Hi! Mark Twain is one of the articles on my watch list. I noticed your recent edits there. Thank you for catching the bad URL and replacing it with a new source. However I found it necessary to revert two changes you made in the first edit:

  1. I restored "Twain was raised in Hannibal" since there were already two mentions of his birthplace, in the infobox and in the "Early life" section.
  2. I restored the single sentence "Mark Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri, the sixth of seven children born to Jane (née Lampton; 1803–1890), a native of Kentucky, and John Marshall Clemens (1798–1847), a native of Virginia." because the division into two sentences left "The sixth of seven children born to Jane (née Lampton; 1803–1890), a native of Kentucky, and John Marshall Clemens (1798–1847), a native of Virginia." without a verb.

Major articles like this have been around on Wikipedia for a long time, and consequently have picked up errors like the bad URL because the website is no longer hosted, and repetition of information. Sometimes it is necessary to read a whole section, or even the entire article to discover what changes need to be made. This article needs a rewrite to improve its readability and organization. If you come back to Mark Twain, perhaps you can begin at the top and make a list of changes that should be made. If you post suggestions on the article talk page I'll be glad to help improve the text. (the original research tag means the the article has citations for all of its statements.
