Welcome[edit]

Hello, Darth Panda, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We're glad to have you in our community! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make mistakes at some point, here is what Wikipedia is not, which might help you out. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or ask me. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Happy editing! Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 20:53, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with the Reeves page. That one character, who has many sockpuppets as well as various anon logons, has been posting that weird stuff for a month or two. They had the Reeves page blocked for a week or so, and he waited patiently and started doing it again once it was unblocked. At the advice of another user, I've stopped vainly attempting to communicate with he/she/it, I just revert silently. Wahkeenah 00:04, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear Darth Panda,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.1 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that unfortunately you do not meet the 250 mainspace edit minimum - please try again in a few weeks. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

re:Userpage[edit]

Anytime, DarthPanda; I know you'd do the same for mine. However, I'd like to remind you that it is always necessary to subst warnings. As I was warning the vandal, 129.170.118.159, for messing around with your userpage, I noticed that you hadn't done that subst'd your warning for him/her. Please try to always do so. Re: Jamie_Eldridge_PictureA.JPG[edit]

I feel my issue is similar to other uploaders. When was I notified that this file will be speedily deleted? And why did that image not work? I could not find a single photo of Jamie anywhere on the web that is under a free license. Darth Panda (talk) 00:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You yourself put the deletion tag on the image when you uploaded it, that's why you didn't get any notification. You should have read the warning dialog that appeared in the "license" section. James Eldridge is still alive and a public figure, so it's reasonable for someone to go and take a photo of him and release them under a free license. Melesse (talk) 01:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed your anti-vandalism work with popups, so I decided to give you the rollback tool. It's a handy button that allows speedy reversion without any .js stuff. You can try it out here. Remember not to use it for edit warring or on good-faith edits. bibliomaniac15 03:50, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Culture of Trinidad and Tobago[edit]

All respect to you Mr. Panda. When I saw that my contribution was deleted about Chutney from Trinidad and Tobago, I just bent over wounded and surrendered; but first I did not know or understand what hit me. WHY? Because, I thought that I was volunteering information as an eye or ear witness since as a musician, all these things happened in front my eyes. I really believed it would've been appreciated.

I couldn't understand how my input could be vandalism. I ask myself. Doesn't this have a feature marked 'edit?' Did I not leave the original writings alone?

With great respect, I am still confused. I repeat, that I am from Trinidad and Tobago born in 1950, learnt more music at St Benedict's College, observed and furthered my knowledge (exams and practical). If my intention was to vandalize, I would have deleted and inserted cusswords or something. I am still staggering in amazement as to what I did that is offensive. I remember sometime ago, my edit about St Benedict's College was deleted. There again. I went to school there, and knew for example that I met and left a form six there while the Site said otherwise. I sent 2 photos of myself in school and Band uniform, the only photo representing the Military band etc etc. I chose to take my time to give this free truth and it is deleted. Respectfully I am confused.

With respect to Chutney (Chatney or Chatni) as I said, I was there. Is it because I said Tourists to Trinidad come and pronounce things differently, then proceed to spell OUR things how THEY pronounce them? Should they not learn the pronounciation and spelling from us as we do or should do when we go abroad? Again, I ask myself: "WHAT IS IT?" Even though I know I am correct about the Chatney story, having read articles from Indians, having been exposed (lived at and close to)and taught by the East Indians, I STILL WENT BROWSING THE NET and found experts from India and otherwise SAYING THE SAME about the word being Chatni and not Chutney. They all say that Chutney is English spelling.

