Disambiguation link notification for June 22[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Manerinerina, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Diego Suarez. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:59, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tonton Bernardo, please take some time away from editing Wikipedia. I'm sorry you are feeling frustrated but your ranting could lead to a block if you don't stop attacking other editors. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Inhabited and uninhabited[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for all your edits. You might want to check that you are using these words correctly. Inhabited is when people live there, and uninhabited is when no-one lives there. "Habited" is pretty useless and really just means, archaically, that someone is wearing clothes (a habit) or maybe that they have a habit, but both meanings are unlikely. Another way to think about this is that if you live in a place you INhabit it! Sorry about this - it is a bit of a mess like "inflammable" but it really really is this way round, as I have described. Hope this helps, all good wishes, DBaK (talk) 23:15, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Manandriana (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Andaingo (desambiguation) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andaingo (desambiguation) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

Leschnei (talk) 12:50, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andaingo (desambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 12:56, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Isinko moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Isinko, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Let me be clear, you have been blocked multiple times for personal attacks, and you continued to do so, even on your own talk page. Additionally, if you were to be unblocked, you MUST change your signature as it violates our rules on custom signatures. RickinBaltimore (talk) 14:40, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just for my own info, what element of CUSTOMSIG/P does the user's signature violate? Ravenswing 14:25, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That would be
A customised signature should make it easy to identify your username. from WP:CUSTOMSIG/P and the more detailed
Signatures that link to, but do not display, the user's username (for example by signing with a nickname, as in User:Nickname or Nickname) can be confusing for editors (particularly newcomers). The actual username always appears in the page history, so using just the nickname on the relevant talk page can make your signed comments appear to be from a different person from WP:SIGPROB WormTT(talk) 14:53, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be quoting only part of the guideline. For my part, I glanced down at the bit that states "It is common practice for a signature to resemble to some degree the username it represents." Why doesn't it require that one does so? Well, following on to the inline note, I read "A 2021 RfC was closed with consensus against signatures being required to correspond exactly to usernames and no consensus to require that signatures be easily recognizable to a new user as referring to the username they link to."

While it's likely a moot point, no, Tonton Bernardo's custom signature is not a "violation" of any rule, nor "must" he change it should he ever cease to be indeffed. There is a large difference between "People ought to" and "People are required to." Don't mind me: I'm just opposed to insisting that editors follow rules that don't actually exist. Ravenswing 03:24, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to slightly disagree with RickinBaltimore in as much as I think Tonton Bernardo is here to build an encyclopedia. The problem is that his style of communication when he disagrees with something is completely unacceptable and a flat-out violation of the no personal attacks policy to the extent that an indefinite block is appropriate anyway.
