Rollback

Ok, you have rollback per the message on my talk page. I'll check out the vandals you mentioned. Graham87 10:20, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Argh not again. Blocking seems to be pointless ... this person seems to be on a dynamic IP and can just float around until they find an IP address that's unblocked. I've Blocking just slows the person down rather than stopping them. I wonder if semi-protecting a few, but not all, of the Rugrats vandal's favourite targets will shock them a bit? Graham87 01:32, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually the vandalism levels on that page are nowhere near as bad as they used to be - the George W. Bush vandalism was one of the main reasons for implementing semi-protection, and before that, the editors disabled section editing on that page so *everyone* could see their comment at the top saying something to the effect of "you will be blocked without warning if you vandalise this page". Those were the days. Graham87 08:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Rugrats problems

I personally wouldn't semi-protect All Grown Up!, because I don't think the vandalism is frequent enough. You can try putting an HTML comment in the appropriate place saying "it's nine years per this source". As for the second question, fan art isn't an acceptable substitute for the real image. Either have the real image with an appropriate nonfree use rationale or nothing at all. That's my opinion anyway ... I don't dabble with images in Wikipedia for obvious reasons. Graham87 10:19, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I've moved the article back. Please don't do cut-and-paste moves in the future - history splitting is not allowed per Wikipedia's license. It's best to ask an admin to fix it. Graham87 11:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: He's back

Yeah I found him the other day as 69.182.44.239. The IP you mentioned has been blocked. Graham87 09:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

It just goes on and on my friend

All edits undone, user blocked. Graham87 04:09, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, just keep me informed if this vandal continues. Six month blocks seem to work well, and I haven't heard of any collateral damage from them. Graham87 04:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Requested move

I've fixed the history of Talk:Rugrats. You can only move a page over a redirect when the only revision in the target's history is a redirect. So if you have moved Page A to Page B, you can only move Page B back to Page A if Page A has had no edits in the meantime. Graham87 00:15, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Possibly unfree Image:Two All Grown Up books.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Two All Grown Up books.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 00:50, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

It's probably not since I assume it shows the book cover or some copyrighted part of the book. I almost never deal with images so I only know the basics of image use policy. Ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Graham87 07:34, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Also, you can link an image or category by adding a colon before its name like [[:Image:Example.jpg]] and [[:Category:Actors]] which produces Image:Example.jpg and Category:Actors. Graham87 07:39, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the barnstar. Yeah images, especially non-free ones, are quite hard to work with. Graham87 07:58, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Torchwood soundtrack page

A glance at Silva Screen's website shows that the soundtrack is real, so it's not a deletion candidate, but it would be good if the page indicated where the information like the track listings came from. I'd drop the page's creator a friendly note, explaining about WP:RS and WP:NOR, and asking where the track listings came from. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 00:09, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

I've blocked User:JohnTBoy, but I don't see the point in deleting the userpage as it's not doing any harm. I won't block the IP addresses quite yet ... the autoblock on the user should stop him for a day or so. Graham87 05:56, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

More rugrats vandalism

I've blocked the IP's you mentioned for six months. If edits to Rugrats-related articles are vandalism, assume every other recent edit by that IP is vandalism and revert it as well with an edit summary like "rv serial vandal", or rollback them if there are lots of edits. Graham87 00:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

DYK

I'm not certain how the "credit" is allocated, but when you submit a nomination for DYK you say whether it is a "self-nom" or not. I said it was a "sort of self-nom" and said that Wolf of Fenric had done most of the work and I'd added to it; the editor who put the article into DYK gave us both a "credit" note on our talk pages. For featured articles, I suppose it's up to the individual editor whether they want to take credit or not. I brought Fun Home to FA status pretty much single-handedly, so I didn't have any problem bragging about it. I was also one of the editors who helped bring Dalek through FAR, but since I didn't really write that article I wouldn't try to claim it as "my work". It's probably a matter of individual taste. :) —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 21:18, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Good question, and to be honest, I'm not sure. I suspect it's much like WP:AIV, WP:SSP or WP:UAA - comment from uninvolved editors are always welcome, but I suspect that as the people are bringing them to that page specifically for the attention of a tool-wielding admin, they probably want an admin to have the final say. That doesn't stop anyone from putting in their two cents' worth (the template that is used at WP:RFPP ({{RFPP}}) does have provision for a "note" section, so you could always use that to put forward your views. Generally speaking, though, people are coming to RFPP because they think the page merits protection. If they have a non-admin telling them that, I have a sneaking suspicion that they'd just say "yeah, great, thanks, but I'm going to relist it to get an admin's take on it". Welcome