Now I do not know if I should beg for mercy or not. My intention is to assist, not to vandalize or should I open my own page with my own eyewitness account of Trinidad and Tobago? Would you allow me to do this? trevorcjoseph@yahoo.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.222.75.240 (talk) 18:36, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citizendium[edit]

Excuse me mate, but how would you know whether my contribution was 'vandalism' or not? The vandal-detecting program which you're using appears, on its page, to be urging people not to use it because it's 'broken' - surely by continuing to use it you're going to end up, somehow, putting yourself in a position of looking like a twat (after it deletes something perfectly legitimate - the risk of which is, I assume, why it has been declared to be broken...) I would sign my comment but I don't bloody know how... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.211.209.22 (talk) 18:59, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Darth Panda about northland removal[edit]

Hi Darth Panda

I am new to Wikipedia and are still learning. However my complete deletion of Northland was no mistake since I believe the article is very biased and does not have base in reality with verifiable sources it directly violates Wikipedias rule of being objective in contribution which Ingoman is not.

Economic Rescue Bill[edit]

Why is "On October 1, 2008 Senator Brown voted yea for the Economic Rescue Bill, against the wishes of his constituency." considered vandalism? I realize there is an appearance of opinion with the use of the phrase "against the wishes..."; but it is factual. It is also constructive to note the voting record of important records as a part of bio. Would it be more palatable to say "On October 1, 2008 Senator Brown voted yea for the Economic Rescue Bill."? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.109.106.45 (talk) 20:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggested some corrections & they've been deleted immediately. What is your connection with Yarm ?

I have lived there for 37 years. Levendale (estate) has never been known as Ingleby Grange.

The correct name for the Catholic church on Yarm is not St Mary and St Romuald, it is Ss Mary & Romuald. See http://middlesbrough-diocese.org.uk/parishes/ss-mary-and-romuald-yarm/

There is a good digital virtual tour of Yarm at http://www.digital-yarm.com/virtual_tour.phtml You might care to seek permission to add it to the site.

Catalina Highway[edit]

Hochard (talk) 13:11, 5 October 2008 (UTC)October 5, 2008.[reply]

The Wikipedia page Catalina Highway is completely incorrect. Catalina Highway begins at Tanque Verde Road, in the City of Tucson limits, and terminates at Mount Lemmon Short Road in Pima County jurisdiction. How do I know? Well to start off with I have thoroughly researched this topic with the aide of the Coronado National Forest Services Archeologist William Gillespie, second I have written an article in our agency paper. I will concede that most Tucsonans are not aware of the name change at Mount Lemmon Short Road, which is Mile Post 0 Mount Lemmon Highway (where Catalina Highway terminates and Mount Lemmon Highway begins).

Even less familiar to Tucsonans, unfortunately, is that Mount Lemmon Highway terminates at Butterfly Road. This is where General Hitchcock Highway begins and terminates at Turkey Run Road (mile post 24.774), (yes I know the roadway limit to the thousandth of a mile), in the Village of Summerhaven. The road continues through the Village of Summerhaven as Sabino Canyon Park, again frequently incorrectly identified at Sabino Canyon (parkway, park road, and even parkway road), and terminates at Marshall Gulch, which is closed via a gate during the evening hours. General Hitchcock Hy is named after Frank Harris Hitchcock, former U.S. Postmaster General, former Tucsonan, responsible for the creation of the Coronado National Forest, the Postal Banking system as it exists today, Air Mail, and many other respectable achievements.

Unfortunately, the Catalina Hy article as it exists is correct in one aspect... that the portion of Mount Lemmon Hy is a favorite of motorcyclists; however, I do not believe that is a responsible post considering the posted speed limit is 35 mph and many of the motorcyclists find themselves traveling in excess of the posted speed limit as do many other motorists.

So you see Darth Panda, the article Catalina Hy, as it exists is not only deficient in the name of the roadway once the author did not have the wherewithal to even know that Mount Lemmon Hy changes to General Hitchcock Hy then to Sabino Canyon Pk. Another significant deficiency that the current article misses is the existence of Rose Canyon Lake, which would have been a far better addition than the fact that the highway is a favorite of motorcyclists. After all what motorcyclists do not enjoy winding mountain roadways, no need to advertise that sort of activity in an encyclopedic format.

I would appreciate it if you would allow me to edit the page without changing it back and threatening me with deletion of my editing rights, I do understand your post that deleting almost an entire page may give the appearance of page vandalism; however, as you can now see the entire page is deficient.

