The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. Several users have asked us to reactivate WikiProject Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. Many articles about Colorado need to be updated and many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs some new featured articles.

Can you help us? Please see our list of some requested articles. If you would like to remain an active member of WikiProject Colorado, please leave me a message at User talk:Buaidh or e-mail me at Special:EmailUser/Buaidh. If you cannot help right now, you can go to inactive status and then reactivate your status later. Thanks for any help you can provide. Yours aye,  Buaidh  17:30, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Colorado Wiknic[edit]

Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject Colorado[edit]

It was recently suggested that WikiProject Colorado, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semi-active and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there haven't been much active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. Another user has added the project to the WPUS template and I added it to the list of supported projects in the WPUS main project page but before I take any further action I wanted to contact each of the active members for their input. --Kumioko (talk) 23:51, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Wikimedia events in Missouri and Kansas![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
