Your weird[edit]

No, no, no, you have that user all wrong. If he meant that you WERE weird, he would have said "You're weird." But the difference between "you're" and "your" is so simple, even children know it, so he clearly meant what he said when he said "your weird." As in, it is your wyrd, your fate, to be eternally tormented by Wikivandals. Maybe you committed atrocities in a past life. -FisherQueen (Talk) 21:43, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for helping me understand sprotect better, I didnt even know! I just recently got addicted to the "seek and destroy vandals" mindset. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Virek (talkcontribs) 12:04, 18 January 2007 (UTC). [reply]

I *guess* that'll work. :P[edit]

The key thing to remember is how lazy I am. Seriously, though, that's very succinct and helpful. It's short enough that people will probably read it. Thanks. -- Merope 19:16, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can't you just get a shorter username? (Sorry, I'm in a terribly silly mood today.) -- Merope 19:27, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh, grrr. Long sigs make me cranky. And, for some reason I can't explain, I really don't like sigs that use piping--like "--Elizabeth"? Except for Guy's. So, if I ever become supreme dictator of Wikipedia, look for that to be the first thing to go. -- Merope 20:37, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indonesian Music and blocked user[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Music_of_Indonesia&diff=next&oldid=101536048

I cannot make sense as to whether the edit with abuse at Indonesian Music came before the block - SatuSuro 13:03, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow thank you very much for your detailed response - whew! Thanks for going to the trouble - I suppose I was trying to ascertain whether it was a beligerent trying to get around... but I expect your block came as they were doing their lasyt bit. I just get so tired as a non admin trying to work out whether to go to WP AIV or admins whom I know who are online. Like the vandal at History about an hour ago - I reckon from their edit record today really want an admins attnetion! SatuSuro 13:29, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing you are on - No one has touched this one -User:81.109.164.2 - I'd think I should point the finger...SatuSuro 13:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup - I am aware of the protocols - but at least you know. I am intrigued by patterns of vandalism and timezones - I could wax lyrically over this issue.but thanks for responding I appreciate it!

RE: My username[edit]

No, I'm not called Walton; it's a pseudonym based on where I live, which is, indeed, one of the Waltons in England (although not any of the ones you mentioned). (Since I've been on Wikipedia nearly a year, I'm surprised you're the first person to ask!)Walton monarchist89 18:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From LOTLSX-70[edit]

Hi Tony, thanks for your feedback. I wasn't aware of Wikipedia's restrictions on commercial links - but I definitely see the wisdom in it. I modified the External link on the SX-70 camera listing to go to my online image gallery of SX-70 photos - this way the users can see what the film is capable of. I hope that's cool. Sweet lord almighty[edit]

If your comment on FQ's page is construed as a personal attack, well, then, we have some people who can't understand joking between friends. Which, well, isn't that surprising.  ;) Being an admin on WP hasn't changed me except to make it easier to do NPP, which is my favorite chore. I think that FisherQueen would be a great administrator in that respect. Anyway, you're completely free to tease me as you see fit -- it may be hard to forge "internet friendships", but I definitely consider you one of my friends. And that means you may mock at will.  ;) -- Merope 07:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Hi. I see you'd commented on WP:AIV that 86.8.18.166 hadn't vandalised past their final warning at 01:03 UTC. However they'd already been given a test4 by Wolfkeeper at 00:54 and went on to hit Human penis size yet again at 00:57, closely followed by Wolfkeeper's user and talk pages. So I've gone ahead and blocked them for 31 hours. Regards, Tonywalton  | Talk 01:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, my bad. I'm still getting the hang of this. Thanks for picking up the slack. :) --Brad Beattie (talk) 01:19, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Also take a look at WP:UTM. Looks like the old warnings are being deprecated in favour of some new ones. --Brad Beattie (talk) 01:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thanks for your support in my RfA. I withdrew when it became clear that the uphill climb had crossed the snowball threshold, but I appreciate your support and the process gave me some good ideas for other ways I can be contributing to Wikipedia. I'll work on the areas that came up in the discussion, and try again after I've gained wider experience.

I appreciate your encouragement. Even though it didn't go quite the way I'd hoped, I got some good ideas, and it was a good experience. -FisherQueen (Talk) 12:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

deletion process[edit]

You left quite a few red links after deleting List of common phrases based on stereotypes. Please don't forget to clean up. `'mikka 23:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

A small, niggling and pedantic feature request[edit]

In regard to this, I have implemented it[1] any also added catches for common periods of time. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 17:04, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you substitute the template while you use it, next time? Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick 12:47, 25 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

See you soon![edit]

Sorry to hear about your loss, there'll be light at the end of the tunnel I'm sure though. Enjoy your little break away (no doubt you'll be hunting down the nearest internet cafe though as the wiki-cravings set in!). Anyway, take it easy and I'll see you when your back RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 21:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have a good break... we'll just try to keep Wikipedia muddling along without you... somehow... And I'm sorry about your friend. -FisherQueen (Talk) 21:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. We'll keep the light on for you. Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) (Review me!) 12:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help over at CAT:CSD[edit]

Hi, and congrats on your promotion! Per this discussion, I'm dropping a friendly note to some of the recently-promoted admins requesting help with speedy deletions. I am not an administrator, so if you don't feel comfortable diving into deletions - or if you need more info - please don't come to me, but I'm sure that Cyde Weys would be happy to guide you if you want to help. Any help is great, but I'm sure that Cyde and others would deeply appreciate it if you could put the page on your watchlist and do a bit of work there on a regular basis? Maybe weekly? Thanks in advance! Oh and if you're already working away on CSD please disregard this message; it's not meant as a slight against any hard work you're already doing. Cheers! Category:English football referees[edit]

Hi, Tony. I happened to notice that, in the Category list of what is supposed to be notable English football referees, the name of Neil Warnock was included. It appears that your Category addition at a past point in time caused him to be added. Whilst I appreciate that he no doubt has a qualification at whatever Level you care to mention (as did I), his notability is as a Football Manager, not as a football referee. You can appreciate that, if tenuous links were to be applied throughout Wikipedia, we'd have some very strange results indeed. I have removed Neil from the Category, to keep good order. Hope there's no offence taken, none intended. Refsworldlee(chew-fat) 00:31, 4 February 2007 (UTC) [reply]

When are you back??[edit]

Hi Tony, just wondering if you could let me know when your back. I'm planning to email you and ask a few questions but I'll do it when your off your wikibreak so I don't miss anything.
