The Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 Barnstar

Video game controversy template

Hi Tokisaki Kurumi,

Please don't undo a revert, I suggest you follow WP:BRD: bold, revert, discuss.

The article Yang Yongxin barely mentions video games at all, and that's mostly because of your edits to the article. I think you're bordering on WP:SYNTH / WP:OR to have Yang Yongxin mentioned. He might be a controversial figure, but he's only mentioned once in the custom WP:VG/RS search engine, and not in relation to video games: "China bans electro-shock for treating Internet addicts, far too late to help McMurphy". Doesn't seem to me he should be included. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 15:18, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

@Soetermans: Hi Soetermans. Sorry for the BRD which I'm not that familiar with (I'm mainly active on Chinese Wikipedia and in most cases there BRD is applied when a 3RR occurs). For the issue itself, my answer is yes and no. I agree that the current version may not be listed because its low quality, but I do think this guy is worth mentioning here. The main question here is that English medias give a very limited coverage of the thing (compared to Chinese medias). I'm not sure to what extent can I extend because I do not really know about the academic coverage of him, but I will have a try. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 15:25, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
@Soetermans: Also I would like you to help since I'm, again, not that familiar with some writing guides of the Wikiproject Video games. Thanks in advance! ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 15:39, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
No worries. Different Wikipedias, different etiquettes. If I'm not mistaken, WP:VG is one of the most active WikiProjects and the list of sources are gone through thoroughly. But those are mainly video game focused though. If you can find mainstream sources that specifically mention video games and Yang, than it would make sense adding him. I'm quite busy outside of Wikipedia, but if you have a question, I'll try to reply ASAP. Or of course, stop by WP:VG! Thanks, and happy editing. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 16:28, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Thank you for the reply Tokisaki Kurumi. Eric MacEachern (talk) 20:28, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
Giving someone a barnstar for "replying" feels insincere, Eric MacEachern. You've been active since February 9. You've got four edits to your name, half of which are about spreading a conspiracy theory. You've had no real interaction with Tokisaki Kurumi.
Tokisaki Kurumi, it's up to you do what you want with this barnstar and comment. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 20:42, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
@Soetermans: TBH, Idc. I got about ten comments on Chinese Wikipedia per year, and about 2-3 medals per year. However, for me, one media cite is more important than all these. I don't think I am going to put any medals into my user page in the near future. And... it is good to know that someone knows me and has an eye on this page. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 21:20, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Historiography of the Chinese Communist Revolution

There are a lot of different projects that I'm working on at the moment, but I'd be happy to assist if you start one. I'm moving the discussion here since its only tangentially relevant to the template. SilverStar54 (talk) 16:21, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

I wanted to say the same thing for various reasons ... so what are you going to write now? I thought I might be able to help some. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 20:56, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Baizuo

The article Baizuo you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Baizuo for comments about the article, and Talk:Baizuo/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Edit warring

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war on at least four articles: Chinese New Left, Template:Chinese New Left, Li Minqi, and Template:Contemporary Chinese political thought. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Please also familiarize yourself with the three-revert rule.

Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:18, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

@Daniel Quinlan: Hi, so first, sorry about all these troubles. Last time I mentioned this to both the NPOV board and the 3RR board, but no one paid any attention to me. But anyway, I messed up recklessly, mainly because no one at SPI has been doing something about it. Sorry about all these and I will wait for the SPI from now on. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 19:27, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Template:Chinese New Left. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:02, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Tokisaki Kurumi (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Dear administrators, I want to inform you that User:92.88.117.66 is clearly a sock of User:维基中二群体代表 (See also Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1139#User:92.88.117.66 as sock, edit history of Left-wing Youth (China)). As far as I know I did not receive an interaction ban or a topic ban, so I have to say that Daniel Quinlan's action confuses me since that it's fine to revert a blocked account or evasive account which would not constitutes an edit-warring, therefore I request an unblock. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 10:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Accept reason:

They may be a sockpuppet, but you need to make it clear in your edit summaries that you are reverting a suspected sockpuppet. Edit summaries like Even if these belong to such category, I do not see that they EXCLUSIVELY belong to that one. and they belong to the Left-wing Youth category indicate you are in a content dispute with another editor, not that you are reverting a suspected sockpuppet. I am lifting the ban, but please be clearer in your edit summaries in the future. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 15:54, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Page protection

I also semi-protected Template:Chinese New Left for 6 months due to persistent sockpuppetry. If they resume disruption on Chinese New Left or other previously targeted pages, you may wish to make a request on WP:RFPP, but please include the sockpuppet case and try to limit any requests for protection to pages that have been targeted multiple times and recently. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 16:09, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

@Daniel Quinlan: First things first, thanks for the lifting and the protection. I now further understand the situation, but it seems I should go a little further with some explanation: that user had once accepted some reviews in the past (e.g. edit history of Si Manan on Chinese Wikipedia), but of course has now become more "fundamental". My text being quoted above was posted because I think that my opinion might be accepted like before, and thus avoid an edit war in the future, but I didn't anticipate any further misunderstandings. Cheers. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 16:49, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Invite to Join Wikipedia Asian Month 2023

You are receiving this message because you participated in the Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 as an organizer or editor.

Join the Wikipedia Asian Month 2023

Dear all,

The Wikipedia Asian Month 2023[1] is coming ! The campaign start within a flexible 30 days from November to December. Following with the changes of the rules made by last year, the wish to have more people get to know Asia and Asian related topic is the same! Click "Here" to Organize/Join a WAM Event.

1. Propose "Focus Theme" related to Asia !

If you are based somewhere in Asia, or have specific passion on an Asian topic, please propose your "Focus Theme" by October 25th. The WAM international team will select 5 themes. Please propose your focus theme through this link[2].

2. Enhancing existing articles can also count as part of campaign contribution.

Any edits, including creating new articles or adding new content to existing articles, over 3000 bytes in total would be able to get a reward. Last year, due to this change of rules, the Programs & Events Dashboard was suggested. However, according to community survey of 2022, Fountain Tool is still the best platform for tracking edit and points. You don’t need to create any Dashboard. For the tracking of editing existing article, the international team is currently designing a form. Will soon publish to the main page of WAM 2023.

3. More flexible campaign time

The contribution duration would remain 30days, but we extended the overall campaign timeline to 2 months. All organizers can decide when to start their WAM as long as the whole duration is within November 1st to December 31th. It means that you can participate in WAM based on the needs of your local community.

Timetable

  • October 1st, 2023 : Publish International Campaign Page of the Year
  • October 5th to 25th, 2023 : Call for focus themes of WAM 2023.
  • Before 29 October, 2023: Complete Registration [3] of Each language Wikipedia.
  • November 1st, UTC 00:00 to December 31th, UTC 00:00, 2023: Running the Campaign. (Find your local campaign for the actual event date.)
  • January 1st to March 15th, 2024: Auditing of each language Wikipedia.
  • March 30th, 2024: Deadline of reporting statistics and eligible editors to the International Team
  • April 1st to May 15th, 2024: The international team distributes Barnstars and Certificates to eligible editors of each event.

For your information, the main page of Wikipedia Asian Month is currently undertaking a reconstruction for archiving purpose. For the 2023 event please bookmarked this page.
