Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. I feel such a links is very appropriate. The work of this journalist is highly researched and must be listened to to be appreciated. There is no charge for listing to the story and I am not affiliated with this news organization. I feel this link falls in the guidelines. Thanks Trgwilson —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trgwilson (talk • contribs) 02:30, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. I figured from your pattern of posting links all from the same basic website that you were affiliated with the site and hoped to increase traffic and promote it. Now let's see if the links survive other editors like me who will look at the pattern of postings and look at the retail sales of CDs on the www.theamericanstoryteller.com site and think "Ah, commercial promotion." Binksternet (talk) 02:48, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really get the retail sale of CDs on the site... They give the stories away as a free downloadable mp3. The only sence selling CDs must be for people who don't know how to burn a CD. I think it is more of a service... can't be making money off of CDs when giving the stories away for free. Trgwilson

Promotional links[edit]

Wikipedia needs content, not links. Please take a look at WP:EL, in particular WP:EL#How not to be a spammer, and good luck contributing here. Links referenced by contributed content are more likely not to be removed. --CliffC (talk) 04:54, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 00:26, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CliffC isn't a "wiki-bully", he's just trying to help by introducing you to some policies around here and keeping you from getting into copyright trouble.   jj137 01:59, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki For the blind[edit]

I am 19 years old and blind. I came to Wikipedia hoping to promote its use for the blind. I love the tradition of oral storytelling. I really like stories on the radio. I have tried to find appropriate places on wiki where I can link radio stories to a relevant wiki story... Wiki is a great idea but it is hard to use when you are blind. The best way I know of to enhance Wiki for the blind is to add links to the site from sites like NPR and The American Storyteller. I have started with The American Storyteller because he is the best at radio storytelling. He has such a vast archive of stories, not only for the blind, but for everyone. After I do The American storyteller links, I would like to do the NPR links. I am not going to try to do a lot of editing because typing is very for me. I would like my contribution to be links to relevant stories. CliffC said Wiki does not need links, it needs content. Well that is just one person's opinion and If they don't need links why is there a place for them on the page? This is a very worthwhile thing I am doing and all my blind friends agree. So really think about that please, and don't give those who wish to contribute and participate in this way a bad time, please. We want to be included. The chief complaint is that our links are for promotional purposes. That is nonsense as I am not afflileated with NPR or The American Storyteller. There is no charge to listen to these stories and we really find them the best way to get information in our brains. So please open your mind to that idea. You might think from reading my typing that I am not very bright. Being blind and typing doesn't work very well.... trust me - I speak better than I type. Wiki is for everyone... not just "normal" people... not just the smartest of the smart... not just people who know wiki inside out.... it is for everyone... let us participate.--Trgwilson (talk) 22:11, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I would like to try to help[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry your start on Wikipedia has been so difficult. If you would like, I would be happy to try to help you. Wikipedia can be very confusing and frustrating at times, especially for new editors. I think you make some good points about improving Wikipedia for blind people (I strongly believe that it should be as accessible as possible for everybody). I'm not an admin or anything "special" like that, but I am fairly experienced. Do let me know if you would like to try again - you can leave a message here (I will have this page on my watchlist) or on my talk page at User talk:DuncanHill. Best wishes, and I do hope you feel able to start contributing again sometime. DuncanHill (talk) 02:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

THANKS DUNCAN![edit]

That is vet kind of you... I have not been adding links lately as I was in the hospital for some more eye surgey - Hopefully I can have some typing friends over soon and can make some contributions again.... thank so much for bieng a friend :-) --Trgwilson (talk) 21:35, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK! I hope the surgery went well. By the way, I found Wikipedia:WikiProject Accessibility which might be interesting. It is a Wikiproject which aims to make Wikipedia more accessible. Anyone can join it, and I am sure you will have useful ideas to contribute. Take care, DuncanHill (talk) 21:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Home at last - Home at last[edit]

Two rounds of eye and reconstructive surgery had me in and out of the hospital in Philadelphia. It is so good to be home. No more surgery in the near future. I am going to try to get some more audio links up on my own. I have a friend who can help type but she will not be available for a few more week - so I am going to try it alone. Here goes nothing - deep breath :-)--Trgwilson (talk) 20:22, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Nelson Lauver[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nelson Lauver, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rtphokie (talk) 12:10, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