I saw somewhere some post of yours, and I say welcome back. The way things "went down" before was truly saddening, you've always been an excellent Wikipedian. Whatever happened before is very far in the past, I'm glad you've decided to edit wikipedia once again. All the best, (and feel free to remove this or request it's deletion if you wish - I've purposefully not mentioned here your previous account and I don't post here to arouse suspicion either). Keeper ǀ 76 19:18, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Excellent news! I was always hoping you'd be back. That whole thing blew up so damn fast, with too many people (myself included) thinking they had to "get their 2 cents in", and before we knew it, we lost a good editor. I don't know where I saw it, but I saw you "self-identify" as the "former ______", and I was all Woot!!! We got ourselves a vandal fighter back! You are in excellent hands with Xenocidic by the way, he is one of the best adopters out there, so however you got connected with him, consider yourself fortunate. He's saved my butt many times (and he usually fixes my screw ups too :-) Glad to have you back away from "the dark side". I knew you'd come around eventually, you were just too good not to. Be well, let me know if you need anything -- Keeper ǀ 76 19:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah, you're right! That's where it was! That was a funny thread. I think I might "retire" sometime towards the end of march, just to miss the drama, and unretire around April 5th. Should die down by then, whatever it is....Keeper ǀ 76 20:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

John- I was on the show- please refer to imdb (amy gunzenhauser) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0509091/ to which you had removed.

please dont delete appropriate/real information. I just wanted to be credited alongside the people I worked with on All Grown Up. I was also a series regular on Preschool Daze, casted by Barbara Wright. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Amyreelz (talkcontribs) 16:35, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

ok. im trying to post this again with the imdb as a source- im not trying to list fraudelent info..im honestly still trying to figure this all out. so if you see an error in my way, please let me know but imdb is a fairly reliable source so I will use that as a reference, although it seems that none of the rest of the cast needed to provide that info, I'll be happy to oblige.

Colour of shorts

Hi John, I changed the colour of the shorts to more of a greyish the other day. I found a high quality .gif of the kit from http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/English_Football_League/season/2008-2009/premier-league.html I'm a Spurs fan and noticed in the game the other day that Bolton had more of a similar colour to the image at this site than the green currently on the Wikipedia site. So I copied the away kit image, took a sample of the greyish colour and got its HTML colour code and changed the green to this colour. I see you have changed it back, but tell me which one you think is the more accurate. The code for the colour is #333333. Tchoutka (talk) 23:34, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

The colour of the away shorts and socks on that website is wrong (but not by much). From a distance the greyish green does

look fully grey but up close you can see that its greyish green. I've been looking for the code to make the wikipedia article

correct for ages without much success. Do you know of any other teams that play in a similer colour kit (either home or

away)? Thanks! Sloan is back!! (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay never mind! I found the right colour code at http://html-color-codes.com/ - It's #003333 (grey with a hint of green).

Thanks for giving me the idea to search for a html website though!! And good luck for the rest of the season :-)

You are the vandal. Look at this edit: [1]. YOU made this edit, ON PURPOSE. I didn't know how to revert either, I'm new to Wikipedia. I was just trying to get rid of that stuff he put on there. How about you stop vandalizing and pretending that other people do it? You could have easily reverted to the version before he vandalized, but you thought it was funny so you put his stuff back! Oh please. Don't get hung up over one little comma. In fact, it is much more appropriate to use a comma between a word and "and". It's basic grammar rules. Marcus2 (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

But I'm telling you now that the proper way to do it in grammar is to always separate things with commas, even between "ands", as I was taught. To avoid a possible edit war, I'm not reverting your edits. I might if we can settle on an agreement. Marcus2 (talk) 21:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

The X Factor

Hi, I was just continuing what I started when I picked up your second comment. Needless to say, I agree on having a consistent format for these tables. There's still slight variation between the series in how they are formatted, but some of my thoughts are:

  • If there's only one Order column for a show in which each act performed more than once, the implication is that the acts performed in the same order within each theme, but should we have a note somewhere to this effect?
  • How should the column headings be for these multiple themes? There seem to be a handful of different formats in use.
  • Do we really need the Mentor column? After all, it repeats information that's already in the article. Maybe we could have the colour stripes in some form or another. What do you think?
  • Should Order be the first column, or should it appear immediately left of the song title? The latter might make the table look better if we implement the colour stripes, and it would improve consistency in the odd cases where the order of acts is different between the two themes.

Why put a X factor contestant's unreleased single above all the others artists that performed the same song beforehand? Jeff Buckley's cover, for example, has been heard as the soundtrack of numerous Series and topped Billboard Digital. Either you should create an article for Alexandra Burke's single, or not use an infobox. I think you are giving that cover undue weight. -- lucasbfr talk 14:18, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

We got the same kind of TV show here no worries. But if you look at the article, this is about the original song, not the covers. Giving Ms Burke's cover its own section is seriously giving it too much space there. It's probably gonna be huge but the others artists that are given a sentence are not exactly unknown folks either. Hallelujah has been sung by many people, and if that cover is notable by herself (my rule of a thumb says it is), it should be on its own article. -- lucasbfr talk 14:32, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Same to you too. An hour left where I am! J Milburn (talk) 23:03, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Ditto! I've just got up on Christmas morning here. Graham87 00:49, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Let me also wish you Merry Christmas. You posted Q9 in my RfA, to which I have not yet provided an answer. At the moment, I have Q9, this request, and Christmas celebration pending. I just wanted to let you know that I do plan to get to Q9. Best. -- Suntag 21:00, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: Congratulations

Hey thanks a lot! :) heh. I actually got beaten by you on the first (incorrect) revert, so I had more time to regroup... >_> Also, why don't you try [WP:HG|Huggle]] out? You have rollback, which is the only real 'requirement' to use it, and it is unbelievably powerful and very useful. Thingg 02:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
