Wikipedia Project Context Memo[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fieldnotes For my Wikipedia project, I expanded the "Fieldnotes" article stub. The article was listed as high importance and while I didn't expand it massively, I believe that what I did contribute to the article was necessary. My main contributions were rewriting what was already there so that it could be read more easily, adding a section on what's included in field notes, and adding more references/further readings. The previous version of this article was cumbersome to read and not easily accessible to the average person. The article also appears on the first page of Google results when searching for "how to write field notes" so I thought it was pertinent for the article to include guidelines on how to do so. In my experience, most people turn to either Google or Wikipedia first when wanting to find out more about a topic. I also made the article more appealing as a Wikipedia article, in a sense. I added citations and references to give the article more credibility. I reorganized the external links and further readings sections and added more sources to each so that people could look more in depth about field notes if they so chose. Finally, I added an image of a page from a field notebook. Most well-written articles on Wikipedia include an image of some sort so I wanted to get the ball rolling, so to speak, and hope that other contributors will want to aid in improving upon this article.
