Proposed merger of Carolinas Medical Center articles[edit]

As the author of the articles on CMC, I would advise going against the merger proposal because each hospital with the exceptions of CMC-Main, CMC-Mercy, CMC-Pineville, and CMC-University were once independent of one another before becoming a part of Carolinas Healthcare System. When you attempt to merge the articles, all you will be left with is one long article that will need to be subdivided into the appropriate pages. Even if you believe that merging the pages is the correct course of action, I will do whatever it takes to make sure each hospital is reincorporated into the new page. I would definitely keep all the current information, I just think that (as they currently stand) there is a significant amount of overlapping information, and could be better displayed in a timeline-like format, a kind of "History of CMC" (to me, that is almost what is online now)

I would display it in several sections, like so:

Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy 185-bed adult health tertiary acute care care facility located in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. The hospital was founded in 1906 as Mercy Hospital by the Sisters of Mercy, and purchased by Carolinas Healthcare System in 1995. CMC-Mercy is the first Catholic hospital ever built in North Carolina. Today, CMC-Mercy is a leader in providing the adult population of Charlotte with quality health care. The hospital is also home to several of Carolinas Healthcare system's specialty departments, including Pulmonary and Pain Management facilities. It is a facility of Carolinas Healthcare System, one of the nation's largest publicly owned, not-for-profit hospital operators.

I'll look into it, depends on how much more relevant information i can dig up. based on some of the other NC hospital systems wikipages (Duke University Health System, WakeMed) it doesn't look like there is much relevant information beyond what is already in the 5 stubs, but they can always be expanded into full articles in the future. -TinGrin 04:10, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