Your call as to the correctness of the page. I would be happy to provide you with my credentials to support my position; however, I am not willing to post them in an open forum.

Hello + New Page Patrolling[edit]

Wow, I actually ran into you just now, and I was wasn't looking for you. BTW, you just got templated (is that better than being rickrolled?).

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:16, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Huggle seems to be having issues with marking pages as patrolled. I can see it trying to do that on the bottom (in the log) but it always fails for some odd reason. Otherwise, I would be marking those pages. And I'd far rather be templated than rickrolled... It has less embarrassment. DARTH PANDAtalk 01:20, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted you. That piece of information isn't true, and the source doe's not support it. In any case, such a claim must be given with a proper source. Broccoli (talk) 11:05, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Meleniumshane90 Page[edit]

Users are able to remove the information on their user pages. I have stopped using Wikipedia due to the abilities of other Wikipedia users to have suppremisy over my work. I would like my page removed, but I will settle for Wikipedia's guideline to removing information off ones own page.

"Users may freely remove comments from their own talk pages, though archiving is preferred. They may also remove some content in archiving. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. This specifically includes both registered and anonymous users."

This is not spam, so you should consider modifying your bot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.227.93.118 (talk) 01:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LaVan Davis[edit]

Hi, I've noticed you have been deleteing the career, and music career on LaVan Davis. I'm the IP editor who was putting LaVan Davis (Born LaVan Davis). Thanks for showing me that I don't need that. But I'm the one who has also been putting LaVan Davis's Carrer and Music Caeer. I hope it not a problem, but I put that because I tried to expand LaVan Davis. I hope it's okay if you would keep it that way. They can read it on Wikipedia and TBS.com. I hope I'm not causing problems. Thanks for your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.215.63.19 (talk) 00:28, 17 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.215.63.19 (talk)

Ping[edit]

Ping! I responded on my talk page. Cheers, DavidWS (talk) 00:39, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I proudly present to you, a VIRTUAL STAR ANCHOR (also known, according to most wikiUsers (I coined that phrase, I think), as a barnstar!) Hooray!

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For your efforts in reverting vandalism today. You have done a great job, and are still contributing as I write this! DavidWS (talk) 00:49, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the barnstar and for calling me awesome! I try! DavidWS (talk) 00:57, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly[edit]

The deletion tag itself says first thing that if you didn't create the page and don't believe it should be deleted that it is 100% okay to remove it. I don't appreciate your warnings or stop threats and, honestly, the garbage you kept reverting it to was the verifiable vandalism.

As an edit, I just saw you said you didn't mean to revert the content. But still, threatening to block my ability to edit for what the deletion tag says is appropriate conduct... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Popmarker (talkcontribs) 01:46, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Thank you for vouching for me on the ban, I appreciate it. And I am sorry about the aggressiveness in my initial communications.Popmarker (talk) 17:16, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice Award[edit]

The classiest awards always have things spelled wrong. Take this one which decided efforts might as well be spelled "effors." —Preceding unsigned comment added by YerYeller (talkcontribs) 17:36, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Darth Panda[edit]

My pleasure. The only thing for which I have a lower tolerance than attack pages is attacks on editors. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 01:25, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meh[edit]

You just reverted that edit on the random fish species. That's the third time it has been reverted, once by me. It actually is a good edit. Make sure to read the edit summary when using Huggle. (When I reverted the summary made it seem like vandalism, though I still take full blame for what I did) Cheers, DavidWS (talk) 00:35, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This has now been reverted three times! I've discussed the edit with the previous two editors on my talk page and they seem to agree. Can you please look at that first and change it back if you agree? Hackfish (talk) 00:37, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brandon Sutter[edit]

Recently co-workers of mine made an edit on the page of Brandon Sutter and you threatened to block them from the website. I respect your rigorous dislike for vandals;however, they were not trying to deface wikipedia, but mearly naive in ways to have fun. They fact that they said he was dead meant, he was dead in the soul for not being able to play the sport he loved.
