Speedy deletion of DQ Diet[edit]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages such as DQ Diet, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.Wolfrock (talk) 15:09, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding DQ Diet[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Looking through the article DQ Diet for the first time I didn't think the vandalism tag was necessary but then I did more research. I then took a look at the sources and noticed that none of them have to do with the DQ Diet. In fact, the link for Shaq refers to his fouling out of NBA games (DQ = Disqualified NOT Dairy Queen). We take sources very seriously here and everything. The rest of the celebrity tidbits linked to articles that don't have to do with anything related to the DQ diet. What you have placed here, therefore, could be construed as libel, which violates non-negotiable Wikipedia policy. Please see the blue links I have included in this note plus this one on writing your first article. Thanks and welcome, Valley2city 21:00, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To answer your request of me on my talk page, the answer is that in the form that you presented in the original article, "NO." As Valley2city points out, the article was not only full of false information, none of the sources you cited referred to what the article was talking about. In other words, the article was a complete fabrication. That is considered to be vandalism, and as such not permitted on Wikipedia. I would strongly suggest that in the future you review the information you are attempting to post in a fact-based document like a Wikipedia page -- otherwise, your career as a contributor will be short indeed. --Mhking (talk) 21:07, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Trevorfitzy. I can't undo the deletion of DQ Diet as I am not an administrator. Nor would I. Some pretty big red flags went off in my head when I read the claim that one can lose 10 or 15 kilograms in 45 days (or something like that - sorry I can't remember it exactly) and the reference was a link to a an article about eczema. The problems that lead to the page being deleted have been noted in more detail by others above. You asked for my help and the most I can offer is my advice. My advice would be to read the material linked above in the message welcoming you to Wikipedia and keep it in mind before creating your next article. Perhaps that is not the most insightful advice, but that is really where a new user should start. Also remember that Wikipedia is a collaborative writing project, so please don't feel you are "personally attacked" by "Wikipedia Bullies" when someone disagrees with you.
