Speedy deletions[edit]

{{wi}} is an established template, and is never to be speedy deleted. --SPUI (talk) 19:49, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That is the only use of {{wi}}, as the shorter {{wiktionary}} is used when there is more to the article. --SPUI (talk) 20:01, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The idea is to prevent a dicdef from being formed by someone typing in the word and saying "hmmm, there's no article here". The following doesn't apply in this case, but often it is a word that is linked from other articles, and having a link to the definition is useful. --SPUI (talk) 20:17, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cuervo[edit]

Duh. I should've known that "Jose Cuervo" was the name of the brand. I'd always just heard it called "Cuervo", and the mascot "Cuervo Man" or something. Beer man myself. ;) —BrianSmithson 21:36, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greatest College Basketball Game Ever[edit]

I noticed you were part of the group that decidede to delete the articlwe I wrote on "The Greatest College Basketball Game Ever"

If I would have included more reviews from credible observers, would that have made a difference?

I'm new to contributing......

Thanks, H2eddsf3

Dates[edit]

(transplanted from the IP page) Thanks to some WikiMagic, the various date formats 25 November, November 25 and 2005-11-25 all render the same depending on your settings, thus it doesn't really matter what format is used, since nobody sees the mixed versions unless they poke at the code. HTH, Chris talk back 10:57, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Odd, for me, with my preferences set as day-month-year, 2005-11-25 appears in the article rendered as "25 November, 2005", rather than as 2005-11-25. Reasonable point re: consistency though. Of course, if we want to be really anal, since Geroge Best is from Northern Ireland, the dates should be inserted into the code in UK format (day-month-year) :-) Chris talk back 11:10, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
(Silly question, but we all make mistakes sometimes) Have you set a preferred date format in your ... oh, right. Best keep to one format then. Chris talk back 11:33, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Howard Reiche nanostub[edit]

Hi, Tony. Bear with me on this one. User:Maoririder is one of only a couple of autistic users and he doesn't always get the articles right straight out of the box. He even nominated his own work for AfD when he saw your properly placed speedy.  :) I'm trying to find out what I can about this guy and expand the article, so I removed the speedy notice for now. Thanks for understanding. - Lucky 6.9 17:53, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tony, you rock, dude. Thanks for understanding. Normally, I'd have pulled the trigger on a nanostub like that in a nanosecond. Still waiting to hear from the principal of the grade school as to who this guy was/is. - Lucky 6.9 23:14, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I guess I'm sorta-kinda his unofficial mentor, but I tell you what: It would be a good lesson for him if some of these teeny little half-sentences were shot on sight per policy. No complaints here. - Lucky 6.9 23:45, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Context-free edit[edit]

I am one of the organisers of The Modern Times Club. We found the original article to be the most accurate representation so far of what the club is, whether on the internet or other media, as befits wikipedia, and as such would request that it be reinstated. I hope this is the correct way to go about this; I have created this wiki account for this sole purpose.

As for the comments about not enough context - I'm not sure I understand exactly what more anyone wanted, but would be happy to supply any supplementary information to the article.

Many thanks,

David Piper Wyndham Piper 15:58, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

I wish Mr Piper, whoever he may be, had actually left some context on that... Tonywalton  | Talk 14:23, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
