Hi, I see that you just added a non-existing cat. You are not improving this article. I edited it very carefully and I thin k it is you who needs to discuss these drastic chnages that are against policy. There are a lot of things that Wikipedia is not. One of them is that it is not intended to be a users manual for anything, not even PubMed. Hello, I hope this is the right place to put this message - I'm new to Wikipedia cooperative editing. In any case -

Dear Thorwald, I have seen you took some interest in the Debye-Waller factor article. About a month ago I thoroughly corrected and expanded it; still, I have identified major problems with it that I didn't manage to resolve myself (I'm not an expert in the topic) - they are described in its discussion page. Source for Tycho Brahe quotation

Do you recall the source from which you obtained the quotation you added to the article Tycho Brahe with this edit? Until yesterday, a request for a citation had been open for more than two years. All the sources I have been able to find are tertiary sources which post-date the addition of the quotation to Wikipedia, and either cite Wikipedia as their source or provide no source whatever. This also applies to the source which another editor has recently provided but regards—correctly, in my opinion—as unsatisfactory. Thank you for any assistance you might be able to give.

Again, this quote by Tycho is found in just about _any_ book relating to Tycho and/or his work. Here is another example. Thank you for your reply, and for going to the trouble of looking up other references. I'm sorry I didn't make it clearer that I had in fact already done extensive google, google book, and google scholar searches for material containing the quotation, and so was already aware of both the books you have given links for. The problem with them, as I noted in my original query, is that they're tertiary sources which provide no information whatever about their own sources for the quotation (although Nardo's book does at least contain a bibliography). I don't consider such sources reliable for such details, and especially not for details which, as in this case, cannot be found in several of the most authoritative scholarly secondary sources, such as Dreyer's Tycho Brahe, Thoren's The Lord of Uraniborg, Christianson's On Tycho's Island, Christianson's Tycho Brahe and Prague or Mosley's Bearing the Heavens.
I can confirm from reliable sources—such as those for which I have just given links—that the quotation does accurately depict Tycho's attitudes and activities in 1563, and could well be something that he might have said. However, there are very good reasons for doubting that anything like it occurs in what little of his writings have survived from that period. I very much suspect that if the quotation could be tracked back to a primary origin it will be found to have suffered some distortiion from Chinese whispers, and had an incorrect date assigned to it. The primary source commonly cited by scholars as documenting Tycho's activities and attitudes during the period in question are his recollections published some 35 years later in Astronomiæ instauratæ mechanica. Here is a case in point with some extracts translated into English.
Can you remember the title of the book you obtained the quotation from, or the name of it's author? It might provide another source, and that would make it worth my while trying to track down a copy.

OK-so can you give me a better clue? Should I put the "controversy" in with the cultural section? That actually was my 1st instinct, but everything in that category, (so far) looked to be fictional. That is why I started the new section. A news source should be OK for that (cultural) section? (the source that you deleted was a news site unrelated to the person involved with the controversy). Please reinstate all previous deletions referring to Professor Thomas Borody and his work on the fecal bacteriotherapy page. His entire history has been removed from the page, despite being the modern day champion of fecal bacteriotherapy, having performed the procedure for the past 20 years, long before its recent acceptance into the medical community. Audacity is avaliable for Linux or GNU/Linux

"We don't do that here" I was given a link to Wikipedia:Neutral POV so I suppose that's the problem. I'm confused now because Audacity website says software is avaliable on GNU/Linux. I'm avare of the controversy about the naming of Linux vs GNU/Linux so I will refrain from such edits.

María Belón Alvárez ?

Template:Reflist says that column-count is a deprecated parameter that "should no longer be used." If you're going to continue reformatting hundreds of reflists to use multiple columns, please use "|30em" instead of "|2", in order to accommodate multiple screen sizes.   • I do not agree. The clarification is needed. For an example, in "...including NetFlow, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP and 802.1ag", are "LACP" and "802.1ag" both interfaces, both protocols, or one of the other? The Oxford comma clarifies that they are not necessarily related. A rule-of-thumb on WP (I have been editing over 11 years now) is that the Oxford comma should be used unless there is a really good reason not to use it. --Thorwald (talk) 21:18, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Please see MOS:SERIAL, which doesn't mandate serial comma at all, and suggests its use only when clarifying ambiguous sentences. As I've said above, in this case there's next to no potential for ambiguity as all of the sentences you've edited are written clearly with plain lists. Let's analyze your example a bit furher, here's the complete sentence:
As a software implementation of a virtual multilayer network switch, Open vSwitch is designed to enable effective network automation through programmatic extensions, while supporting standard management interfaces and protocols, including NetFlow, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP and 802.1ag.

You're at three reverts. There is nothing to discuss. You made a change and, made it seem like it was nothing more than routine formatting when in essence, it was applying serial commas, which are not used in the rest of the article (save "starring Ryan Gosling, and Harrison Ford reprising his role" due to lack of confusion). There is only one other place in the article that does not use logical punctuation ("...with David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass and Lennie James joining in July..."). I missed that one, otherwise I would have made the edit there as well. PS: It is a bit hypocritical of you to accuse me of "edit warring" when you did just as many reverts as I did. And, no. I am not at "three reverts". Only two. As such, I have removed your uncalled for "warning". I have been editing Wikipedia for over 12 years now. Nor is your edit warring (again, hypocritical and you have a history of it). Punctuation is formatting, by definition. It is called logical punctuation for a reason (e.g., consider "Alice, Bob and Mary" vs. "Alice, Bob, and Mary" and "John, Mum and Dad" vs. "John, Mum, and Dad". I'll assume good faith and comment that you missed "with [[David Dastmalchian]], [[Hiam Abbass]] and [[Lennie James]]". So there was only one (unnecessary) serial comma and you added two more. The article now has none. They're not necessary. I have better things than to correct editors who insist that serial commas are somehow better than keeping them out. Cheers.
