Hello[edit]

Hello Tomlea97, thanks for joining Wikipedia.

My talk page was the correct place to contact me - I won't reply to your email address, but I'll answer your questions here.

I apologise if I have offended you, and perhaps on reflection my edit summary was a little harsh (I was probably having a bad day). However, my reason for deleting your content is simply that the section you added to is designed to be made up of summaries of the Dad's Army characters, which then link to separate articles on them. Unfortunately, most of the content you added already exists in these biographies. However, these biographies are relatively short at the moment, so if you could contribute new material to them that would be great. Another problem with the content you added is that it was not particularly encyclopedic in terms of grammar and punctuation, and by this I mean that you did not use capital letters or full stops, which made them rather awkward to read. Therefore, keeping them would have meant virtually re-writing their content.

I appreciate that you meant well, and it's great that we both have an interest in one of the best sitcoms ever. I hope I have not deterred you from writing on here - how about joining Wikiproject Dad's Army? Bob 23:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dad's Army[edit]

Hello, thanks for joining Wikiproject Dad's Army. I realise that I must be becoming increasingly unpopular in your books, but I have had to remove the episode guide you posted on the main Dad's Army page because it was copyrighted material from phill.co.uk. We are not allowed to paste significant material from internet sources without making large changes. What you could do, though, is use internet sites such as that as a reference to write pages about the Dad's Army episodes. On that page, all of the red links are articles on episodes that are yet to be written, so why not start your first article about a Dad's Army episode?

All you need to do is copy the design and layout of a previous episode page, for example The Deadly Attachment, and then write a detailed plot summary, broadcast dates, etc about that episode. There are lots of them still unwritten, some of them quite famous episodes, so I'm sure there must be an episode you like there. If you have any problems with the formatting, just ask one of the Dad's Army project members. Also, it's worth reading a few of the tips on writing articles in the box I have added at the top of this page. Bob 15:58, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the recent edit you made to Sandbach School has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. June 2009[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on Talk:The Green Mile (film), you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 15:44, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
