I would like to add a sentence and 2 references to storage and transport section of the article. I have carried out postharvest research on bananas for over 25 years and several of my papers, authored by K.J.Scott et al already appear. I seek approval to add the suggested material which, I believe will assist subsistent–– farmers to hold their bananas longer for their own use.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Here are suggested readings: WP:SECONDARY and WP:COI. The gist of these guidelines are:

Wikipedia prefers citations to reviews and books, not primary journal references (many tens of thousands appear annually). Citing secondary sources is the encyclopedic style.
Do not cite yourself or your colleagues. It's called conflict of interest. Many new editors cite themselves mainly. That behavior is unacceptable.
